It took a long moment before Evren’s breathing steadied, before the frantic look in his eyes gave way to something quieter, and then shame followed.

Despite how relaxing it felt to be the Lycan king’s embrace, Evren couldn’t completely relax. Shame crawled on his skin as he replayed his reaction to the king’s entrance.

He should’ve known it was the king. Why had he gotten so scared and then freaked out? He wasn’t even in StoneRidge again, and memories like that should no longer hunt him.

  • THE KING’s RESONANCE OMEGA   PLIGHTS FROM THE PAST

It took a long moment before Evren’s breathing steadied, before the frantic look in his eyes gave way to something quieter, and then shame followed.Despite how relaxing it felt to be the Lycan king’s embrace, Evren couldn’t completely relax. Shame crawled on his skin as he replayed his reaction to the king’s entrance. He should’ve known it was the king. Why had he gotten so scared and then freaked out? He wasn’t even in StoneRidge again, and memories like that should no longer hunt him.Not when he’d safely shelved it away. If he was still in StoneRidge and that happened, perhaps Evren would’ve understood why. But even back in StoneRidge he’d never let himself go into panic like that. That was dangerous and the fastest way to get himself hurt. Because having a panic episode meant losing sense of himself and control of what could happen to him, and that was never a good idea. Being conscious of everything happening to him was what kept him alive long enough in StoneRidge. He might’ve

  • THE KING’s RESONANCE OMEGA   SOOTHE HIM

It had taken Lachlan less than two minutes to get to the guest lodge in the Palace. On a normal day, it was a seven- to ten-minute walk, no less, from the guest lodge to the main Palace.Yet, Lachlan had reached Evren’s door in no less than two minutes thanks to his Lycan speed. The Alpha King hadn’t bothered to be gentle as he slammed the door open, which didn’t seem like too much force to him. But it turned out to be too much for the omega.Lachlan had barely taken a step past the threshold when he noticed how Evren had recoiled. He thought the omega was startled and didn’t realise the actual truth of what was unfolding in his eyes until he saw the way Evren staggered back, raising his hands in defence when Lachlan got closer. The air in the room had changed in an instant, filled with a sour, panic-copper tang of fear. The little omega had gone from standing by the window to a heap on the floor in a matter of what seemed like minutes.Lachlan’s confusion had been written all over hi

  • THE KING’s RESONANCE OMEGA   DON’T TOUCH ME

Evren sighed, wrapping his bathrobe tighter around himself as he exited the bathroom. He felt lighter, like a pound of weight had been lifted off him; perhaps it had been. The ache had receded by a huge fraction. It wasn’t as intense as when it started, and the bleeding had finally stopped. At least Evren hoped so.Yesterday’s bleeding had been brutal, and he had spent several hours in the bathtub. Marisol had questioned him tirelessly each time she came over.Evren had gotten the hint that perhaps the king had tasked Marisol to keep an eye on him and that maybe had saddened him a bit because for a moment there, it felt good to see someone else other than himself care about his wellbeing. But this Omega had no real attachment to Evren, so why would she care for him? It didn’t matter though; Evren hadn’t entered the palace with the mindset to find love or a chosen family. The king’s absence had made things smoother for Evren. At least he didn’t have to explain why he was bleeding. The

Lachlan was restless. More restless than he’s ever been. Even when facing battles, the Alpha King had never been this restless in his life.He couldn’t explain it away with words, nor was there any logical reason in his head. His court meeting today had been a bit of a blur for the Lycan.Lachlan couldn’t say precisely what the conversation was about. Perhaps something about the border, or maybe not. He’d read the written minutes some other day, when his heart had stopped caving in like there was a tornado heading his way.But Lachlan has never been scared of tornadoes, and if one headed his way, he would stand his ground and face it. So this was different.Different in the sense that every time his thoughts wandered to Evren, there was a pang in his chest and his heart would thump loudly twice before caving in, as if trying to retreat further into his body.Still, Lachlan had spent the entire day convincing himself that I didn’t need to go to the omega. It was too soon for him to go

The pain had only gotten worse, and Evren was a wreck, but he couldn’t show it. For some reason, Marisol had decided to camp out in his room for most of the day.The Omega had left after bringing lunch only to return with a cup of hot honey tea. Evren had taken it with much appreciation and gulped down the contents. Which has allowed him a moment of reprieve from the way his stomach had begun attacking him from the inside. But Marisol had stayed longer, refusing to leave the omega alone. The honeyed tea had given Evren the reprieve to sit up and have his lunch. And since Marisol wouldn’t stop staring, Evren knew he had no choice but to force down bites of his lunch even though he had no appetite. He had spent the rest of the day curled on the bed under the quilt while his stomach chewed him out. He knew it was the effect of all the concoction he’d been drinking, but Evren hadn’t expected this much.As the hush of dusk settled upon the palace, Marisol took her leave, and Evren finally

  • THE KING’s RESONANCE OMEGA   THE OMEGA REMAINS

“There remains the matter of the debt, Your Majesty,” Jerome said in a flat, procedural tone.Lachlan was yet to look up from the report in front of him. Although he wasn’t exactly paying attention to the content on the page either. His mind was elsewhere. Solely on the Omega Lachlan had left with great reluctance earlier that morning.More than anything, Lachlan had wanted to stay the entire day. His lust for the omega might’ve ebbed a fraction, but it did nothing to curb that yearning somewhere in his chest that made him want to cling to the omega. It made no sense.Lachlan knew he should’ve left the omega after satisfying himself that night. But then instead of pulling away and departing the room as he did with all his previous bed partners, the Lycan King had settled into bed and drawn Evren into his embrace. It was odd, but Lachlan had shelved it as a problem for another day. And when morning came, he’d stayed to wash the omega.Such tenderness was something the Lycan King never
