“I’m sorry I dragged you along, I know you’re not exactly comfortable with me since we just met.” Carina says as she offers me a cup of coffee. “I can take you back to my brother if you want. He didn’t seem very eager to let you go either.” She chuckles lightly, taking the spot in front of me and pulling her cup to her side as she relaxes into her chair.

A small smile stretches my lips when I recalled Luca’s earlier annoyed disposition to let me go and I shake my head, still maintain contact with the mug between my hands. “No, it’s fine.”

The warm coffee sooths my palm through the ceramic mug and smells just as warm and soothing as it feels. She had added cream and sugar—while we were still in the kitchen—before giving it to me.

Carina’s home had a garden as well and she loves to spend most of her time here—it’s one thing I’ve learnt we had in common. The knowledge seemed to have put Rina in a good place as she led me to the back of the house.
