Arianna had spent her entire life being called a bastard, a wolf-less disgrace, and the greatest shame of the Lunarcrest Pack. But when her sick mother’s life was threatened, she had no choice but to enter the royal selection for the Lycan Prince's surrogate bride. She never expected to be chosen. Until the royal physicians discovered a shocking secret about her body—one that made her the most valuable candidate in the entire kingdom. Suddenly, Arianna found herself standing before the most powerful royal family in the Lycan Kingdom. And then she met him. The blind and crippled Lycan Prince everyone believed was dying. A man whose terrifying wolf had rejected every woman brought before him. But when the prince's savage wolf attacked every other candidate, it did something no one expected when Arianna approached. It bowed to her. And then the Lycan Prince spoke. "It will be her." Three days later, Arianna was forced to marry the most feared Lycan Prince in the kingdom. But the palace held secrets no one warned her about. The prince wasn’t as helpless as the world believed. His wolf wasn’t the only thing hiding a dangerous secret. And Arianna soon discovered that she wasn't chosen merely to give the royal family an heir. She was chosen because she might be the only woman capable of saving the dying Lycan Prince.

Arianna’s POV In twenty minutes, I would enter the royal selection to become the dying Lycan Prince's surrogate. I didn't want to win, but I couldn't afford to lose either. If I succeeded, I would spend the rest of my life bearing an heir for a prince I had never met. If I failed, my mother would die. Tick. Tick. Tick. The harsh metallic echo of the grandfather clock cut through the suffocating silence of my small room, snapping me out of my spiraling thoughts. I checked the face of the clock. 18 minutes left. My heart began racing faster than it should have. He should have been here by now. Liam, the future Alpha of our pack, had promised it. "I'll come before the Royal Guards arrive, Ari. We'll leave together, and we'll take your mother somewhere Beta Craig will never find us." I had held on to those words for days. They were the only thing keeping my hope alive. I trusted him. Why wouldn't I? For three years, Liam had been my sanctuary. While the rest of the pack sneered at me as a wolf-less disgrace and Beta Craig’s dirty mistake, Liam held my hand in public and silenced the whispers before they could reach me. He made me believe I belonged. He promised I would stand beside him as his Luna. He even gave me a simple silver locket. Though the chain was noticeably tarnished, he swore it was an heirloom his mother handed down to him. I had treasured every word. We were supposed to run away together. Tick. Tick. 13 minutes. I fidgeted with my hands, my chest tightening. "Liam..." I whispered into the quiet room. "Where are you?" Suddenly, heavy iron hooves echoed outside in the courtyard. I rushed to the window and pulled back the sheer curtain. Down below, black-armored warriors rode through the main gates, their silver spears gleaming beneath the harsh afternoon sun. The Royal Guards had arrived earlier than expected. The entire pack gathered in awe, watching the royal entourage. To them, being chosen by the royal court was a sacred honor. But they weren't the ones being dragged to the Valtheris Kingdom to sell their bodies to a dying, savage prince. My gaze darted back to the clock. 9 minutes. Panicked sweat slicked my palms. Did Beta Craig’s guards intercept him? Was he delayed? Or... did he back out? No. I aggressively shook my head, refusing the poisonous thought. Liam wouldn't abandon me. He couldn't. If he couldn't reach me, I had to go to him. I gathered the skirts of the simple linen dress my mother had sewn for me before illness stole the strength from her hands. The faint scent of her lavender soap still clung to the fabric. Swallowing the lump in my throat, I slipped out the door. The hallway was clear. The house guards were downstairs kissing up to the royal entourage. I slipped toward the back staircase. Though Beta Craig never truly acknowledged me, he allowed me to stay on the Beta floor. The top floor, however, belonged exclusively to Alpha Damian and his family. A Pack House was built strictly on hierarchy, its air heavy with the suffocating scent of Alpha dominance. Normally, stepping foot up there was forbidden. But Liam had shown me every secret passage and loose floorboard. I gathered my skirts and hurried up the stairs as fast as my trembling legs could carry me. 7 minutes. The top floor was unnaturally silent. My ears rang with the rushing of my own blood. Please, Liam. Just be there. I needed him, more than I had ever needed anyone. Relief washed over me when I reached the end of the corridor and spotted his room. His scent lingered outside the room. "I knew you'd be here," I whispered to myself, a small smile touching my lips. I hurried toward the door and lifted my hand to knock. 3 minutes left. Before my knuckles touched the wood, a soft, breathless moan drifted through the heavy oak. I froze. My hand remained suspended in mid-air. Another moan followed, sharper this time, accompanied by a man’s low, rumbling chuckle. The blood drained instantly from my face. "No... No..." I whispered, desperately shaking my head as my trembling fingers wrapped around the brass doorknob. "No, no, no..." It couldn't be Liam. He loved me. He had sworn before the Moon Goddess that I was the only woman he would ever call his Luna. Taking a shaky breath, I pushed the door open. A white dress lay discarded carelessly on the rug, followed by a discarded leather belt and boots. My breath hitched. My heartbeat slowed to a terrifying stillness. "No..." 0 minutes. The clock downstairs chimed, signaling my time was up, but my entire universe froze right then and there. Liam was on the bed. His bare back faced me, his arms wrapped around the woman beneath him. Long, snow-white hair spread across the pillows. I knew that hair. I knew whose it was. My entire body went numb. My lips parted, but no sound came out. That was her. Seraphina. My stepsister.Arianna's POV Liam stared at Cassian as though he hadn't expected such a question. For several seconds, he said nothing. Then, to my surprise, he took a step backward. “Your Highness, I believe the person who committed the offence should be punished.” A stunned silence followed. I glanced at Seraphina. Her eyes widened as she stared at the man she had just called the love of her life. “Liam?” she whispered. Beta Craig immediately stepped forward. “What nonsense are you talking about? She's your fiancée!” Liam turned toward him, looking irritated. “And what does that have to do with anything?” Beta Craig's mouth fell open. “She is the woman you're supposed to marry! How can you stand there and allow them to do this to her?” Liam scoffed. “Being my fiancée doesn't mean I should die for her.” Seraphina looked as though someone had slapped her. “Liam…” He barely glanced at her. “I love you, Seraphina, but I'm not going to throw my life away because of something you did.” H
Arianna’s POV“Let's proceed.”Cassian's words sent another wave of panic through the chamber.“No! Please, Your Highness!” Seraphina screamed, desperately trying to pull away from the guards. “I promise I won't do it again! I'll never go near your mother-in-law again. Please!”Cassian remained unmoved.“Bring her forward.”The guards exchanged a brief glance before dragging Seraphina toward the centre of the chamber.“Father!” she cried, turning desperately toward Beta Craig. “Father, don't let them do this to me!”My father looked as though he might collapse.“Your Highness, please! Spare my daughter. I beg you!”Cassian didn't even spare him a glance.“Did you not hear my order?”Evander immediately stepped forward.“Your Highness, the guards are waiting for your instruction.”“Tell them to proceed.”My stomach tightened.I glanced at the burning charcoal. Its red glow flickered beneath the metal tray, and the sight made my chest feel strangely heavy.I wanted Seraphina to pay for
Arianna’s POVMy father's expression shifted as Cassian's words settled over him.For a moment, he looked as though he hadn't understood what had just been said. Then he quickly turned toward Seraphina.“Your Highness, I believe there has been a misunderstanding,” he began, forcing a smile. “Seraphina may have made a mistake, but I assure you she never intended to cause anyone harm.”Cassian stared at him.“A mistake?”“Yes, Your Highness. She's young and sometimes acts without thinking. I will speak to her personally and make sure she understands the seriousness of her actions.”He turned toward Seraphina.“Seraphina, apologize to the Crown Princess. Tell her you are sorry for what happened to her mother.”Seraphina immediately nodded, looking relieved that her father was finally there.“I'm sorry, Arianna. I didn't mean…”“Silence,” Cassian ordered. Her mouth snapped shut.He looked at Beta Craig again.“Did you come here to take responsibility for your daughter's actions, or are yo
Arianna’s POVFor a moment, nobody spoke. The silence was so heavy that I could hear Seraphina's uneven breathing from where she stood.“Your Highness, surely you don't mean that,” Alpha Harold finally said.Cassian turned his gaze toward him.“Do I look like I'm joking?”Alpha Harold's lips parted, but no words came out immediately. One of the elders cleared his throat, rising to his feet. “Your Highness, we understand your anger, but such punishment is rather severe. Perhaps there is another way to make her answer for her actions.”“Another way?” Cassian repeated. His fingers tapped slowly against the armrest of his wheelchair. “Tell me, Elder. What punishment would you suggest for someone who deliberately mistreats a sick woman? Someone who denies her food, forces her to work beyond her strength, and threatens anyone who dares to help her?”The elder lowered his head. “I only meant that we should consider the laws of the pack.”“And I am asking you to consider the crime.”Cassian’s
