Bella’s POV.

I was just coming down the stairs when I saw it.

The headline flashed across the giant TV in the living room, bold and unforgiving. "Aurora Black Linked to Illegal Transactions with Felix Novak's Mafia Network."

My heart skipped a beat.

I gripped the railing tighter and stared at the screen, like maybe I was reading it wrong. But no. There was her picture plastered beside Felix's.

I walked down slowly, each step heavier than the last.

Liam was on the couch, one leg crossed over the other, calmly sipping his drink like the world wasn't on fire.

I stopped at the bottom and looked right at him. "Did you do this?"

He didn't even hesitate. "Yes, Ma’am."

My breath caught. "Why would you... Why would you interfere with my life like this? What gives you the right to destroy her reputation?"

Liam's eyes didn't move from mine. "She's still your mother even if she doesn't love you, right?" he said quietly.
