UNSPOKEN DESIRES

Ivy's POV

I sat beside Noah, running my fingers through his soft curls as he lay curled up in his bed.

His small chest rose and fell steadily, but I could tell by the way his eyelids fluttered that he wasn’t fully asleep.

He was trying, though. Trying to pretend like everything was fine. Like today hadn’t happened.

I swallowed past the lump in my throat. “You okay, baby?”

He nodded, his fingers twisting in the blanket. He looked so small and it took everything in me not to gather him on my arms again.

I can't believe something like that could happen to Noah, all because of…

I smoothed a hand over his forehead. “Are you sure?”

Another nod.

A pit formed in my stomach. I wanted to believe him, but I also knew my son. He had always been quiet, thoughtful. He kept things locked inside until they got too big to hold.

“Did they—” I hesitated, forcing myself to stay calm. “Did they hurt you?”

I had asked him this before and he replied that he was fine. But the

A MOMENT OF VULNERABILITY Ivy’s POV I shut Noah’s bedroom door gently and stood there for a long moment, listening to his soft breathing. His words from earlier still echoed in my head like a song stuck on repeat. Even though it's been hours. “He just wants to be here, Mom. With us. Isn’t that enough?” I wanted to believe it was. But belief didn’t erase the years of silence, the aching questions, or the broken promises that never came with explanations. It didn’t fix the way my heart still clenched when I saw Rowan’s face or how my guard rose the second his name slipped into conversation. Still, something was different now. And I hated that I could feel it. I slept with him after all. I padded back into the living room and sat on the edge of the couch, hugging one of Noah’s throw pillows to my chest. My phone was on the coffee table. I stared at it. Then grabbed it. It took three tries to dial Sarah’s number. My thumb hovered each time like my body was trying to stop me

ROWAN'S INVESTIGATION Rowan’s POV I didn’t sleep. Not even a second. I left Ivy’s apartment with Noah’s words echoing in my head, ringing louder than the city noise around me. “Prove it.” Three syllables that felt heavier than anything I’d carried in years. And from a little boy for that matter. My son. My only consolation after what went down yesterday, was the fact that my son wanted me. I didn’t blame Ivy for the way she looked at me. Hell, I didn’t even blame her for sending me away. But I wasn’t going to let her walk away without the truth. Not this time. I'm not going to lose her again. I sat in my car outside my place until the sky started to fade into early gray. My knuckles were white on the steering wheel. I stared straight ahead, thinking about Bella, Ethan, and the trail of crap they left behind. I should’ve seen it sooner. I should’ve done something before it touched Ivy and Noah. My phone buzzed. Daniel. Of course he was already working. My assistant had the

NOAH TAKES A STAND Noah’s POV I was supposed to be asleep. Mom said so, and she tucked me in with her usual kiss on the forehead and soft whisper, “Sweet dreams, baby.” But I wasn’t dreaming. I was wide awake, staring at the ceiling while the shadows on my walls danced from the streetlights outside. Something in her voice felt… sad. Tight, like the way she talks when she’s really worried but tries to pretend she’s not. So I got up. I slid out of bed slowly, my feet making no sound on the carpet, and tiptoed to the door. It was cracked open just a little. I heard voices. Mom and Rowan. At first, it was quiet murmuring, like they were trying not to wake me up. Then it got louder. Sharper. Angry. “Ivy, I’ve already told you what I know.” “Not enough,” she snapped, cutting the distance between them. “You told me you met Bella once. But now the investigation is showing money trails and shared shell companies. You expect me to believe you didn’t know anything?” Rowan exhaled, j

UNVEILING THE TRUTH Ivy's POV The moment the door to my apartment clicked shut behind us, I dropped my keys on the counter and headed straight for Noah's room. “I need a moment with my son.” After I was sure Noah was fast asleep, I came back to the living room to face him. “Talk,” I said. My voice was steady, but the storm behind it was barely contained. “Right now, Rowan. I want the truth.” He stepped out of his shoes and rubbed the back of his neck, as if that would somehow give him the right words. “Ivy, I’ve already told you what I know.” “Not enough,” I snapped, cutting the distance between us. “You told me you met Bella once. But now the investigation is showing money trails and shared shell companies. You expect me to believe you didn’t know anything?” Rowan exhaled, jaw clenched tight. “I didn’t. I swear to you, Ivy, I didn’t know Bella was behind any of this. I would never—” “Don’t,” I said, lifting a hand between us. “Don’t start with the I’d never hurt you line. B

A SHOCKING REVELATION Ivy's POV The note burned in my palm long after Rowan read it. Don't trust the wrong people. Watch your back. I barely slept again. I kept playing it over in my mind—who wrote it, who knew where I lived, who was watching me close enough to slide that under my door. Rowan stayed up too, silent, tense, always glancing toward the windows like he expected someone to come crashing through. By mid-morning, I was raw. Tired. On edge. And still had to show up at the office like my world wasn’t spinning out of control. The second I stepped into the building with Rowan by my side, I knew something was off. I had already told him to go but has been adamant even after he went home for a change of clothes. The lobby was too quiet. No hum of chatter. No front desk greeting. Just an eerie stillness. I glanced around. “Where’s Clara?” Rowan stepped beside me, scanning the space. “You always have someone at the front desk, right?” “Always.” We moved in deeper. The

MY BROTHER'S RETURN Elara's POV I didn’t sleep through the night as I was very much busy in the arms of a man I had sworn off. But now, he was trying to worm his way back into my life. However, I had to check on my son and give myself a moment to think of my current life choices. I sat on the edge of my bed with my arms wrapped around my knees, staring at my son. Noah slept peacefully, unaware that his world was about to be rocked hard by something I couldn’t name. Rowan sat in the living room. Even though I told him to leave he refused but he didn’t push based on what he told me. He didn’t come into the room. He knew I needed space. And I hated that I appreciated that. My mind drifted back to the words I gifted him: “I’m willing to try this with you once more.” Had I really meant that? I closed my eyes. A ring on the bell made me jolt. I checked the time—7:14 a.m. Then came a knock. I got up, heart already racing again as rushed downstairs after making sure Noah wasn'
