ELIOT’S POV

They couldn’t even know of a news so severe and yet they followed her there! Stayed all night with her and what they can tell me is they’re heading home?

She’s heading home, so they’re doing the same? Am I paying these people to just relax themselves or what?!

“Good evening, Mr.-

“Don’t give me that!” I cut that maid off, storming past her as I entered the living room. The ride from the office wasn’t exactly a long one so I was back home in no time. Of course I knew she wouldn’t be here waiting. That wasn’t the reason I came back.

I came for something else. Something more audacious that has been brewing under my nose for quite some time now. And I had let it, choosing not to make a big deal out of it. But not anymore. Not under my roof! “Good evening, Mr. Beckett.” She greeted calmly, her head reducing with mock respect cause if she really did regard me, then this wouldn’t have happened.

“Rosa,” I called, jaw clenched. Eyes pinning her with a stare. “Where did Serena go?”

SERENA’S POVI knew getting into that fashion show, applying for it and even attending would cause a whole lot of stir. But I didn’t think it would be so soon at all. I didn’t think my phone would be blowing with all sorts of news before I even returned back home from the show. I was already on the blogs? They couldn’t even wait for me to sleep it all off and dream about what a wonderful night it had been. Such impatience!Gosh, the devil really is restless. You could imagine me coming home first thing to Eliot’s angry face, the maids skeptical looks seeing as they didn’t know what was going on, and Rosa’s relived glance like she was just happy I was all in one piece.Had the blogs gotten to her yet?I didn’t even need to assume a response for that, Eliot did a fine job answering it. “How could you be so reckless and unreasonable? What were you thinking involving yourself in some measly fashion nonsense, stirring up talks about yourself, Serena! About me, about us online!” his voice

ELIOT’S POV“Eli darling?”“Mom,”“Are you listening?”“Yes i am, mom. You hear me responding, don’t you?” I drawled out, eyes focused on the documents i front of me. Fingers signing, ears listening to her. Totally doable, don’t get why she wouldn’t believe me.“You need to be taking her out for walks. Strolls in the evenings, staying indoors every day is not good for her. She’ll love it I’m sure!”Hmm.Taking Serena out for walks. Evening strolls… Mom, you don’t really know that woman, do you? Last time i just helped her out with the call. Wanted to rid her of the distress it gave her, and next thing i know she was yelling at me.That was what i got. My repayment. And now, you want me to go propose an evening stroll to her? That’s not going to work. Don’t need to reminded what a mess the entire situation had become. “Do we have a deal, darling?” her voice came again.“Deal over what, mom?” i asked, taking the moment to lay back on my leather seat. “I just said I’ll take her for the s

SERENA'S POV“Our winners are contestant No. 5, 9, 14,18, 6, 25 andddd 10!!!!”Gaps filled the air. Sharp, loud, charged. And all at once, “Whoooo!!” the audience went wild! Screams of excitement filling the air, several stage pyrotechnics shooting up to the skies. Multiple times too, leaving everywhere in bright celebratory colors. Charged as hell!Tiny celebration particles and trumpet sounds blasting all over the place, raining on our bodies as everyone scattered. “Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God… OH MY GODDDD!!” The lady closest to me screamed at the top of her lungs.Momentarily rendering me deaf as I squeezed my eyes shut. But even that didn’t stop the words from ringing in my head; “No. 10,”10.I… I was No. 10. It said so on my tag.My eyes opened just then, hands frantic as I checked to make sure. “No. 10.” I confirmed breathlessly. “No. 10. I… I won? Me?”“Oh, Madam!” Mae burst out crying right then. Her face twisting to a real ugly state as she wrapped her arms around me. “

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    CHAPTER 76

SERENA'S POV My designs weren't trash! I could cry a river right now. But then my gaze caught on the last man at the table. Dominic. And just like that, my breath stopped. Smiles reducing as he leaned forward, forearms resting against the table, his silk shirt glowing softly under the lights. He looked nothing like the fabric salesman I remembered despite his warm eyes. He looked like he belonged here — like he’d always belonged here. I was just the idiot for not seeing it from the start. “You took silk and made it tell a story,” He said. His voice cutting through the air, smooth, certain. “From ash to fire to rebirth, it was all a story. I’ve seen designers with more polish, more technique, but too often, their work has no soul. But tonight…” He paused, smiling warmly like he fully recognized me. “Yours did, No. 10. Congratulations!” The crowd cheered. Their encouragement plus Dominic's words reminding me to smile as the host led me and my models off the stage. The audience b

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    CHAPTER 75

SERENA'S POV “This is it,” she smiled, finally taking off her cape. A ripple of gasp filling the tent as she elegantly carried herself out into the stage. It was Axel’s idea to use capes. Said it was to keep our magic on. Didn’t understand him then, but I most definitely do now. Judging from how some of the designers gathered around the sidelines to watch my model. “That is impressive! You made that? You?” “Of course!” Mae responded for me, shooting an equally nasty stare at the female designer. “Sure, about that? She don’t look like it.” The designer snorted. Hoping to vex me, I’m sure but I couldn’t even be bothered by such right now. Not when a more important scene stood before me, not when the very end game for all my stress for the past weeks was unfolding before my eyes! The glorious rise. “The Rebirth.” I breathed, anxious as I fisted the sides of my dress. Eyes glued to the stage. The figure on the stage. A molten fire dress. Deep red silk, bright and consuming, clinging
