The alluring lacy material flowed tenderly across the marbled floor, the dress had been specially sewn for her from another country, though it had only been a short time, it seems her mother knew how to use their wealth to pull strings.

“Of course, my love. Today is the happiest day of your life, you shall get whatever you request for Mary” Mrs Sanders smiled, at her daughter’s reflection in the mirror, Commander Mike ought to consider himself the luckiest man in the whole world to have such a beautiful wife, she was a treasure.

She rested back in the chair as the maid removed the overall on her, the other maids came round about her, gathering her arms from both side, they helped her up, and she stood to behold her magnificent beauty in the mirror

 Her doe eyes were beautifully painted, her eyebrow was glittering, and she liked the innocent cuteness look, it was becoming of her. Now no man, not even Commander Mike could resist her

“Come to the house later for some clothes and you and some other girls shall accompany my daughter to her new house, you are to do all the chores for her and also report any happenings to me, Your salary shall be doubled for that as long as my daughter must be cared for okay?” Mrs Sanders said

Smiling at Mary who indicated that she should be fanned more, Mrs Sanders smiled as more maids joined in fanning Mary, the dress must be tight for her, but she shall wear it, the dress is becoming of her

She also noticed the jealous stares of the other maids at Polly but she could not care less, she had her reason for choosing Polly and the others that she had carefully selected

Head bubbling up and down like a tortoise, Polly smiled happily” yes ma’am, “

“You may leave”

Polly was about to leave when she gathered her scattered wits and declared the message she had been sent

“Ma’am, the vicar requires her presence in the hall, the wedding is to begin,” she said and slipped away to inform her parents of the good fortune bestowed on them, an increase in salary at the Sanders would ensure them a good life.

Mrs Sanders sneered as she watched the girl slip away” Let us go dear, your big time has arrived”

“Is Commander Mike already in the hall?” Mary asked anxiously, pinching her gloved hands together

 when Polly left, Mary turned on her mother “Mother, why did you pick that rather poorly imaged girl to be my maid, she is of no standing beside me? why did you not pick any of the ones who had served me, some of them are pretty” she asked vainly

Mrs Sanders beamed at her daughter “You are going to your husband’s house Mary, I already looked up Evangeline, you are more gorgeous than she would ever dream to be, and I did not want anyone being a rival to you, you should be the only beautiful one there, the Stone family ought to be proud they have you in their midst Dear, I choose those maids because they were poor looking, no one is to be your competitor, you will hold your husband’s sole attention Honey” her mother soothed

Mary grinned at her mother” You are so smart mother, you thought it through” She liked the idea of being the one who commanded her husband’s love. She had no doubt she was in for the best moments in her life

before he had saved her, she loved him completely, especially his eyes she still dreamt of those blue eyes.

“Let us go Mary”

“Yes Mother” she answered enthusiastically ready to live her dream

Mrs Sanders glanced at the maids, who ran forward and helped Mary walk to the door and into the waiting golden carriage outside, which would take them to the hall. Her father had fought with the local vicar; hence he would not go near the church at all. He had called a different Vicar from a different town to wed them.

Gathering her dress delicately, they arranged the folds on the seat, the maids helped her take her seat beside her mother, and the maids entered the other normal carriages and off they went.

The Carriage stopped in front of the door, Mary could not be happier as she alighted from the carriage and into the hall, filled with several men and women, they all stood at the sight of her, the men were gulping several times, they were all adjusting their ties and their eyes were all fixated on her body as she walked down the aisle. The women were super jealous of her, no amount of makeup could ever make any of them look like her, she was the best Western Creek had to offer. And Commander Mike had to be proud to be getting married to her.

Her father joined her, and she was grateful for that, for the stares were blinding, she looked around, and there was a heavy military presence as well in the hall, she finally relaxed, which means he was there. The wedding was going to hold. he had to be there, but Mary’s heart fell as she saw no one waiting for at the end of the aisle.
