Chapter 7: Anything but an Angel

Atlas' pov:

"Rory? Is everything OK?" I asked, but what I got in response was the echo that reverberated in the passageway and her groans coming from her room.

I quickly made my way through the packhouse, my footfalls heavy on the ground as I briskly walked towards Aurora's room.

My sentinels, who had been on high alert, followed me as I moved. Their footsteps were quick and light as they kept up with me, ready to protect me and my daughter at a moment's notice.

When we arrived at Aurora's door, I gestured for my sentinels to stay back. I didn't want them to scare my little girl any further. I took a deep breath before slowly pushing open the door to her room.

The sound of my footsteps stopped her from screaming any louder, and she turned to face me with tears streaming down her face. I could see the fear in her eyes, and I knew that she'd been having a nightmare.

I walked over to her bed and sat down beside her, running my hand gently through her hair. "It's okay, my little angel,"
