Chapter 101

A photo of Stefan… sitting at a bar. A woman sat beside him.... too close. One hand on his shoulder as they lock lips.

The surrounding was dimly lit. But unmistakably him. She could spot him with her eyes close.

The caption underneath chilled her.

“Can I borrow your husband tonight?”

Mia’s heart sank. The phone nearly slipped from her hand. Everything inside her screamed that this wasn’t what it looked like.... it couldn’t be. Stefan wasn't like that.

He had no reason to do something like that, but her mind reminded her he had all the reason to. Maybe he was so horny he just needed to nut, but he didn't want to ask or tell her.

She felt something shift with in her at that moment, all she could feel was the sting of something sharp.

Few minutes later, Mia stood in the middle of the hotel suite, the message still glowing on her phone screen.

Her hands were cold. She didn’t want to go. She didn’t want to believe it. She wanted nothing but to trust Stefan. But something insid

Chapter 110The applause that followed their reveal still echoed softly as Stefan took the mic, standing center stage beside Mia. The lights bathed them in gold, casting a soft glow over the two figures who had just changed the entire direction of the construction world.Mia looked at Stefan, expecting him to launch into numbers, plans, visions for the future.... maybe something about MSS and how it would shake the foundations of traditional building. But he didn’t.He turned to the audience, holding the mic steady. His voice was calm, deep, firm. The kind that made people stop mid-whisper just to hear him speak.“I know everyone’s waiting to hear how we made this happen,” Stefan began, “but the truth is… I didn’t. At least not alone.”He looked down at Mia with a soft smile.“This woman right here,” he said, gesturing to her, “is the mind, the heart, and the force behind MSS.”A soft murmur rippled through the crowd.“She’s the kind of partner people pray for. Not just in business… b

Chapter 109The announcer’s expression slowly shifted from surprise to something more controlled.... rehearsed calm with just a touch of suspense. He held the opened envelope delicately, then looked up with a slight smirk.“I have been instructed to invite all of you to do something a little... unconventional.”A low hum of curiosity moved across the room like a ripple on still water.“Ladies and gentlemen, you’ll see a small code in front of you on the screen. Go ahead.... scan it with your phones. Trust me, you’re going to want to see this.”At first they were all skeptical, but immediately Mia and Stefan reached for their phones.... Samuel immediately scanned his. He was the biggest in this room, others follows his steps, not the other way round. Jeremiah brought out his phones too and scanned the code.Mia let out a hidden smile. She knew her dad too well, knew he would immediately scan the code if he sees her bringing out her phone first. So it doesn't look like he brought it b

  • THE SPITEFUL BRIDE: Marry To Rival's Son    108 THE FUTURE OF THE CONSTRUCTION WORLD

Chapter 108Mia stood in front of the mirror, as they adjusted the last part of her dress. For a second, she didn’t recognize the reflection staring back at her.The gown was everything. Luxurious. Bold. Feminine. It was a deep emerald green, made from soft velvet that clung perfectly to her body without trying too hard. The strapless neckline curved into a sweetheart shape, showing off her collarbones and shoulders in the most flattering way. The dress hugged her figure down to her knees before flaring out into a dramatic fishtail that trailed softly behind her.The details were even more stunning up close.... delicate hand embroidery ran along the fabric like vines, and the design was studded with tiny beads and shimmering stones that caught the light whenever she moved.Attached to the back was a removable train made of light tulle and silk. It flowed like a cape and added that extra drama for when she needed to make an entrance.... or give a speech. She could clip it on or off as

  • THE SPITEFUL BRIDE: Marry To Rival's Son    107 A REVENGE THAT WAS ALMOST READY.

Chapter 107If there was one thing Mia had learned early in business, it was this: sometimes, silence speaks louder than any press conference. And that was exactly the card she and Stefan were playing. From the moment they returned to Manhattan, it began. The cold shoulders, the missed eye contact, the subtle but obvious distance. They turned the penthouse into a cold battlefield, making sure even the walls had something to whisper about. Stefan would enter a room, and Mia would leave. Mia would eat in the dining room, and Stefan would take his meal in the office. Conversations were sparse, professional at best, and laced with unspoken tension. The perfect show for their audience. Though, staying away from each other was the last thing both of them wanted.... but they knew they had to sacrifice to gain something. And the audience? Well, they were watching.Whispers among the staff turned into full-blown gossip. The housekeepers began exchanging glances. The assistant chef who once p

Chapter 106Stefan didn’t let go of her immediately, when he finally eased back, his hand stayed on her waist. His eyes were on her.... soft but intense. Then, without a word, he leaned in and pressed a kiss to her forehead. Gentle. Reassuring. Like a promise. A promise to always protect from people like her dad who only sees her as a tool.Mia closed her eyes. Letting the sensation of the kiss evolve her. Then Stefan looked down at her... at the small, faint scars now exposed where her shirt had ridden up slightly. His fingers brushed over them gently, then without saying a word, he leaned down and kissed one.Mia breath hitched. She never expected Stefan to kiss her scar. A scar she's always been ashamed of. She as always seen it as what it was. A scar. She didn’t move, just stared at him with astonishment. His lips touched her damaged skin like it was made of something precious. When he looked back up, her eyes were wide, staring at him. He then raised his head and placed a quick k

Chapter 105“I did it,” she repeated, a little louder this time. “I hurt myself.”"Why? Why..... Would you hurt yourself this way?" Shock was written clearly all over his face."Because at that time, it was the only option I had. So I thought." Stefan stared at her speechless, waiting for her to continue.Mia sighed before sitting up slowly, wrapping the sheets around her chest as if they could protect her from what she was about to relive. Stefan sat beside her, his back straight, his eyes never leaving her face. He could see something was coming, something deep. Something painful. And he was ready to let her share all of it with her."After my mom died," Mia began quietly, her voice a near whisper. "Everything changed so fast. One minute I was her little girl, and the next... she was gone. My dad sent me abroad right after her funeral. Said I needed time, and that he wanted me to stay out of everything. Like I was a reminder he didn’t want around."Stefan didn’t say anything. He did
