Chapter XV

Alec and Kenneth followed Monica, the lady who was looking after the palace for many years until they reached the main hall. It was dark and dusty, and Monica hurried to open the curtains to let the moonlight illuminate the large round room. White dirty sheets covered chairs and tables, and spiderwebs were all over the two thrones. It looked like the palace was abandoned for a long time. After the late king and queen's death, many palaces around the kingdom became inhabited as there were no more receptions nor events to be held.

"My apologies, Your Majesty," Monica nervously bowed to the young king, "We have not expected any guest for so many years. My family and I have been living in a small house in the backyard. We have not entered the palace in so long."

Kenneth nodded, "It is alright. I have never intended to come back here. I just needed a rest." he calmly said as he eyed Al
