Bella’s POV.

The morning drifted by slowly. Liam had been busy in his study for most of the day, leaving me to lounge around the bedroom with a book I wasn’t really reading. My thoughts kept circling back to Lily. The way she smirked, the way her eyes lingered on Liam as if he belonged to her, the way her tone carried that faint insult hidden under polite words.

I didn’t trust her, not even for a second.

Still, Liam had asked me to get along with her, at least until the weekend. Three days, he said. Three days of pretending. I could manage that much. But deep inside, I knew I wouldn’t stay quiet if she crossed the line again.

By late afternoon, I decided to go downstairs. Liam’s voice carried faintly through the hall, and I followed it until I reached the living room. He was standing near the window, phone in his hand, while Lily sat curled up on the couch with a fake sweetness spread across her face.
