SHARON’S POV

For the longest moment, I cannot move.

My fingers shake around Daemon’s tiny body, my breath stuck somewhere between my lungs and my throat. Every noise around me blends into a muffled hum. There were footsteps, whispers, rustling leaves but none of it matters.

All I see is Roland’s retreating silhouette.

All I hear is his voice echoing inside my skull.

Enjoy my leftover.

My chest tightens until it physically hurts. I pull Daemon closer, so close his soft curls brush my chin. Daenerys rests in Morris’s arms, her little fist curled around his shirt, unbothered by the chaos that just erupted. Blessedly unaware.

I wish I could be unaware. Just for a second.

Morris steps closer, brushing his arm against mine, grounding me. “Sharon,” he says softly, gently. “They’re gone.”

That doesn’t comfort me.

People can leave and still haunt you.

“You’re shaking.” His voice dips lower, coaxing, like he’s speaking to a frightened animal. “Look at me.”

Slowly, I do.

His golden eyes are stea

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   CHAPTER NINETY ONE: A CALL FOR CELEBRATION OR MOURNING

SHARON’S POVThe moment my feet crossed the threshold of the palace, my heart shattered and stitched itself back together all at once.“Daemon,” I breathed. He was in Kelly’s arms, wriggling and babbling, his chubby fingers fisting the fabric of Kelly’s shirt like he’d been afraid the world might steal him away again. The second his eyes found mine, his face lit up in a way that nearly brought me to my knees.“Mama!” he squealed. It was not perfect, not clearly, but enough.I dropped Daenerys from my hip into Morris’s waiting arms without a second thought and rushed forward. Kelly barely had time to react before I snatched my son from him and crushed him to my chest.“Oh, my baby,” I sobbed, kissing his cheeks, his forehead, his nose, every inch of him I could reach. “My sweet boy. I missed you. I missed you so much.”Daemon laughed, delighted, patting my face with sticky hands as if nothing terrible had happened at all. As if his mother hadn’t been dragged away in the night. As if hi

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   CHAPTER NINETY: HIS OWN CHOICES

ROLAND’S POVI watched them leave from the balcony, my hands gripping the cold stone railing as if it were the only thing keeping me upright. And it was.Sharon looked back just once. And there was no regret or trepidation in her gaze, just pure relief. She was wrapped in Morris’s arms, Daenerys pressed safely between them, her small head tucked beneath his chin as if she had always belonged there. Morris moved like a man who had won a war, not just a battle. His shoulders squared, steps confident, his presence swallowing the night itself. His men surrounded them, a living wall of loyalty and victory, escorting what was mine away from me.And then, my chest burned. Not the dull ache I had grown used to, not the persistent cough I’d tried to ignore for months but a sharp, searing pain that ripped through my lungs like claws. I opened my mouth to breathe and instead tasted iron.Blood.I doubled over, coughing violently as red splattered against the stone floor. My knees buckled, and th

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   CHAPTER EIGHTY NINE: THE RESCUEp

SHARON’S POVThe first explosion shattered the illusion that I had any control left. The palace trembled like a wounded beast, stone groaning under the weight of violence as screams ripped through the air. My heart slammed painfully against my ribs, instinct screaming danger before my mind could catch up.Quickly, I picked up Daenerys and clutched her to my chest. “Shh… shh…” I whispered, even as my own body shook. “Mama’s here.”Another blast echoed, closer this time. Lights along the hallway flickered violently, shadows leaping across the walls like monsters. Somewhere below us, steel clashed against steel, wolves howled in fury, and men shouted orders that dissolved into chaos. This wasn’t jus an attack, it was a war.Roland appeared beside me almost instantly, his hand gripping my arm hard enough to hurt.“We’re moving,” he said sharply. “Now.”My stomach dropped.“No,” I said, pulling back. “What’s happening?”Even though I had a good idea what the answer to that was, I couldn’t

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   CHAPTER EIGHTY EIGHT: DEFEND AND OFFEND

SHARON’S POVI had learned to recognize my father’s footsteps long before I ever learned what love was supposed to feel like. They were measured. Deliberate. Heavy with authority. The kind of steps that announced judgment before a single word was spoken.I was seated near the window when he found me, Daenerys asleep against my shoulder, her soft breathing the only thing keeping me grounded. The Jordan pack palace felt colder than usual, the stone walls pressing in as though they knew I did not belong here.“Well,” my father said, stopping a few feet away from me. “I see captivity suits you. Must be the only way to get you to behave.”I slowly lifted my gaze to him.Age had done little to soften him. His hair was streaked with gray now, yes, but his eyes were the same, sharp, disapproving, always searching for faults like they were buried treasure.“If you’ve come to gloat,” I said calmly, “you can turn around and leave.”He scoffed. “Still disrespectful. Still stubborn. I suppose some

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   CHAPTER EIGHTY SEVEN: ROLAND’S SPECIAL SURPRISE

SHARON’S POVHope was a dangerous thing. I had learned that the hard way. Every time I thought things were finally getting better, they got worse. Far worse than I could ever imagine.I sat on the edge of the bed with Daenerys cradled against my chest, her tiny fingers tangled in the fabric of my dress as if I were the only solid thing left in her world. Every breath she took grounded me, reminded me that I was still here, still alive, still her mother. Around us, the room was too quiet. The kind of quiet that lulled you into forgetting that this was still a prison.I had been counting footsteps.Timing guards.Memorizing which floorboard creaked near the door and which corner of the hallway stayed shadowed longest at dawn.Escape lived in the details.I brushed a hand over Daenerys’s hair, my lips grazing her temple. We will get out, I promised her silently. No matter what it costs me.A knock sounded and my heart jumped into my throat. Why was I so scared? I haven’t started my escap

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   CHAPTER EIGHTY SIX: FAILED AGAIN

MORRIS’S POVI was losing my fucking mind.It felt like the time Aemond took her from me. I couldn’t think, I couldn’t function. The only difference now was she wasn’t pregnant. But that did not ease my conscience because that bastard had my wife and my daughter. I felt so incompetent. There was no better way to describe it. Every hour that passed without Sharon felt like a blade carving deeper into my chest, slow and deliberate. Sleep no longer came easily. When it did, it was poisoned with visions of chains, blood, and Sharon screaming my name while I remained utterly useless.Roland had taken my queen and my princess from under my own roof. What could be more insulting and degrading than that? The thought of that bastard getting his grimy hand on my wife made my hands shake.I paced the length of the boardroom like a caged animal, boots striking the polished floor hard enough that it echoed off the walls. Maps were spread across the long table. They were detailed sketches of the J
