SERENA’S POV

“Mom?!” the word just flew out of my lips, horror painted all over my features. And in response,

“In the flesh! Since you refused to take my calls, Serena.” She shot, voice loud as ever. Her hot pink flowy dress standing out like a sore thumb against the ivory couches of the living room. A total hallmark compared to the effortlessly polished looking Celeste on the side.

“Don’t be like that, Melissa. We haven’t been waiting for long” Celeste chided, putting down her tea mug as she headed to me. Smiling.

“Oh dear, how are you? Where have you been?” I just stood, stunned. More than that, shocked as I soon got pulled into that warm embrace. Her familiar vanilla fragrance further registering the fact that this wasn’t a joke. This was all real. She was real. Both she and my mom! And they were right here in my house, in my living room!

“Oh God,” I whispered, suddenly feeling light headed as she pulled away. Her sharp eyes quickly caught my discomfort though.

“Are you okay, Rena

SERENA'S POV“No. 2, quick!” the coordinator’s assistant hissed, urging the next contestant as all the previous models came strutting back in. Proud smiles on their faces.I didn’t even get to gauge the judges’ responses from their expressions before yet another round of astounding designs flew in my face. “Whoa!” I exclaimed in my spot, lips parted open as I took in what could only be the most eye bulging outfit ever!“Are those lights?” A contestant asked from beside me, star struck as I was. This round of models seemed to be adorned with dresses made of jagged silver, their shoulders padded and jutting high up like some armor! All with LED lights stitched intricately into them. Causing several sparkles and reflections as they hit the lights of the tent and even more so of the stage itself!“People really are talented,” I heard someone say, camera lights flashing. Indicating someone had taken a picture.I watched them go, disappearing into the stage as the contestant followed behind

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    CHAPTER 74

SERENA’S POV“Dominic?”“Who is-“The guy from the fabrics store. The salesman.” I reminded her, staring even more intently now despite being so far away. It took a moment, but it finally clicked for her.“Oh, I remember him!” she gasped, “What is he doing here? There. Is he part of the judges?”“He for sure isn’t a salesman.” I retorted, not believing my eyes. “A salesman won’t be a judge at a fashion runway.” We stayed like that, silently questioning ourselves and watching him from the shadows. But the more we did, I couldn’t help but feel somewhat betrayed. Even the modest warm and bright lights of the stage didn’t seem to help matters either. All they did was reflect continuously on him.On the distracting creases at the edge of his eyes, every time that dashing smile brightened up his features. He was literally handing it out like baked cookies to the ladies around him, and I could tell they enjoyed it. Enjoyed him, and the view of his toned chest from the few buttons undone on h

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    CHAPTER 73

SERENA’S POV You will be surprised how silent our mansion can be especially after an incident so striking as me having loads of gift boxes getting tucked away in my bedroom. There was no noise. No comments. No questions. And above all, no quarrels. Can you believe that? I won’t lie to you I half expected Eliot to stop me at the stairs the next morning. To say something or just question what I was doing. His mistress-May saw it all after all. It wouldn’t be shocking if she informed him. But in the end, he did not. Did nothing at all. To my absolute surprise and partial disappointment. I for sure wanted to brag about my stuffs. It wasn’t even easy going to bed after unboxing each and every one of them. Wasn’t easy to stop smiling as more of Axel’s teasing and absolute ridiculousness filled my mind. But I did it anyways. Slept, woke up lighter than ever, had a shower the next day, then grabbed my stuff, sketches and everything important before jumping into my car and driving all

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    CHAPTER 71

SERENA’S POV “What? Half- naked?” I couldn’t even stop the chuckles that left my lips at this point. This man is ridiculous! “Aww… you’re smiling so bright, Madam. What does it say?” I looked up, the excited squeals of the maid making me smile even more. Rosa’s scolding look finding her just then, sharp enough to make her lower her head. Poor girl was going to get a lecture after now. I just pocketed the note, shaking my head as I walked towards the now arranged gift boxes. “Which do I start with?” I giggled, unable to hide how giddy I felt staring at the all the packages. “Maybe we should take these upstairs, Madam?” Rosa suggested carefully, her eyes skeptical as she glanced upstairs. “It’s not… it’s not really safe here. Too many eyes.” “Eliot, you mean?” I muttered, huffing under my breath. He was the least of my concerns right now. And to prove my point, I grabbed one of the medium sized boxes. “Madam we- “Awww, wow…” I cooed softly, all smiles as the box slowly unveiled a b

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    CHAPTER 70

SERENA’S POV “I can take care of them, they’re mine after all” I mimicked as I slammed the door. Or at least tried to. Even with my nose all scrunched up, face squeezed in nothing but pure distaste, I still couldn’t sound like that douchebag. “So annoying,” Grumbling, I kicked off my slippers, jumping right on my bed. The sketch pads and markers I had left to go downstairs for mom’s package, protesting in response. “I can’t believe he will say that. Helping me. He was helping? H-how??” Right from those divorce papers down to the very moment that just happened downstairs, what part displayed him helping me? Is it the part when he wanted to use me as a cover for the Inner circle gathering? Or the part where he tried to kiss me for his ‘crazy fantasy’? Or even now that he was putting my name as the mother of his unborn child? His bastard?! “Oh God,” I muttered, a humorously crackle leaving my lips as I shook my head. Disappointed. “Eliot’s crazy. Delusional. The man is totally not thi
