Selene was enraged. Everything flew as she slammed her hands onto her dressing table.

And flung everything on it away in fury. The door burst open.

A young woman named Katrina, her maid, peered in with wide, alarmed eyes. Kathrina stutteringly said. “ Luna Ravena are you okay?”

She glared at the maid. “Leave at once!”

The maid hurried out of the room almost tripping over herself as she scampered backward. She pulled the door open and ran out.

After Katrina had left, Selene began to pace the soft carpet. With each irate breath she took, her chest heaved.

She swore to herself. “He shouldn't have suggested that I need a personal guard!”

She had only pretended to agree with him earlier to keep him from asking more questions. “ Ethan you're really getting on my last nerve!”

Her negligence in leaving the envelope on the table astounded her. She had nearly been caught for her stupid behavior. Now crumpled from her outburst she saw the envelope on the floor.

Selene picked it up and tore

With a twinkle of satisfaction in her eyes, she smiled smugly as Ethan stormed out of the study along with the guard. She felt at least relieved that he was out of her way. If he keeps annoying her and acting in that irritating way, she might have to discipline him even more. He needs to know his limits. Selene flicked a peck of dust from her dress and then held her head high. What good were her great political powers as the Luna of the pack if she couldn't just push him out of her way when he gave her too much trouble? ***Noises were coming from all over the training ground. The warm glow from the sun poured into the training ground, and the smell of sweat permeated the air. From the edges of the fields, young women known as Gemma maids who worked in the pack house watched. With amazement in their eyes, they observed the warriors as they trained. One particularly daring maid noticed Daemon. As she looked at him she slowly licked her lips while keeping a yearning look on her fac

It was spread out on the smooth wooden table, an ancient map with faint worn marks and lines. Selene's firm yet light fingers followed a path she had visualized countless times. The hills, the narrow winding roads, and the tall locations on the map caught her attention. Her eyes glistened brightly, and a slow, joyful smile spread across her face. Suddenly, a clear and powerful idea came to her mind. It was a plan that felt powerful and exciting, a way to keep everyone safe and possibly even prepare for problems before they arise. Her whole body ached with anticipation as if she were eager to get her plan underway. She was eager to start things as soon as possible to realize her big idea. Suddenly, with a loud thud, the heavy wooden door to her peaceful study exploded open. Just as she was thinking about him, Ethan hurried in. A large powerful guard wearing the distinctive Ridgewood warrior's uniform appeared immediately behind him. The proud emblem of their pack, the sign of a ho

When Ethan held out the envelope, a heavy, icy silence descended upon the room. Her mouth was slightly open, and her eyes, which were normally so fierce, were wide with surprise. It seemed like the tension between them was the only thing left in the room after all the air had been drawn out. He kept his eyes fixed on her, watching as her startled face gradually changed into something else: a brief moment of terror followed by a hardening of her features that resembled a mask settling into place. He felt a spark of something unreadable fly between them as she grabbed the envelope out of his hand. Her chest rose and fell rapidly as she gazed at the envelope. She obviously recognized it. They were both aware of the secret in the now-smoothed-out piece of crumpled paper. Unspoken words and questions hung heavy between them causing the air to crackle. “This is impossible,” she muttered under her breath. Her eyes darted from the envelope to his, a mixture of disbelief and what seemed l

The night air was cool against his skin, but Ethan felt a restless energy pulsing within him as he stood near his window. The faint glow of the moon glowed over the pack. For a long time, he stood there watching until he saw her, Ravena. She had returned. He fixed his gaze on her figure as he watched her walk into the pack house with swiftness.Ethan’s face contorted into a tight frown, deep lines were etched on his forehead and his brows were knitted as he watched her until she was out of sight. Unable to remain calm, he began to pace from one end to another. His heavy footsteps echoed softly in the quiet room. He couldn’t help but notice how carefree she has been about her safety; it seems she has forgotten that her safety is a vital issue. Rather she chose to walk around the pack in the dark like she’s taking a damn tour! Why can’t she be reasonable? As he moved, his hand came up and he raked his long fingers forcefully through his hair. “That woman would get herself killed

The street lay still beneath the pale light of the moon, flanked on either side by log cabins and stone cottages with slanted roofs.Lanterns that hung from each building cast a golden glow around. As Selene walked with gentle but powerful steps, her cloak billowed softly behind her, catching the night's air.Although the street was not deserted completely, a few traders walked past her, pushing their carts filled with unsold items from the market. Two young girls hurried past her but she could still hear their conversation.“ I can't wait for the next mating ceremony so I can finally be bonded by my fated mate,” a young girl giggled excitedly.Selene stopped abruptly as the words from the girl carried familiar memories. She felt a stab of pain in her chest.“Well, I am glad I found my fated mate during the last season,” the other girl replied, her voice had a tinge of happiness. “My cousin is yet to find a mate and she doesn't even have a wolf yet. She is 21 already. I feel sorry fo
