63. THE DRINK OF LIFE

I was not going to wait any minute longer in that ash field with the wind howling as the weather changed little by little. The sky turned gray just as fast, the wind picking up and having the ash assault our senses. I was not going to let Dante continue standing there, staring at the last piece of his previous life.

It was time to heal and let go. They never deserved him and I was going to treasure him like they never did. My hand ran to his which still had blood drip from it. I clenched his fist, letting him know that I was there, that I would always be there.

“ Let’s go home my love.” I whispered out.

Ten minutes had passed with his uncle dead, his body dry and gray with his heart not anyway different. I was satisfied he was dead, never to come back and haunt us, not even from hell where he was going. My lips lay on the king’s exposed arm. Too much had happened and I just wanted to hold him for the rest of the night while whispering that we would be okay over and over again.
