chapter nine

I stood still as if I had been dowsed with a bucket of cold water. Alpha Duncan, his beta and Jacobi were all in alpha Duncan's office, we had left the hall  to his office for a more private discussion after the commotion we had caused earlier.

"This is very difficult to believe" alpha Duncan said in wonder " I always knew Kayden must be the son of a powerful wolf but I didn't expect......" He looked at Jacobi and then at me " this is just hard to believe"

"But it did so deal with it" Jacobi said

"I'm sorry your majesty, I didn't mean to offend you in any way" alpha Duncan pleaded, bowing his head slightly. I had never seen him bow to anyone before, and this was quite shocking to see.

Jacobi didn't even spare him a glance and just turned to me.

"Get your things, we're leaving immediately" he said in a tone that left no room for questions. But I wasn't a little dog that needed an owner, so I was gonna ask questions.

"What do you mean  get your things?" I asked

He raised an eyebrow at me. For a second there I could have sworn I saw a look of surprise cross his handsome face, but it was quickly replaced with an icy and cold expression "what do you think I mean?"

I scoffed "I'm not going anywhere" I folded my arms around my middle

He moved slowly towards me with the feral grace of a predator.

" If you think that I would let my son and  the mother of my son stay somewhere other than by my side then your dead wrong"  he didn't yell, he didn't even raise his voice a little bit yet I felt like he had. A cold shiver ran down my spine but it wasn't because of pleasure, it was because of fear.

"I can't just get up and leave the pack, they took me in and protected me when I needed someone. I owe them more than that" I said with my brows furrowed together

"I can make an arrangement with alpha Duncan" he said

"No, alpha Duncan deserves more than that. I'm not leaving the pack jacobi" I said in defiance

He laughed a hearty laugh, the sound of his laughter did something to my insides.

"What's so funny?" I asked confused

I stared at alpha Duncan and only then did I notice the look of pure terror in his face, even his beta looked horrified. Oh shit! What did I do wrong this time.

"What is it?" I asked again but I still got no response from anyone.

Alpha Duncan rushed forward and knelt down in front of Jacobi

"Your majesty  please forgive her, she is not aware of the rules" he pleaded

I stared in shock but I knew better than to continue talking, so I just kept my dang mouth shut.

"Get up" Jacobi ordered. Alpha Duncan got up but his head was still bowed  "You have protected my son and the mother of my child, for that you shall be honored. I Jacobi thoryan solely declare that alpha Duncan be given a seat at the royal chambers"

At his declaration, alpha Duncan bowed again.

"Thank you very much your majesty! I will not let you down!" he said, the excitement was evident in his voice

"Is that enough for you?" Jacobi asked me

"Enough for me? What do you mean enough for me?" I asked a little bit offended

"You wanted to repay him and I have done so" he said

"I....." I was about to say something but then alpha Duncan cut me off

" I am extremely grateful your majesty. Although I did not help her to get rewarded but this is more than enough, in fact it is too much" alpha Duncan said with a huge smile on his face.

I didn't know what position Jacobi had given him but it sure as hell seemed to be a really big deal for alpha Duncan to be acting that way.

"Very well." He said to alpha Duncan then turned to me" I will be back in an hour to pick the both of you up. Be ready by then" he said in a cold icy voice before  walking out.

I stood there in the middle of the room confused as hell. What the fuck just happened?

"I must say Claire, I knew you were brave but I didn't know you were stupidly brave." Beta moris said

"Stupidly brave? What's that supposed to mean?" I asked confused

"You don't know what you just did?" He scoffed

"It's okay moris,  We did not get killed and his majesty was more than generous to offer me such a prestigious position" alpha Duncan said

"We could have gotten killed? Why?" I asked

Beta moris looked at me like I had too heads

"Are you joking or do you not know" he said

"No I don't know" I said

"Of course you wouldn't know" he said, realizing that I am human and was not born into their wolf world, which explains why I don't know the rules.

"Claire no one defies his royal majesty. no wolf, talk less of a human has ever talked back to him when he gives an order and no one ever calls him by his first name. You did all of that and you're still standing to tell the tale, things like that are considered to be a miracle here, you should be more than grateful" beta moris said

"That can't be true" I said in disbelief " right alpha Duncan?"

He only stared at me with a look that said " do we look like we're joking".

My throat suddenly became dry. I could have fucking died and I didn't even know it

"You need to start packing Claire or else he won't like it. His majesty is not your everyday wolf that you can mess with, he is lethal, the deadliest creature alive." Alpha Duncan said in a tone that made my blood run cold.
