Arianna's POV

Morning came far too quickly. I had barely slept. Every time I closed my eyes, I heard the Crown Princes voice. Now, I sat before the vanity mirror while a maid fastened the final buttons of my dress. An elderly physician stood near the doorway, waiting patiently.

"I am Doctor Alaric, Lady Arianna," he greeted with a polite bow. "I am responsible for Crown Prince Cassian's medical care. If you are ready, we should head to His Highness's chambers."

My heart skipped a beat. "Of course. Lead the way."

As we walked through the soaring corridors, my palms grew damp. Yesterday, I had seen the Crown Prince from across a crowded throne room. Today, I would be standing right beside him.

Doctor Alaric stopped before a pair of enormous black iron doors. The guards pushed them open, and we stepped inside.

The Crown Prince's private suite was breathtakingvast, quiet, and bathed in golden morning light. Towering bookshelves covered one wall, while ancient weapons were displayed beneath glass on another.

And then I saw him.

He sat near the high windows in his black wheelchair. The thick black silk blindfold remained firmly in place across his eyes, shielding his gaze entirely. Even blindfolded, he looked completely in control. Morning light carved his features into sharp relief, tracing the hard line of his jaw.

"Good morning, Your Highness," Doctor Alaric said softly.

The prince's head turned slightly. "Morning, Doctor."

His voice was deep, smooth, and controlled. I stood awkwardly beside the doctor, keeping my mouth shut.

"I have brought Lady Arianna," Doctor Alaric informed him. "She will begin learning your physical therapy routine today."

"I know," the prince replied flatly. He didn't offer an objection, nor did he display a trace of curiosity.

"We'll begin with his legs," Doctor Alaric said, stepping toward the wheelchair. "Watch carefully."

Doctor Alaric briefly demonstrated the technique on the lower leg before gesturing for me to take over. I hesitated, taking a small step closer, suddenly painfully aware of how close I was standing to him.

"If you intend to do this, stop hesitating," the prince said, his head turning slightly toward me.

A flush of heat crawled up my neck. I swallowed hard and leaned down, placing my palms against his lower leg.

The moment my skin met his, heat rushed straight up my arms.

My breath caught. His skin was unexpectedly warm, carrying the same intense heat I had felt from his wolf in the throne room. It wasn't frightening. It felt... familiar. And beneath my palms, the muscle was firmer than I had expected.

Something moved in the corner of my vision. I turned my head sharply.

The crimson wolf stood near the far wall. It wasn't growling. Its molten gold eyes were fixed directly on my hands resting against its master's skin.

It took a slow, silent step toward me.

I froze, my hands going still.

"Why did you stop?" the prince asked smoothly.

"Your wolf..." I whispered. "It's coming closer."

"I know when it moves." His voice remained perfectly calm.

I bit the inside of my cheek, ignoring the jab, and forced my hands to continue working upward. But the heat of his skin, combined with the strange, magnetic pull radiating off his body, was making my head spin.

And then, deep inside my chest, something stirred.

Not a thought. Not a heartbeat.

Something answered.

My wolf.

A soft, unfamiliar rumble vibrated beneath my ribs, flaring briefly before vanishing back into the dark.

My breath caught in my throat. For eighteen years, I had been empty inside. I had never felt a wolf. But in this exact moment, touching his skin, something buried deep within me had finally stirred.

"Lady Arianna," the prince's cold voice snapped me out of my shock. "You stopped again."

"I'm sorry, Your Highness."

His jaw set into a hard line. "Stop making mistakes."

A flare of anger rushed through me. "Then perhaps you should stop distracting me," I retorted before I could stop myself.

Doctor Alaric looked at me as though I had just slapped the Crown Prince.

The prince didn't yell. Something unreadable crossed his face, his fingers tightening once against the armrest before his lips pressed thin. "Continue."

Following the doctor's earlier instructions, I worked my hands above his knee. The feeling returned, stealing my attention for a second.

My fingers drifted too high, brushing the inside of his thigh.

His entire body went rigid beneath my hands. For the briefest second, even his breathing stopped. Then every muscle tightened sharply, and his breath left him in a sharp exhale.

"Was that intentional?" His voice dropped into a dangerous rasp that made the hairs on my arms stand up.

I snapped back to reality, horror washing over me as I realized where my hands had landed. I pulled my hands back instantly. "NoI'm sorryit was an accident"

"Thats enough, Doctor," the prince interrupted, his voice icy and tight. "Leave."

Doctor Alaric glanced between us and hesitated, then bowed. "Lady Arianna, let us call it a day."

Panicked and eager to put distance between us, I hurried after the physician.

He opened the heavy door, and I stepped toward the threshold.

"Lady Arianna."

His voice stopped me.

I turned back slowly.

The blindfolded prince sat near the window, his face angled unerringly toward me.

"The doctor may leave," he said smoothly. "You will stay."

Doctor Alaric hesitated again, glanced back at me, then bowed and stepped into the corridor.

The door shut.

The lock clicked.

There were no guards.

No doctor.

Only Prince Cassian.

Arianna’s POVThe world above me tilted, and for a few seconds, I forgot how to breathe. What was she saying?“What do you mean by the person’s life will be used to save the Crown Prince’s?”“It’s just as I have said, Your Highness. They want a life in exchange for the life and safety of the Crown Prince.”I felt the blood drain from my face. I was still finding it hard to comprehend what I just heard.“You mean…” I trailed off, trying to figure out the right words to say. But nothing came out.“Yes.” Lady Helena’s voice cracked. “They want one member of the Valtheris Royal Family as the price for peace.”For several seconds, I couldn’t speak. My mind kept struggling to process her words. All this time, I had thought I was volunteering to travel to Dravaryn to negotiate peace. I had thought I would simply walk into their kingdom, speak with their King, understand his demands and hopefully find a way to end the war. But that wasn’t what this was. They didn’t want a negotiator. They wan

  • THE LYCAN PRINCE'S BREEDER   A Life for A Life

Arianna’s POVFor a few seconds, I didn’t say a word. I just stood at the door entrance, staring at him.I reminisced on his words.“Just make sure you come back safely to me. You’re not a nobody. You are Arianna, my wife and the future Queen of Valtheris Kingdom. You matter more than you think. Always remember that.”The way he said those words felt personal. Far too personal for someone who he saw as just a vessel.Though I had heard Cassian call me his wife before, especially when he needed to remind others of my position. But this was different. There was something warm and possessive in his voice when he called me that. Something that had made my heart skip and butterflies dance in my belly. I lowered my gaze, suddenly feeling warmth spread across my cheeks. Why did those words affect me so much?Maybe because no one except my mother had ever reminded me of how much I mattered.Growing up, I had always been reminded of what I lacked.A wolf-less Omega, who had never been consider

Arianna’s POV“Arianna, how could you have said that?” Cassian’s voice cut through the room.He was standing before me, his blindfold gone and his intense gaze fixed on me.“Said what?” I pretended not to understand what he meant, when in actuality, I did.“Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about. I’m being serious.”“And I’m serious too, Your Highness.”I saw his jaw tightened as if he was trying to stop himself from losing his temper. “You just volunteered to walk into Dravaryn despite knowing how dangerous the Kingdom is.”“I volunteered to negotiate, not to start a war,” I replied calmly. “Do you even know what you are getting into? Why do you keep getting yourself involved in dangerous and complicated matters?” His voice was low, but I could hear the anger beneath it.I let out a deep sigh. “Cassian, I am merely trying to end this war.”“I know you’re trying to save us all, but it shouldn’t be at the detriment of your own life. Do you have any idea what could happe

Arianna's POV“Princess Arianna, please come forward and tell us the solution you promised to provide us with today,” the councilman standing in the middle of the chamber said.Silence enveloped the room, and every eye in the room was on me. They all waited patiently… waited for me to stand up and disgrace myself. But nothing of such would be happening.I confidently rose to my feet and walked toward the councilman, standing beside him where everyone could see me. I turned to the King, the Queen and the council, giving them a polite bow.“Good morning, Your Majesties. Good morning, Council Members.”“Good morning, Princess Arianna,” they responded, though some voices sounded as though they were being forced to answer.I straightened and looked around the chamber. I took a deep breath before my lips parted open.“I spent the past few days thinking about the conflict between Valtheris and Dravaryn. I studied everything I could find about the history between both kingdoms, the previous n

Cassian's POV“I’m fine,” I finally managed to say.“You're sure?” she sounded unconvinced.“Yes.”She studied my face for another few seconds before finally lowering her hand, relief washing over her features.“I’m glad.”Those two words hit me harder than they should have. My heart began racing wildly in my chest for a reason I didn’t know. I looked away immediately. Why was she like this? Why did she care so much about me?“You should be worried about yourself,” I muttered, looking back at her.She frowned.“I am.”“Then why are you asking about me?”Her expression softened.“Because I saw what happened to you.”My jaw tightened.“Then, shouldn’t you be afraid of me?”“I was.”Her response took me aback. She lowered her gaze to her injured arm.“When you attacked me, I was terrified. But not anymore.”Guilt clawed at my chest. Not anymore?“Why?”“Why what?” confusion washed over her.“Why did you stay despite knowing you could have died? And why aren’t you scared of me anymore?S

I had hurt her.“Damn it,” I muttered under my breath.I carefully laid her on the bed and reached for the small medical kit in the drawer beside my desk.I had to treat her myself. I couldn't call the royal physician. Because the moment the physician stepped into this room and saw the state of it, questions would follow. Why was the Crown Prince's study destroyed? Why was the Crown Princess injured? The last thing I needed was the royal family discovering the terrifying thing happening to me.
