A Story Every Student Hears

last update publish date: 2026-06-10 20:23:13

The room froze.

Several students turned instinctively. Others followed a heartbeat later.

And suddenly…

Dozens of eyes landed on Anastasia.

The daughter of Lucien Kael.

For one brief moment, the question was no longer directed at the teacher. It was reflected in every face turned towards her.

Anastasia felt the attention immediately.

Her shoulders stiffened slightly.

There it was again… That feeling.

The feeling of being seen without truly being seen.

They weren't looking at Anastasia. They were looking at what she represented.

The teacher noticed.

His gaze briefly settled on her.

Then, deliberately, he looked away.

He refused to allow the classroom's attention to remain on her.

Instead, he turned back towards the girl who had asked the question.

“Alpha Lucien?”

The girl nodded.

“Yes, sir.”

A faint smile touched the teacher's face.

“An excellent example.”

Immediately, the classroom became more attentive.

Anastasia slowly lifted her eyes.

Even she wanted to know where he was going with this.

The teacher began walking slowly between the rows of desks.

“Tell me,” he said, “what makes a wildfire dangerous?”

Several hands immediately shot into the air.

“It burns everything!”

One answer came quickly.

“It spreads too fast!”

Another student leaned forward.

“It destroys everything in its path!”

The teacher nodded.

“Correct.”

He continued walking.

The classroom waited.

Then he stopped…

“But what makes a wildfire truly terrifying?”

The room fell quiet.

The students looked at one another.

Their earlier confidence disappeared as they considered the question.

Then…

A hand slowly rose.

“Because…”

The student hesitated.

“Because you can't control it?”

The teacher stopped.

For a moment, he simply looked at the student who had answered.

Then he smiled.

“Exactly.”

A thoughtful silence settled over the classroom.

The students waited.

“A wildfire is powerful,” the teacher said at last.

“But power alone isn't what makes it terrifying.”

His gaze moved slowly across the room.

“A controlled fire can protect.”

He paused…

“It can provide warmth.”

Another pause…

“It can forge weapons.”

The students listened quietly.

Then the teacher's voice lowered.

“But when that control disappears...”

The classroom became still.

“...the fire becomes destruction.”

The words settled heavily over the room.

For several seconds, no one spoke.

Then the teacher turned towards the board.

“Alpha Lucien possesses immense power.”

Every student seemed to focus more closely.

No one moved.

“But power alone is not what made him the Alpha God of War.”

Several students frowned.

“It isn't?” someone asked quietly.

The teacher shook his head.

“No.”

He turned back towards the classroom.

“What made him feared...”

He paused.

“...was his control.”

Something shifted in the room.

The students listened more carefully now.

“Every battle he entered.”

A pause…

“Every decision he made.”

Another…

“Every ounce of power he possessed.”

His hand slowly closed.

“Controlled.”

The simplicity of the word made the classroom feel even quieter.

Anastasia's gaze remained fixed on the teacher.

CONTROL.

There it was again!… That word.

The teacher continued.

“Power without control creates destruction.”

Several students glanced towards the image of the wildfire still fresh in their minds.

“Control without power creates limitations.”

His gaze moved slowly across the classroom.

“But the truly terrifying individuals...”

He paused.

No one spoke.

“...are those who possess both.”

The words settled heavily over the classroom.

Several students glanced briefly towards Anastasia.

This time, however, the lesson didn't feel as though it was about her.

It was about what her father represented.

The teacher turned away from the class and returned to the front of the classroom.

Then he leaned lightly against his desk.

For a moment, he said nothing.

The silence stretched.

It felt deliberate.

As though he were allowing the previous lesson to settle before leading them somewhere else entirely.

Then...

“Every student who enters this academy hears this story.”

The atmosphere in the classroom changed immediately.

Curiosity returned to the students.

Several leaned forward in their seats.

Others stopped writing.

Even the students who had been whispering earlier now watched the teacher.

The teacher noticed their sudden attention.

A faint smile touched his face.

“My instructors told it to me when I was sitting exactly where you are.”

He gestured towards the rows of desks.

“And their instructors told it to them before that.”

A hand immediately rose.

The teacher looked towards the student.

“Why?”

The teacher's expression became thoughtful.

“Because every generation needs to hear it.”

The answer only seemed to deepen the student's curiosity.

Several students exchanged glances.

What kind of story could be important enough to be passed from one generation of students to another?

The teacher reached for a piece of white stone.

Then he added...

“It may not even be true.”

The classroom went silent.

Several students blinked.

One girl slowly lowered the hand that had been raised.

Another student frowned.

“Then why tell us?” someone asked quietly.

The teacher didn't answer.

Instead, he turned towards the board.

The white stone touched its surface.

Scrrrt...

The sound seemed strangely loud in the silent classroom.

Anastasia watched him.

Something about the teacher's expression had changed.

The casual warmth from earlier was gone. In its place was something quieter, older… More serious.

The white stone moved slowly across the board.

One letter… Then another.

The students watched.

C.

A.

E.

L.

A.

N.

The teacher lowered the stone.

For a moment, no one said anything.

Then his gaze moved across the classroom.

“CAELAN.”

The name hung in the silence.

Anastasia stared at it.

She had never heard it before.

Yet something about the way the teacher had written it made her feel that this was no ordinary name.

It felt like the beginning of something.

A story that had survived long enough to become a lesson.

And perhaps...

A warning.

Around her, the other students stared at the name as well.

Most of them had never heard it before.

Yet suddenly...

They wanted to know who Caelan was.

“Whether the story happened or not doesn't matter,” the teacher said.

His gaze moved slowly across the classroom.

“Because it was never meant to teach history.”

He turned towards them.

“It was meant to teach survival.”

The classroom became completely silent.

Even the students who had been shifting in their seats earlier now seemed still.

“According to the tale, Caelan entered an academy much like this one.”

The teacher gestured around the classroom.

“He wasn't the strongest.”

Several students frowned.

“He wasn't the fastest.”

More confusion appeared.

“And he wasn't the most talented.”

Now the question was written clearly across several faces.

Then why was he remembered?

The teacher noticed.

A faint smile appeared.

“That's exactly what every class asks.”

A small ripple of laughter spread through the room.

Then the teacher continued.

“According to the story, there came a day when Caelan stood before an opponent he could not defeat.”

The laughter disappeared immediately.

The classroom grew quiet again.

“He was weaker.”

The teacher raised one finger.

“Slower.”

A second finger…

“And completely outmatched.”

A third…

Anastasia found herself leaning forward slightly.

Around her, the other students had become completely focused.

No one whispered or moved unnecessarily.

A girl near the front finally raised his voice.

“How did he win?”

Several students immediately turned towards the teacher.

The question was exactly what everyone wanted to know.

The teacher's faint smile deepened.

For one brief moment, he said nothing.

Then...

“I never said he won.”

Silence…

For one heartbeat, no one seemed to understand what the teacher had said.

Then the classroom erupted.

“What?”

A student near the front sat up straighter.

“Then what happened?”

“How can the story be important if he lost?”

The questions came from every direction.

Several students began talking at once, their confusion quickly filling the classroom.

The teacher simply waited.

Then he raised one hand.

The room gradually fell silent again.

“According to the tale,” he continued, “that battle became one of the most important moments of Caelan's life.”

The confusion remained.

Several students leaned forward. Others stared at the teacher, waiting for an explanation.

Anastasia's gaze remained fixed on him.

If Caelan had been weaker… Slower… Completely outmatched… And he hadn't even won…

Then why was his story still being told?

The teacher slowly turned towards the board.

His eyes rested on the name written there.

“Because when the battle began...”

The entire classroom became silent.

Even the smallest movements seemed to stop.

The teacher paused.

“Caelan did something no one expected.”
