LOGINI was currently watching a PBA replay in the living room of Yuan’s condo. Not that I really wanted to, but it was already playing on the TV when I arrived. Meanwhile, Yuan was in the bathroom taking a shower.
Right after breakfast, I came straight to his condo unit because of his text. I had no idea what kind of errand he had for me this time, but because I needed the money, I had no choice but to obey. I leaned back against the living room couch, eyes glued to the screen, analyzing each team's play. Even though I don't play basketball anymore, I still love watching it. One of my habits is studying the players' patterns, techniques, and movements. Sometimes, I can't help but predict their plays once I've figured them out. I was the team captain back in high school, so I used to love plotting plays and meddling with our coach, a habit I guess I've carried with me to this day. I noticed Yuan is a great player, but he lacks consistency. He can easily bypass defenders, but he struggles with shooting, especially from the corners. I don't know what his problem is. The last time I saw him play, he carried almost the entire scoring load for his team, he couldn't miss, purely bucket after bucket. But in this game, something definitely felt off. It probably wasn't because of his amnesia. Before I left his condo the other day, the bastard was fast asleep on my shoulder while I was watching the NBA. I just laid him down on the couch, left him in the living room, and went home to my apartment. So it wasn't like he was out of condition from a lack of sleep either. What could his problem be? My train of thought was cut short when Yuan suddenly appeared in front of me. He was standing behind the couch, leaning down and peering over at my face. "Hey, have you been here long?" he asked. I pushed his face out of my line of sight with my palm. "Yeah, for a while now. You took forever in the shower. You were probably jerking off in there," I blurted out unfiltered. I heard him chuckle softly at my remark. "What makes you say that? Must be something you do yourself, huh?" he teased. I just rolled my eyes. "I'm not horny like you, so don't compare me to yourself," I snapped back. "Why do you sound so defensive? Guilty, aren't you?" Stepping around from behind the couch, he climbed over and sat right beside me. "If you only called me over just to annoy me, then I'm leaving." I said without beating around the bush, my eyes still fixed on the TV. "You know, ever since you started working as my personal assistant, you've never actually acted like one. It feels like I'm the one who constantly has to adjust to you," he complained while ruffling my hair. I slapped his hand away from my head. "So it's my fault now? Who hired me in the first place?" I asked sarcastically. "Exactly. I'm almost starting to regret it. I feel like I'm getting the short end of the stick here," he said, his voice laced with amusement. "I'm definitely losing money on the service you're giving me." "That's probably the best thing you've ever said to me, " I told him while stretching my neck. "You're welcome, by the way. I'm glad you don't like my service, I'm actually really proud of myself right now," I continued, my voice thick with relief. At least I managed to get back at him a little. From the corner of my eye, I saw him shake his head. "You're really unbelievable," he murmured. "Thanks for the compliment," I replied sarcastically, finally turning to face him. "Can I go home now?" He smirked at my question and threw an arm around my shoulders. "You just got here and you already want to leave? You're making me lose even more money on this deal," he interjected. I looked away from him and turned back to the TV. "What do you want me to do now anyway?" I asked exasperatedly. "Wow, listen to you talk as if I give you a mountain of chores. When all you've done is sit on this couch." My eyes narrowed. "You think my job isn't hard? You've had your arm around me and been leaning on me almost the entire day. My body is getting numb," I complained, my patience slowly wearing thin once again. He removed his arm from my shoulder and crossed his arms. "That's your fault, too," he retorted. I raised an eyebrow and shot him a glare. "My fault? What the hell did I do to you, bastard, for it to be my fault that you're sticking to me like glue?" "You know, I like your perfume. I love how it smells. But since you refuse to tell me what brand you're using, I have no choice left but to stay close to you." I gritted my teeth at his words. "I told you, I'm not wearing any perfume or cologne," I explained again. "Are you telling me that what I'm smelling is just your natural scent?" he asked, looking genuinely incredulous. "Yes, what else would it be?" He shook his head slowly. "Impossible," he blurted out. "What do you mean, impossible?" I asked, my brow furrowing. "I didn't know Betas could release a scent like this. It's like they're..." He looked at me meaningfully. "...like they're an Omega." I forced myself to stay calm, even though I was panicking on the inside, terrified that this bastard might discover my secret. "Of course Betas like me have natural scents," I said, lifting my head slightly to stand firm by my answer. "Why? Are Alphas and Omegas the only ones allowed to have a body scent?" I challenged him. "Sure, we don't release pheromones, but we still have our own distinct natural scent." I had to keep making excuses. If I didn't, my secret would be completely exposed. Even though his brow remained furrowed, it seemed he bought my explanation. "Then..." I gasped as he suddenly pulled me closer. He wrapped both arms around my back and buried his head into the crook of my neck, inhaling my scent all over again as if he intended to consume every trace of it. "You're probably a unique Beta, then." His grip around me tightened. "Because as far as I remember, the scent of any Beta, or even Omega, I've met couldn't compare to yours," he said, his voice strained with intense desire. "Damn, I think your scent is getting stronger now," he muttered, sounding like he was struggling to hold back. Suddenly, I tried to catch a whiff of myself. Am I leaking pheromones right now? Please, no. Then it hit me— my heat cycle was just around the corner. Around this time, the scent my body produced would intensify. Worse yet, even when I took suppressants, I sometimes couldn't completely control my pheromones from leaking out. If I really was leaking pheromones right now, then I was deeply in serious trouble."Stay on the floor. I'm taking a shower first," I ordered him as we stepped into my room on the second floor.I didn't actually rent the entire apartment, just a single room. It was a modest two story building with three rooms on each floor. My room was small and barely furnished. It had only a single bed, a study table tucked into the corner, and a small wardrobe where I kept my modest collection of clothes.I caught Helios scanning the room with his eyes.Shaking my head, I turned my back on him, grabbed a towel, and picked out a fresh set of clothes from the closet. The disparaging comments those guys made earlier, especially Yuan’s remark about my place, suddenly flashed through my mind. But honestly, I couldn't care less about what Helios thought of it either. I hadn't asked him to come in. He chose to come here on his own, so he could just deal with it.I went downstairs to my private bathroom and took a shower. A few minutes later, I finished up and changed into my sleepwear, a
"Helios?" I blurted out his name in utter disbelief.I couldn't believe that the guy who mess with my mind last night was standing right in front of me—right in front of my apartment. The corner of his lips was tilted upward, carrying an amused glint as he witnessed the sheer confusion etched on my face."What are you doing here?" I asked, bewildered, my voice sounding rather annoyed. Out of all the things that could ruin my already ruined day, it had to be this bastard who's also a headache."Why? Do I no longer have the right to visit my other half?" he replied, giving me a meaningful look.I narrowed my eyes at him. "I'm not joking around with you, asshole," I hissed at him. "Are you stalking me?" I asked while furrowing my brow.He ran a hand through his hair, and I didn't know why, but when he did that, I felt a strange sensation in my stomach. Under the moonlight, I saw a strange glint in his eyes."Yeah, I'm stalking you," he said, giving me a cheeky grin.I gritted my teeth an
"What?!" I uttered, completely unable to believe him. What was this bastard even talking about? Did the lack of oxygen to his brain from when I choked him earlier mess with his mind? The corner of his lips tugged upward. "Yeah, so I can make full use of your services. I'm paying you a pretty high salary, after all," he said, giving a light shrug.I narrowed my eyes at him. "You bastard! Do you feel like what I did to you earlier wasn't enough? Do you want me to use a rope around your neck next time?" I threatened him."Neo, why are you so against living with me? Remember, you are my personal assistant and I am the one paying your debts, so you should follow whatever I tell you to do," he said in a serious tone, completely devoid of any sarcasm, as if he genuinely expected me to obey him.My eyebrow arched at his statement. "Hey, I’m just your personal assistant, not your property, get it? Ha?!" I snapped back at him."Hey, stop it, you two. This might turn into another fight," Stephen
"Bro, I caught your game last night. You guys almost lost!" Marcus suddenly mentioned in the middle of the group's conversation. We were back at the same private club we went to last time, the one that turned out to be owned by Jeno. Once again, we were inside the private room, sitting on a curved couch with a glass table in the center filled with various drinks and bar snacks.I was sitting in the corner, and as usual, Yuan was right beside me. He didn't have his arm around me, but his shoulder was pressed against mine while he sat with his arms crossed.Out of the corner of my eye, I saw his brow furrow slightly at Marcus's comment about his performance last night."What happened, man? You were on fire at the start of the game, but by the end of the third quarter, it was like you completely lost your focus," Alejandro added.I saw Yuan clench his jaw. "I don't really know either. Maybe because I saw something unpleasant..." he said in a heavy tone.I felt confused because he suddenl
"No way…" I said, utterly unable to believe him.The corner of his lips curved up, casting me a mischievous look. "Just kidding," he blurted out suddenly.I gritted my teeth and glared at him before kicking his foot with my shoe. It left a smudge on his pants, but he did nothing except laugh at me."Hey, why do you look like you’re disappointed?" he asked with a mischievous, teasing look.I scowled at him, pulled the lollipop out of my mouth, and yelled, "In your dreams!"He shook his head, the smile still lingering on his lips. He then pulled a handkerchief from his pocket andbegan dusting off the pants where my shoe had left a dirt mark from the kick."If you wanted me to apologize for what I’ve done to your pants, you won’t get it, because you deserved it anyway," I told him, my voice dripping with annoyance to make my frustration clear. He just offered me a smile while looking down. "Don’t you worry, I came prepared," he said, raising his handkerchief.I merely rolled my eyes, red
7:00 P.M. I was sitting in one of the courtside seats lined up inside the arena. I sat right at the front, my eyes fixed on the court. Yuan was currently playing and it was the third day of the PBA games, and his team had already made it to the semifinals. It was already the third quarter, with the score sitting at 84 to 65. Yuan’s team was leading by a wide margin, probably because he was in peak physical condition today. How could he not be, after finishing several times earlier? The bastard didn't even give my hands a rest. Fucking dickhead, he was really so annoying! I originally had no intention of watching today's game, but he forced me to come, claiming he needed me here. In reality, he just turned me into his personal caddie, though it was actually my job. He made me carry his tumbler, towel, shoes, clothes, and whatever else was stuffed inside his duffel bag. When a timeout was called, I saw Yuan jogging over in my direction instead of heading straight to his team bench.
