Arianna's POV

I stood frozen in the middle of the chamber, unable to process everything that had just happened.

Before I could gather my thoughts, the King rose from his throne, his towering presence immediately silenced the whispers spreading through the chamber.

"Arianna of the Lunarcrest Pack."

I forced myself to meet his gaze.

"You will not be returning to the Lunarcrest Pack,” the King said, his voice leaving no room for negotiation.

My heart skipped a beat.

Not... returning?

The King continued as though we were discussing the weather.

"The palace will become your residence effective immediately."

Effective immediately?

"Your personal affairs will be handled by the Crown,” he continued. "Your belongings will be retrieved. Servants will be assigned to you, and suitable chambers have already been prepared."

Prepared?

They had already decided everything before asking whether I agreed? Did my opinion not matter at all?

“Helena,” the King called, dismissing me like I didn’t matter.

Lady Helena stepped forward.

"Your Majesty."

"Take her to her chambers and explain the terms."

“Yes, Your Highness,” she bowed.

At the King's command, the court was dismissed, and the throne room began to empty.

My gaze drifted toward the prince. As if aware of my gaze, he slowly lifted his head.

Though his sightless eyes revealed nothing, I felt an icy certainty settle over me.

Somehow…

He knew I was there.

Then he turned away, disappearing into the private corridor without another word.

"Follow me, Lady Arianna," Lady Helena commanded smoothly.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and followed her out of the throne room into the soaring corridors of the inner palace.

As we walked, my eyes instinctively mapped our surroundings. I counted four armored guards stationed at the eastern archway. The windows were too narrow, the drop to the courtyard stone was too far.

The eastern corridor is useless. I need another route.

I glanced sideways and found Helena watching me. Her gaze shifted from my face to the window latch, then back again. Her posture stiffened, though her expression remained completely unreadable.

"Lady Helena," I said, keeping my voice level. "What does being the 'Primary Bride' actually mean for me?"

Helena did not slow her pace, her heels continued clicking against the polished floor. "It means the Crown has chosen you. Your duty is to bear the royal heir."

She stopped outside a set of massive gilded doors, turning to face me.

"Your position is fragile," Helena explained, her tone devoid of emotion. "There are only two ways to lose your place. First, the night of the ceremony, you will undergo the Royal Compatibility Rite. Today proved his wolf will tolerate your scent in the throne room, but the rite determines whether it will tolerate you when his control is weakest. If his wolf rejects you, your selection ends."

My stomach churned. One moment of submission meant nothing. Tomorrow, it might kill me.

"Second," Helena continued, "you have ninety days—three lunar cycles—to conceive a healthy royal heir. If you fail within that window, another candidate will replace you."

She pushed open the double doors to reveal a lavish suite.

"Starting tomorrow at dawn," Helena added, stepping into the room, "you will report directly to the Crown Prince's private chambers to assist the royal physicians."

I blinked, taken aback. "Assist them? In doing what?"

Helena regarded me.

"The royal physicians will explain your duties," she said. "You're the only woman his wolf didn't try to kill."

Before I could ask anything more, Helena stepped back into the corridor and took hold of the heavy gilded handle.

"Rest, Lady Arianna. The royal tailors will arrive shortly to fit your wedding dress. Do not attempt to wander. The guards outside have strict orders to keep you within these walls."

The heavy door shut behind Helena, and the lock turned with a heavy, final thud.

I stood alone in the center of the opulent room.

I didn't ask what happened to failed brides. I had a feeling no one would ever speak of them again.

Crossing over to the high arched window, I looked down at the courtyard far below. Armored guards paced the perimeter wall, their black steel glinting in the dying sunlight.

There were no negotiations here. I wasn't a bride. I was a womb with a deadline.

My thoughts drifted back to my pack's damp cellar, to my mother's feverish face as she coughed into a bloodstained cloth.

Beta Craig’s words before I was dragged into the royal carriage rushed back at me.

You will do whatever the royal family demands, and you will become the surrogate bride. Win or watch your mother die.

I had no reason to trust him. But trapped inside these stone walls, his threat was the only thing keeping my mother alive.

I had to stay.

Three days until the wedding.

Tomorrow morning, I would walk into the Crown Prince's private chambers.

  • THE LYCAN PRINCE'S BREEDER   The Beggar Is My Fated Mate

Arianna’s POV I slowly lifted my gaze to look at the figure standing a few feet away from me. Whose voice was that? Was he someone I knew? All I was met with was a strange-looking man dressed shabbily. His hair was rough, and he was covered in dirt as if he hadn’t washed himself in days. But despite how tattered he looked, there was something about him that caught my attention. His eyes. They looked so familiar, as though I had seen them somewhere before. But where? I tried running through my memory, but nothing came to mind. Maybe I was mistaken. And I shouldn’t be worried about whether I knew him or not. I should be grateful that he had shown up at the last minute to save me. “Get away from her,” his thick, rough voice echoed through the forest once again. His voice was so harsh that I flinched where I sat. The rogues exchanged looks, fear flashing across their faces. For a brief moment, I thought they were going to back away and take to their heels. Instead, they burst i

  • THE LYCAN PRINCE'S BREEDER   My Savior

Arianna’s POV I woke up to the feeling of something cold touching my face. I groaned and slowly opened my eyes. The first thing I noticed was the ground beneath me. I was lying on damp leaves and mud. I frowned, confusion washing over me. Where was I? I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my head. I pressed a hand against my temple. Then, the memories came rushing back to me. The hut. The couple. The food. My eyes widened and I quickly checked my shoulder. My backpack was gone. So was the gold and the coins Cassian had given me before I left the palace. My hands began to tremble. “No...” My breath shook as I searched around me frantically, hoping I would find the bag nearby. But nothing. They had taken everything. The couple had drugged me, stolen my belongings, and abandoned me somewhere in the forest. Unshed tears stung my eyes. How could I have been so foolish? I had survived dangerous beasts, and a carriage driver who abandoned me. Yet I had allowed tw

  • THE LYCAN PRINCE'S BREEDER   A Trap Disguised as Kindness

Arianna’s POV I held the badge tightly in my hand, staring at the name engraved on its surface. Lucian. Who was he? How did he end up being injured in the forest? I looked around again still hoping to see him, but there was no sign of him. Perhaps he had transformed into a human and left while I was asleep. But if that was the case, why had he left his badge behind? Was it an intentional act or did it drop from him without him noticing? I slipped the badge into the pocket of my dress. Although I didn’t know who he was, something told me he was more than I thought he was. With one final glance at the spot where he had been lying, I picked up my backpack and continued my journey. The morning sun had already risen above the trees, casting golden rays across the forest. I walked for hours. My legs began to ache, and the soles of my feet hurt with every step. I had barely slept, and my stomach was beginning to growl. I stopped several times, gulping water to quench my thirst. Bu

  • THE LYCAN PRINCE'S BREEDER   A Wolf Named Lucian

Arianna’s POVFor some minutes, I just stood frozen at a spot, thinking about the near-death experience I had just had.If not for the ring, was that how I would have died?I found a spot to sit, resting against a tree. I opened my backpack and pulled out a bottle of water, taking a gulp.I was still trying to calm my racing heart when my mind went back to the ring.I lifted my hand and stared at it. It had stopped glowing. It now looked like an ordinary silver ring again, as though nothing had happened.“What exactly are you?” I whispered.Of course, I got no answer because I wasn’t expecting an object to give me one. I sighed and rested my hand on my lap. I couldn't stay here forever.I still had to get to safety, and the only thing I could do was keep moving. After resting for a while, I got back on my feet and continued walking. The forest seemed even quieter now.Every few steps, I glanced around, expecting another beast to jump out at me. But nothing happened.“Maybe the ring

  • THE LYCAN PRINCE'S BREEDER   The Ring That Protected Me

Arianna’s POVI stared into the darkness before me. And for a moment, I didn't know what to do.Going back was impossible. The carriage was already long gone, and even if I tried to follow its tracks, I had no idea how far it had travelled before leaving me here. The only thing I could do was move forward.I looked down at the compass in my hand, the needle pointing toward the direction I needed to go.Right through the forest. I took a deep breath and tightened my grip around the compass.“You can do this, Arianna,” I whispered through a shaky breath. I adjusted the straps of my backpack and forced my feet to move. Each step I took was heavier than the last. Soon afterward, darkness dominated the sky. The forest was much darker than I had expected. There were no lamps to guide my steps. I looked up at the sky and thankfully, the moon was bright enough for me to see where I was going. There were no lively sounds. Just the occasional rustling of leaves and the sound of my own foot

  • THE LYCAN PRINCE'S BREEDER   Abandoned in the Forest

Arianna’s POVAs soon as I entered the carriage and sat down, the driver pulled away from the palace.I remained silent, my gaze fixed on the window as the walls of Valtheris slowly disappeared behind me.The familiar towers of the kingdom became smaller and smaller until they were totally out of sight. I took a shaky breath when the realization fully dawned on me. I was all alone now. There was no Cassian to save me. I had left, and there was no turning back now.I rested my head against the carriage window, watching the scenery outside change as we travelled farther away from the kingdom. But despite the beautiful landscape passing before my eyes, my mind remained stuck on the conversation I had with Cassian before I left.“You are not going to give them what they want.”What exactly had he meant by that? Was he talking about the sacrifice? Had he known all along that Dravaryn didn't simply want peace?Had he known that the council and his parents had chosen me as the price for th
