Alaric POV:

I watched as Marissa stirred in her sleep. I couldn’t believe she was pregnant, how dare she cheat on me and carry another man’s child. I snorted as she sat up, confused, and looked around the room after realizing where she was.

“My baby?” she asked when her eyes met mine. I moved closer to her bed.

“So you knew you were carrying a child for another man, a bastard while you were married to me.”

The thought of her and another man made me angry. I never loved her, but I married her, and then she slept around with other men.

“I didn’t sleep with anyone. You have to believe me,” she pleaded, still clutching her stomach. I scoffed and pinned her to the bed. I watched as fear crept into her eyes. She whimpered.

“I had the bastard removed. And don’t think I’ll let you go, you still have to pay for what you did to Stella. After I’m done with you, you will regret meeting me and everything you’ve done,” I said angrily.

“No, not the baby. You can’t harm my baby,” she sobbed, thrashing around the bed.

“You can’t do that to me. You didn’t kill my baby. You wouldn’t harm the baby,” I heard her say.

I laughed and looked away from her after releasing her. I couldn’t afford to look at her. I felt disgusted, and I wondered if it was for myself or for her.

I walked away from the room and went to the hospital director’s office. I saw Matt behind his desk. Matt is our friend, my best friend from childhood. He didn’t support me divorcing Marissa, aborting the bastard, or the idea that I was planning to get back with Stella.

“You know, we could still save the baby,” Matt said while tapping his finger on the table.

“You said it would be fifty-fifty,” I retorted, but the truth was I couldn’t stand the idea of her carrying another man’s child.

“What about Nova? She will need her mother. You went too far by letting Marissa sign off her parental rights. Nova is her child too,” Matt said with concern. I snorted.

“My daughter will not have a mother who is a whore, and I will not let that whore near my child,” I said. I had made my decision. Marissa would surely pay for cheating on me and hurting Stella.

“I still think you should investigate. Someone might be trying to frame her, you know,” he said as he looked at me, still tapping his fingers on the table.

“And who would want to frame her? There are pictures, and she even admitted it!” I yelled. I ran my hand over my face.

“Marissa would never do that!” he yelled back.

“Don’t yell at me. I knew you always loved her. You were obviously jealous when she chose me,” I spat.

“Yes, I was and then I was happy for her. But what did she get in return for her love? You’re blinded with rage. I swear to God you don’t deserve any bit of her,” he hollered, standing up. I moved closer to him and punched him in the face.

“You bastard! Don’t tell me what to do,” I screamed at him. He held up his arms, showing he surrendered, not wanting to fight.

“I don’t want to fight you. Even if I want to punch the hell out of you, Marissa wouldn’t want that,” he said and went back to sit.

“You obviously cheated on her too. When Stella came back and called you, you ran back to her. Marissa was there to pick your broken pieces when Stella left. She is part of what you are today,” he continued calmly, looking at me.

“I would have done it myself,” I said, looking away from him.

“No, I don’t think you would be able to,” he said. My jaw clenched as I looked angrily at him.

I opened my mouth to say something when a nurse rushed inside.

“Sorry for not knocking, sirs. The patient in VIP ward 203… disappeared,” she said, looking at both of us while catching her breath.

“What do you mean disappeared?” Matt asked as he stood up to pick up his coat.

“A nurse went to sedate her, since she had been crying furiously. But when she got there to check on her again, she wasn’t there,” she explained.

“What do you mean she disappeared!!” I shouted. I wasn’t done with her yet. I swear to God, when I find her…

“Have you checked the security cameras?” Matt asked as we walked out of his office.

“Yes, sir, we already did,” the nurse answered.

“Go now. Ask security to check inside the hospital and the vicinity,” Matt ordered. She quickly walked away.

We walked to her ward but found the bed empty. I checked the bathroom, hoping she would be there, but it was also empty.

A security guard later walked into the office. He said everywhere had been checked but there was no sign of her.

She fucking disappeared.
