ADELAINE.

“Where is Landon anyway?” Kael asked, and my head tilted to look at Gracie, wanting to see her reaction.

And I wasn’t wrong. The mention of his name made her swallow, and color slowly drained from her face, but she was able to compose herself and reached her arms out toward Lacey, who jumped back to her.

“He’s inside the house, Alpha,” Danielle replied.

Gracie’s forehead creased as she looked at Danielle under her lashes, not minding that Lacey was pulling the button off her top.

“There was some problem with the security camera on one of the floors, so he’s fixing that, but he said he’d join us for lunch.” Danielle continued.

“I see…” Kael said before he turned to Essak. “My Beta is still doing the work of my Delta, as I still don’t have a new one yet.”

“But do you have someone in mind?” Essak asked, and when Kael nodded, he asked another question. “Do you have any news about Dexter?”

“No. No clue where he is.”

ADESSA. My tears fell as she approached me and handed me the flowers. Then she cupped my hands before she looked me straight in the eye. “We were saddened when we heard that you left the territory. We couldn’t understand why you and the Alpha parted ways when we thought you had a perfect life together…”I didn’t know many of them felt that way about us. I thought I was never wanted. But I couldn’t find my voice to ask more about it.“We are glad that despite being a princess, the Alpha was able to take you back. And I hope that you still want to be our Luna.”I couldn’t stop my tears from falling anymore, and despite the many things I wanted to say, I was at a loss for words. So I kept nodding my head. “Welcome home, Luna Adessa.”I snaked my arms around her and hugged her as I whispered. “I’m happy to be home.”I meant to say it to her alone, but the crowd heard it as they began chanting again, welcoming me home before applause rang out in the air once more. Soon, more females and

After I smiled at him, he returned his attention to Kael. “I didn’t tell anyone, even the men at the border, so that means I was not able to tell them to keep it quiet when you arrive. I asked the crowd what they were doing here, and they told me someone from the border said the Alpha and Luna had arrived. So I guess the news broke out, and those who could come, came here.”“Are they upset?” I asked. Even if Kael told me there were smiling faces, I refused to look at the crowd. “Upset? No. They are excited. I felt like I was tending children with the many times they asked me if you were near already.” He chuckled again. “Come out and meet your people. They missed you. I think they couldn’t wait to kick me out of here.”After that, Rasmus closed the door, and Kael looked at me. I could see understanding on his face. “Look at the crowd, Adessa. I see flowers… I’m sure they’re for you.”I finally let my eyes wander, and I couldn’t help but tear up. “I’m so sorry. I never cowered with an

ADESSA. Living in the palace with Kael and my whole family was like a dream, but I knew it was not the place I wanted to be. Despite the fact that I had bad memories in the Ironcrest territory, it was also where my best memories were. And I wanted to be there. With Kael as my mate and with his love surrounding me, I wanted to try getting close to his people. I should have tried harder before, but I didn’t. Because, at that time, I didn’t believe I had the right. But not anymore. This time, I knew I was their fated Luna, and I would do everything to win their hearts. But even though I looked forward to going home, I was also uneasy.Almost a week ago, we headed home without letting anyone know except Rasmus. We didn’t want any commotion, or, to be honest, I didn’t want to start our new life with a negative welcome. So, I was taken aback when we arrived at the packhouse and found a crowd gathered in front of our house. **FLASHBACK TO ALMOST A WEEK AGO.** “I wish we were celebrating

BETA LANDON.After I graduated from school and Kael took me under his wing, I never saw her again until that fateful day when I bumped into her in the city. I mustered all my courage to finally talk to her and invited her for lunch. The lunch extended to a snack and a walk in the city until dinner. And then we ended up in one room. We had sex. I was on cloud nine. Until she confessed that she had a boyfriend, and she had no idea why she allowed what happened to us to happen. I tried to save my ego and told her it was nothing—that I was used to one-night stands and no commitment because I was not made for one. We parted ways, both agreeing that it would just be a one-time thing and would never happen again. My happiest day became the worst day of my life. For almost three years, I heard nothing from her. Until I bumped into Ricky, one of my schoolmates. I couldn’t understand the animosity he was showing me until he finally told me that he was Gracie’s boyfriend when she cheated

ADELAINE. Essak stayed for another day and was able to meet Gracie. My daughter was still in awe and couldn’t believe everything. She said that accepting Adessa as my daughter was easy, but the connection to the Royal Family, as well as my role as the protector of a king, was something she couldn’t imagine. She said she was stupid not to see any signs that I had powers. But I told her I was too good at hiding them. I couldn’t remember showing Gracie even a slight clue that I could do things without lifting a finger. That was how badly I wanted to hide my skills, to make sure she and Adessa would be protected. Gracie was excited to see Adessa again but told me she needed to return to Greenfield the next day and couldn’t come with me to Ironcrest. I knew something was off, as before she realized Adessa was the Luna of Ironcrest, she was so eager to see her. I had my intuition as to why, but I didn’t ask. I knew I would find out the answer on time. I did my best to convince her, and w
