Tristan was on his way to get all that they will need, so they could remain in the underground sanctuary for a few more days so that Isabella could rest well and also give him enough time to know how to go about protecting her, the baby and the prophecy, his mind went back to how it had all began.

He was not always a rogue, he had his own pack, The eagle claw pack. He had been an exceptional and fearless leader who was greatly loved by his people until things had been to go the wrong way, the rogues were becoming more than the kingdoms, the values of the werewolf kingdom were no longer upheld and tyranny became the order of the day.

Victor, a former exile of the kingdom had returned with his gang of warriors and had begun to sow seeds of disunity among the pack members causing a division and he had openly challenged Tristan. He couldn't forget that night the night everything had changed, the night he had run away and labeled a rogue.

He remembered how everything had been so quiet that

Tristan remembered they were not allowed to shift during the fight. They were asked to fight in their human form. Victor had hit Tristan first but he had dodged the blow and hit Victor with an even harder blow. His beta Leandro watched and hated the fact that he could not do anything as he hated Victor with a passion. They both fought very hard with each of them having serious injuries. Victor fought desperately with a hunger for the title in his eyes. The pack members watched like hungry wolves. Victor's people hoped for him to win. As they fought Tristan perceived that Victor's fight was not just about winning and he confronted him while he held him down.“What is it that you want Victor, Tristan asked him. “I want revenge” Victor replied, “You took everything from me.”“I took care of the pack and made sure that our people survived,” Tristan said. Victor blinded by rage ran with force towards Tristan but he dodged him and Victor fell flat on his face to the ground and the crowd

Isabella looked at Tristan and knew immediately that something was wrong, but she didn't say a thing as Felicity was with them. She tried to make casual conversation.“Hope your outing went well” she asked him. “Yes” Tristan replied “I was able to get us enough to last just for tonight. By morning we will need to get more supplies to last us till the next day. I'll take over from Jasper now so he can rest a bit as he will be taking the first shift tonight.” “Okay” Isabella replied But the real questions in her mind she couldn't ask Tristan and then suddenly she said to him “Can I come and keep you company while you watch? I'm tired of being forced to rest and I think I've rested enough” Tristan smiled and said “I was wondering when you would say this” and they both laughed. They went outside together and Tristan spoke to Jasper.“Hey man, you can go and rest now so you can take the first shift tonight. I'll keep watching now with Isabella." "Okay thanks” Jasper said “I need t

  • THE PURE ALPHA    The Curse of his bloodline

Tristan had told Isabella that he had fought Victor and gave up because his people had betrayed him, but what he didn't tell her was that there was another reason why he had chosen to leave. That night when Tristan had run away from the pack, from Victor and all that they represented. He had gone straight to a place where no man dared to camp. He had gone to the burial ground, a place where the first Alpha of his bloodline had been buried. That night he had been afraid of the ghosts, not the ones buried in the burial ground but the ones that were deep inside of him.He had gone straight to the tomb stone that was the largest among all the others, there was a symbol carved on the stone and he carried the same symbol on his chest, it had been there as long as he could remember. It was the mark of the curse, and his father had told him all about the mark. Tristan had laid down on the stone as he remembered it all, the pack's betrayal, the shame even the look in Leandros eyes.He had run

They both turned to find Lydia the Lunaris pack healer, staring at the both of them. She walked up to them as she said,“Thank the Gods for finally sending you back home.” Isabella and Tristan were hit with the biggest shock of their lives as each of them was wondering why she was happy that Isabella had returned.“Lydia,” Isabella said. “I never thought I was going to see you again.” “I have missed home and everything about it” she said as she gave Lydia a hug. “What have you been doing with yourself?” Lydia asked “Fighting and running from enemies” Isabella replied smiling. “What has been happening here?” Isabella asked.“A lot” Lydia replied with a sadness in her voice that didn't go unnoticed by Isabella. “I can see your baby is growing really fast. How far gone are you now?”Isabella looked at her and said “I don't even know, been too busy running from enemies that I haven't even bothered to find out”“Oh Isabella” Lydia exclaimed smiling, “You are still so much the war

Alpha Leclair was shocked to hear her voice. She was the last person he expected to see even though he had prayed on this sick bed everyday that she would come home before he went to join his ancestors. He immediately struggled to get up with Lydia's help and he realized it was actually Isabella and that he wasn't dreaming. He smiled as Isabella walked up to him in three long steps to get to his side. Lydia was smiling seeing father and daughter reunite. Isabella hugged her father. She had missed him so much and just then all the emotions she had been holding inside of her melted and she began to cry. The tears ran down her face but she didn't mind as she was happy to see him again after everything. Her father was just okay holding her in his embrace. “Oh father, I'm sorry I disappointed you” Isabella cried. “I didn't mean for it to have happened that way.”“No my child, I should be sorry. I was too hard on you and I shouldn't have been.” Isabella's father said. “I looked everywher

Lydia and Isabella got to her place to find Tristan very restless. They both wanted to laugh but held themselves from laughing.“I can see the both of you trying so hard to hold your laughter, you can't blame me I was worried,” He said and the ladies couldn't hold it anymore and began to laugh at him.“You should have seen the look on your face,” Isabella said. Tristan crossed his arms watching them as they both laughed to their satisfaction. “When you are done with the laughing you can tell me how it went.” He said with a smile on his face as he finally relaxed.“Everything went well, only I fear that my father may not survive this illness” she said with a sadness to her voice. “He wants to meet with you” Isabella said Tristan was shocked. “Meet me?” He asked. “I was surprised too,” Isabella answered. “He also spoke about calling a meeting and announcing me as the new leader of the pack.” “That's good then, you don't need to run from the enemies anymore as you will have the

When Isabella had left her father's presence after the meeting with the elders, she went to meet Tristan to tell him how everything had gone. Tristan was happy for her but there was a look in his eyes that Isabella saw before Tristan had quickly hidden it.That look… Isabella understood it. Now that she had been given the responsibility to lead her people, it made his mind go back to his own pack and the thought of how he had left his pack in the hands of a traitor because he felt that his people had betrayed him.“Tristan, Isabella said, “I know you are thinking about your pack and how this, my being an Alpha changes everything.”“No Isabella,” he said. "There's something I didn't tell you, there's a curse that runs in my bloodline, it's the curse of madness from too much power. I saw it take my grandfather as he allowed the power to control and consume him and that's why I ran”Isabella was just hearing this secret for the first time and she didn't know how to take it, but she coul

  • THE PURE ALPHA    Leandro's Secrets

Ever since Tristan had run away from the pack, things had not been the same anymore. Leandro sat in a corner as he was having his breakfast, he had thought that by staying back he would be able to make a difference but it didn't go as he thought. Victor's men were everywhere, moving and ordering members like they owned them. He had just sat back and allowed Victor take the Alpha title, he didn't do or say anything about it. He remembered his words that night “I'll stay for the people.”“Did I really stay because of them?” He thought, or was it out of fear of the unknown or the fear of being branded a traitor. He felt he had betrayed his alpha by choosing to stay back. The look in Tristan's eyes when he was leaving that day has haunted him everyday since he left.“You aren't eating your food.” He looked up and saw her, Maya. She was a single mother, who lost her husband in one of the wars and children to feed but she had the heart of a warrior. • THE PURE ALPHA    Convincing The Council

Seraphina could see the doubts on all their faces, she could hear the murmurs of their disapproval as she stood at the front of the room, her heart was racing terribly and as prepared as she had been for this moment, the look on their faces made her begin to doubt herself again. The Pure Alpha, the one who the prophecy said was going to either save them or destroy everything had to be guided by someone and that person was her. He needs to learn how to control the power that flows through him as he's just a child. She’d spent years running from the prophecy, running from the fact that she had been chosen to carry the weight of it. And now the time to act and step into the role that fate has placed on her had come and there was no more running from it.“Seraphina.” someone called herShe turned and saw it was one of the oldest council members that had called her, and he had a sneering look on his face.“Are you telling us now that the Pure Alpha child, someone who has been said to bring

“Seraphina,” Tristan’s voice cut through the quiet. “Is there anything else?”“I have said it all.”His eyes were dark, and searching as he looked at her.“How can you carry both of those bloodlines? The Hollow Born, the Moonbloods, they’re too much. They don’t belong in one person.”Seraphina sighed. “I wasn’t given a choice, Tristan, this is what I am.”Leandro walked over to them then, his face grim. “The question isn’t how she carries both bloodlines. The real question is how she’ll be able to control the power inside her.”Seraphina observed all of them, and knew they were all battling with her revelation between them, feeling the weight of their gazes. Tristan’s voice was low, almost threatening. “But she has to decide, or it will decide for her.” Tristan said, his voice calm but hard. She nodded. “I know.”Later that night, Seraphina was on her own, thinking about everything. Ever since the conversation earlier in the day, she had been on her own, avoiding any contacts with

From the hearth a gentle crackling fire cast its warmth across the room. At this moment the stone walls showed shifting darkness as a mix of pine scent and wet night air filled the room. Seraphina occupied the space by the fire while her expression remained distant because she was worried by the council's decisions. From his position near the window Leandro stood rigidly. He hadn’t spoken much since their return from the northern woods, and Seraphina knew why. The forest had changed them all. What Leandro had witnessed in the woods, the power surge and how it had affected her had changed everything. The thought that she could have died. “Leandro, please try to understand,”Seraphina said with a soft voice as she stood near the stone table. Her hands laid gently on the cold stone table as she stood there while her fingers tapping absently on the table.Leandro turned from the window, his eyes locked onto hers. “Understand what, Seraphina? You’ve already told me enough. That tree… th

  • THE PURE ALPHA    Seraphina Finally Opens Up

Seraphina stood alone, under the evening moonlight. She was standing by the old stone altar. She knew what it stood for. It was a reminder of the ancient ways. A way long forgotten by all, but she knew.Leandro found her there, just as he always did. He finds that he always had this raw need to always search her out and spend time talking with her. Seraphina could always sense him whenever he's there and his presence gives her comfort. She finds that she enjoys his presence.“Why do I get the feeling that you weren't at the council meeting on purpose?” he asked.“You think you know me so well now huh? Anyways, you are correct. There was nothing left for me to say.”Leandro moved closer to her. He had always admired her strength and courage. The way she carried the burden of her role in the prophecy and he had come to respect her more ever since she had opened up to him about it.“You don't fear me?” She asked in a small voice. He could sense her hesitation.“Do you want me to?” He ask

  • THE PURE ALPHA    Old Powers Recognize the Pure Alpha

Tristan stood battle ready. Their days of peace, suddenly over. Below him, warriors were scrambling into formation, young wolves moving towards the center ring, elders were awake and putting on their weapons ready for battle. The alarm had reached every pack. The ancient gate wasn’t just breached. It was open.Isabella burst into the room, holding Lyon, she was still in her night robe and her hair was tangled from sleep. “He's glowing again,” she said to Tristan “But this one is different from the previous one, it's like he's calling out to something.”“He's humming,” Tristan noted as they both looked at the boy.Lyon was humming, and suddenly the atmosphere changed, sounds could be heard from nature itself as the trees began to shake and the earth they were standing on started to vibrate. It was as if bones buried were waking up.“Is he waking something up?” Isabella said to Tristan with a confused look “No he isn't,” Seraphina said as she stood by the door. Mud and rain on her bo

The shaking was a very scary one. It sounded like a beast that was in serious pains. There was dust everywhere inside the chambers and the council members were all coughing, each one covering their mouths and nose to reduce the effect of the dust. The trees outside were bending as if they were bowing down to a powerful presence. And suddenly everything stopped. And a deafening silence was felt everywhere. Gradually everyone began to gather themselves, though they were all still in shock. The shadows had disappeared and not one was left after that violent tremble of the earth.Isabella was in shock as she held on to Lyon, he had been shaking the whole time in her arms, as his body glowed with great power that was coming from within him, and suddenly he became still. His body no longer glowed, just a little too warm as she touched him.Her heart beat increased as she looked at him, the heat coming from his body was too much, obviously from the power that had radiated through him. The days of peace were growing thinner. The lands were quiet, but not calm. Birds changed their flight paths. Wolves reported strange echoes in the woods, conversations heard with no one seen speaking, trees bringing sap that shined for absolutely no reason. And every night, Lyon cried in his sleep, his eyes faintly glowing even while he was asleep.Tristan was standing on the edge of the western cliffs, he put his hands and the tip of his sword always in a battle ready mode. He was watching the forest, but it was all so quiet now but he was not deceived by that stillness. He knew anything can happen anytime and he told himself he should be prepared.Isabella walked towards him, he felt her presence even before she spoke. “Another report came in,” she said. “Three scouts didn’t return, and there was no trace or scent.”Tristan spoke, but you could hear the tension in his voice. “That’s the fourth group this week.”“They’re pushing closer.”“They’re waiting for us to break.”Isabel

  • THE PURE ALPHA    The Prophecy is Being Fulfilled

The cloud was heavy and a storm was brewing. The sky lit up with a flash of lightning, the noise could be heard everywhere. The packs were on the battlefield and were not disturbed by the storm. They stood ready. All of them standing in rows accordingly. Rows of wolves, blades, archers, and elders lined the valley’s edge, all gathered in their battle formations. Their breath mixed into the cold air, but not a single person trembled. They had long passed the point of fear. They knew what was coming. And they had all made the choice to stand. Tristan stood in front of them, his eyes sharp as a blade as he focused intently at the treelines. Isabella held Lyon close, wrapped tight in ceremonial cloth. The pendant from the Moon Goddess rested gently against the child’s chest, a symbol of protection, of fate. Lyon was quiet as he stood watching them. Almost as if he was waiting. And then without notice they charged forward from the edge of the forest. The enemy didn’t charge in as wolves o

Tristan stood at the edge of the training grounds, a place that should’ve felt familiar, peaceful. But it didn't today. His whole body was screaming for him to be alert. His instincts were warning him about something that was coming. Two days ago, the wind had changed direction. Since then, the air felt different, a bit colder and It didn’t feel right. Tristan first noticed it when three ravens began to circle above the training grounds. They just hung there, like they were waiting. Watching, no caws, no flapping of wings, just stillness. He wasn’t alone. Isabella was talking to Rhyke nearby, going over the details of their latest supply run to the mountain border. Lyon, his son, was standing right beside him. He held onto his father's dress, but Tristan couldn't focus on anything else. The birds. They aren't leaving.“They’re scouts,” came Leandro’s quiet voice from behind him. Tristan didn’t look back. He didn’t need to.“Birds?” Tristan asked, his voice skeptical.Leandro shook hi
