Sera’s POV

The silence in the grand hall of the Pack House was thick enough to choke me. Hundreds of eyes pinned me in place, but the only gaze that mattered belonged to the man standing on the elevated stage under the glowing light of the full moon.

Alpha Lupus Kai.

He stood tall, his powerful frame radiating absolute dominance. His expression was cold as stone, his piercing blue eyes fixed somewhere beyond me, as if I was not even there. Weeks ago, those same eyes looked at me with warmth. Now, he looked like a stranger wearing the face of the man I used to love.

"Lupus," I whispered, though my voice was drowned out by the tense murmurs of the pack.

For weeks after he marked me, he had been growing distant. I thought it was just the stress of running the pack. I never imagined it would lead to this. To my ultimate humiliation in front of everyone I knew.

My eyes flickered to the front row of the crowd, landing on my parents. My mother's lips trembled. My father's eyes practically begged me to stay silent, to walk away quietly. Their silent plea was screaming at me. Don't do this. Don't make a scene.

But I had already made up my mind. I would not hide.

Lupus stepped forward, his voice booming through the room. Sharp. Commanding. Enough to make the entire crowd freeze.

"Do not look at me like that, Sera. You knew what this was."

"What do you mean, what this was?" I forced my voice to carry across the quiet hall, refusing to let my hands shake. "You marked me. You claimed me in front of the pack. You told me I was yours."

"That was before," he said simply, his voice echoing off the walls without a shred of remorse. "Things have changed."

"Changed how?" The hurt in my chest turned into a raging fire. "Is it because of Angela?"

His jaw tightened. His eyes flashed sharp as ice. "Do not start this here."

"No, you will listen to me this time." I took a step closer to the stage, clenching my fists. "You cannot just shut me out. You cannot pretend I do not exist. I am your mate, Lupus. Or does the Moon Goddess's bond mean nothing to you now?"

A small, humorless chuckle escaped his lips. "Mate?" he repeated mockingly. "Sera, you are an omega. You were never supposed to be Luna. I only took you because my parents thought it would calm the tension between our families. Do not mistake duty for love."

Gasps rippled through the pack like a wave. The word omega felt like a physical slap. My heart ached so badly it was hard to breathe, but I refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing me break.

"You are cruel, Lupus." I glared up at him. "You have changed. You used to be kind. Now you are just power hungry and heartless."

"Enough, Sera. I do not need your lectures." His alpha aura flared, filling the room with suffocating dominance. "I am Alpha. I do not owe you explanations. Angela is the right choice for the pack. She is strong, well bred, and knows what being Luna means. She will not question my authority every second like you do."

He did not even deny it. He was choosing her. In front of everyone.

"And what about love, Lupus?" I whispered, my voice trembling. "Does that mean nothing to you?"

He looked down at me from the stage, his expression completely heartless. "Love does not build empires."

That was the moment something inside me shattered completely. The bond thrashed in agony inside my chest. But as the pain ripped through me, it began to harden into something entirely new. Something fierce.

Lupus took a deep breath, locking his piercing gaze onto mine before the entire pack.

"I, Alpha Lupus Kai, reject you, Sera Ashford, as my mate and Luna," he declared firmly.

The words sliced through the air like a blade. For a moment, the entire world went silent. My wolf howled in pure torment inside my mind, but I forced the tears back. I lifted my chin, looked him dead in the eyes, and met his fierce stare.

"I, Sera Ashford, accept your rejection, Alpha Lupus."

More gasps erupted from the crowd. Shame and fury burned inside me, but I kept my posture perfect. The moment the words left my mouth, the bond snapped completely. Lupus's expression flickered for just a fraction of a second. Something like a flash of regret passed through his eyes, but it vanished before anyone else could see it.

"Good," he said flatly. "Now get out. Angela and I will be announced as Alpha and Luna at the next full moon. Do not embarrass yourself by showing up."

A bitter, sarcastic laugh escaped my lips. "Do not worry, Alpha." My voice echoed clearly for everyone to hear. "I would not dream of it. I will not stay where I am not wanted."

I turned on my heel and began the long walk down the center aisle of the grand hall. I left behind the pack, the title, and the man who thought he could define my worth. My parents watched me with tear filled eyes, but I did not stop. I pushed open the heavy outer doors and stepped into the cool night air.

My legs shook. My vision blurred as the tears finally escaped. But I kept moving, disappearing into the darkness of the forest. Behind me, the pack house faded away, and with every step I took into the woods, the crippling pain turned into a burning vow.

He may have rejected me tonight, but he also freed me.

I lifted my face to the high moon, wiping the tears away for the last time.

"I will rise again," I whispered into the wind. "You will see, Lupus. You will pay for this. I give you my word."

  • THE REJECTED LUNA’S RISE    What She Gave Away

Sera’s POV The door opened without warning. Two guards stepped in, different ones from before, moving fast without wasting a word. One unlocked the chain from the ceiling while the other grabbed my arm hard enough to bruise. “Move,” he said. “What happened out there?” I dug my heels into the floor anyway, even though my legs were barely holding me. “Tell me.” Neither of them answered. They just dragged me forward, out into the corridor, their boots crunching over something I didn’t look down to see. We passed the third door, the one I’d been dragged past before. It was open this time. I twisted hard against the guards’ grip, hard enough that one of them cursed and nearly lost his foot. Through the gap, torchlight spilled across the floor of the cell and over the shape lying still in the middle of it. White hair, matted with blood at the temple. Chains still locked around wrists that would never pull against them again. “No.” The word came out flat and small, nothing like a

  • THE REJECTED LUNA’S RISE    The Space Between Chains

Sera’s POV Mason’s blood was still wet on the floor when I let myself breathe again. I sat with my back against the wall, wrists raw inside the cuffs. No footsteps. No alarm. Whatever he did to the guards outside, he did it quietly. That wouldn’t last long. I flexed my fingers. Still nothing. No smoke. No heat. Just dead weight pressing against something under my skin that wanted to fight back and couldn’t. Think. Not feel. Think. The room was small. Just the chain bolted to the wall and dried blood by the door. I looked at the hinges. Old wood. Older than the newer stone further down the hall, the part they must have built just to hold someone like me. Old door. Maybe an old lock too. I dragged myself closer, chain rattling, and looked closely at the lock. Rust covered one side. Maybe that was a weak spot. If only I had something to use. I had nothing. What would Yara do, I thought, and it surprised me how fast that question came, like her voice already lives in m

  • THE REJECTED LUNA’S RISE    The Coward's Run

Daniel’s POV I should have seen it coming. Mason's map had been too convenient from the start. It was too neatly folded, too precisely marked. But I had lied to myself. I told myself it didn't matter, that any lead was better than wandering blind through the mountains looking for Marcus with nothing but old rumors to guide us. I wanted to believe Mason because believing him was easier than admitting we had absolutely no other choice. That belief cost us everything. We had barely crossed into the outpost’s outer perimeter when something felt wrong. The scent hit me first. Too many wolves. Too quiet. "Sera," I whispered, my voice dropping low and urgent. "Something isn't right." She had already slowed down, her eyes narrowing as she scanned the thick tree line. "I feel it too." We should have turned back. I know that now. We should have ran the moment the forest fell silent. Instead, we kept moving. Carefully. Slowly. Because turning back meant admitting Mason had played

  • THE REJECTED LUNA’S RISE    The Taste of Fire

Mason's POV The outpost reeked of old stone and older magic, the kind that settled at the back of the throat and refused to leave, no matter how often you swallowed. But I hadn’t waited for an invitation. The Council Leader believed I was handling business in Shadow territory before returning to collect my half of our bargain. Let the old bastard believe it. A man who announces his every move deserves to be robbed blind by the ones patient enough to watch him from the dark. Long before the guards brought her in, I’d claimed a narrow alcove carved into the wall above the circular chamber. From there, I overlooked the black relic pulsing in the center of the room like the heart of something long dead. I’d hidden here once before, memorizing patrol routes during my last visit. Tonight, I had another reason to watch. They dragged her in at last. Her wrists were still bound, her steps uneven as two guards dressed in ash-colored robes forced her forward. She looked exhau

  • THE REJECTED LUNA’S RISE    The Drained Room

Sera’s POV The first thing I felt was cold stone against my cheek. The second was the terrifying absence of my fire. I forced my eyes open. Gray stone walls stared back, lit only by a few flickering torches. When I tried to move, a heavy, metallic pressure clamped down on my wrists. I was bound to the wall, my arms pinned above my head. The metal hummed faintly against my skin, making my stomach turn. Silver, but not quite. It felt older. Stronger. Built to hold more than flesh. Lira? I called out in my mind, desperate for a bond-mate who wasn’t there. Silence answered me. Not a comforting, quiet silence, but a hollow, dead emptiness. I threw my weight forward, pulling hard against the bindings. I gasped as pain lanced up both arms. Whatever these chains were made of, they weren’t just restraining my body. They were pressing against something deeper, something that lived under my skin. "Do not waste your strength," a rasped voice echoed from the shadows. My he

  • THE REJECTED LUNA’S RISE    What the Blood Remembers

Lupus's POV The water tasted wrong. I noticed the difference before I fully understood why. There was a faint bitterness underneath the sweetness, subtle enough that a distracted man would have missed it completely. But I was not distracted anymore. I set the glass back down on the table without taking a sip. Angela did not notice. She was already facing the mirror, adjusting an earring and humming a low, satisfied tune. I watched her reflection in the glass, keeping my own expression completely blank. She has been feeding it to you for weeks, Kain whispered. Every single night. A little more each time. "I know," I murmured under my breath. You do not know. You are only just beginning to realize. He was right. Whenever I tried to reach for my instincts, I could feel a heavy fog. A thick, sluggish weight clung to the edge of every thought, a darkness that had not been there before Sera. Before I threw away the only good thing in my life. The memory of the night Sera w
