Masuk"Go Inside!" One of the men ordered while stopping in front of the massive door.
Caleb looked at the door with serious eyes and finally inhaled a deep breath before nodding.
The man opened the door for him and he went inside.
As soon as Caleb enters. His eyes went to all black suit men around. While he looked up straight, finally focused on the man who was sitting on the luxurious leather chair in an emperor's manner showing a powerful aura around him. He is young which made him a little stunned. He was in an expensive branded suit. While everything around him showed his uncountable wealth and power.
When Caleb's eyes roamed from his clothes to his face, he instantly felt a coolness around his back. As the man's gaze was too strong and dominating while his smile looked threatening. He is good-looking but with a mysterious smile on his face.
Caleb never felt something like this before but he tried to stay calm and composed.
He doesn't know why but the man's sharp gaze made him feel scared and chill to the backbone.
The more he was scared, the more he felt the other side was extremely powerful to make mistakes.
He can't make a wrong move or else he won't see his future. They are not going to let him leave!
After thinking deeply, he moved towards him and stopped a few meters far away. Before He tried to start a conversation with a small smile.
"He...Hello! Mr…" Suddenly, he remembered he didn't know the other party's name and felt awkward.
"Byron Gilbert!" Suddenly the man in a grey suit came from the door behind him.
Caleb looked at the man with curiosity. As his clothes are different from other men's. He is also young and good-looking, carrying the same attitude as a chairman. He guessed he should be his family member or right-hand person.
Caleb finally nodded to him and then looked at Byron who was still staring at him with a strong gaze.
"Hello, Mr.Gilbert!" Caleb greeted him.
While the grey suit man went to Byron's side and stood behind his chair on the right side.
Caleb now understood he is also one of the men who worked for Byron.
"So, you are Caleb Beckett, who took one million debts and is still too far to pay it?" Byron's voice was cold, husky, and deep while his tone seemed heartless. He gazed at him with a straight face.
Hearing his words, Caleb flinched in his place while he gulped his saliva with anxiety.
"S...Sir, please give me more time! I'll pay you all the money!" His voice shook completely while his eyes looked at Byron with nervousness.
However, Byron chuckled loudly to hear him which made Caleb sweat on his forehead.
"Give you time?"
"Could you tell me how you will earn one million in a short time?" His words are filled with mocking.
While Caleb stuck to hear him.
Byron saw his reaction and added," Mr. Caleb, why don't you just accept you can't pay your debt? Even if you turned old and died in front of me!" He smirked coldly.
"Sir, Give me a chance! One more chance!" Caleb pleaded.
"Chance?" Byron laughed which is not a real laugh.
"In our business, there is no other chance! All we collect is money or the dead body!" Byron's eyes turned sharp and dark. There is an evil smirk on his face.
Caleb's heart tightened while his whole body started sweating with fear. He immediately runs towards you while two men in black suits come in front to push him but Byron stops them and lets Caleb come.
Caleb suddenly reaches Byron's legs and knees beside him touching his leg with both hands.
"Sir, don't kill me!! I'll do anything to pay your debt! I also came here to accept your offer!" He blurted out in fear.
Byron smirked.
"Are you sure? You can do anything and be ready to accept my offer against terms and conditions?"
"Yes!" He hurriedly responds.
"You will know the offer. But first, the condition is you need to trade something precious in exchange for money!"
"Precious?" Caleb didn't understand.
"Yes! Just think about it! It can be anything like land, jewellery or..."
"Or?" Caleb asked.
Byron smirked playfully.
"Person!" He completed his word while his eyes turned powerful.
"Until it's value and precious! I'll think about it!
Caleb felt too nervous as he couldn't think about anything to call precious. There is nothing precious. His home is already Byron's. Now, what more he can have to give?
"I don't have anything!" He declared with fear.
"Then be ready to die! There is no offer from me!" As Byron announced, his one-man came fastly to punch Janson's face.
Caleb's eyes were closed with terrified while his body shivered.
However, before the man's fist could land on Caleb's face, his phone rang.
Byron raised his hand to stop his man.
Caleb also opens his eyes as he feels he didn't punch.
He looked at the man and Byron.
"Take out your phone!" Byron ordered and Caleb did that.
Byron forwarded his hand to signal him to give the phone to his hand.
Caleb gave the phone with a shaking hand.
Byron looked at the cell phone's screen where the young beautiful girl's smiling photos showed and just down there her name was mentioned.
"Abi…" He read out the name like he was checking how the name sounded on his lips. While a devil smirk suddenly takes his mouth.
He gave the phone back to Caleb.
Caleb immediately takes it.
"Pick up the call and turn on the loudspeaker!" He instructed.
Caleb did it.
As soon as he pressed the answer button. Abigail's worried voice comes from the other side.
"Hello, Caleb! Where are you?"
"Are you alright?"
Caleb looked at Byron and he signaled to answer.
"Yes, Abi! I'm fine! I...I just came to meet my school friend." Caleb replied with a hesitant voice as he was too anxious.
"Ohhh alright! Actually, I went to your room to send you milk but didn't find you. So, I felt worried!"
"Alright! Let's talk after I reach home!"
"Yeah! Okay!"
Abigail disconnects the call.
Caleb sighed in relief.
Byron looked at the phone and then Caleb. His eyes turned deep and unusual like he was thinking something deeply or making his new strategy.
After a few moments of silence. Byron asked with a husky voice.
"Is she your childhood sweetheart Abigail Levine? The one whom your parents adopted?" Byron smirked evilly.
Caleb felt dumbfounded at this moment.
Knowing Byron already gets all the personal details about his family matters, made him more nervous. It means there is no chance to be freed from his claws at all.
"Are you not going to answer?" Byron coldly asked.
While Caleb hurriedly answered.
"Yes! She's my girlfriend!"
"Abigail Levine…"
"Great!" Byron coldly smirked. While his eyes filled with exquisiteness. As he found something more interesting to play.
Caleb could not help but felt confused as he could not understand why Byron was suddenly pleased.
But Byron's next statement made it clear his smiling reason.
"I want her!" He declared like a governor.
While Caleb's eyes widened and tongue caught in the middle.
He felt he heard wrong and asked Byron.
"Wh...What sir?"
Byron's eyes turned sharp.
"I never repeat my words for anyone!" His tone turned fierce.
Caleb felt panic and didn't know what to speak anymore.
Did he just say he wanted Abi? He thought in his mind.
Byron saw his reaction and playfully smirked.
"You are thinking right! I want Abigail Levine!"
Byron finally cleared his words while Caleb felt speechless.
Caleb never thought Byron would show interest in Abigail.
But he can't do that. So, he tried to talk in a slow tone as he couldn't make Byron angry.
"But…Sir, she's…"
"I will give you five million and forget about your debt. You can have your home also if you let her have me!"
Byron cut his words in the middle and gave him the undeniable offer which Caleb couldn't think of in his dream also.
Caleb's eyes were already enlarged with shock and he almost forgot what he was going to say to Byron. As his offer is too tempting.
On the other side, Byron was truly interested to know what Caleb would choose his girlfriend Abigail or money.
Caleb doesn't understand what Byron saw on Abigail to offer something this big. So, he finally interrogated him.
"What will you do if I send her to you?" Caleb raised his brows and interrogated.
Byron felt laughing as he thought Caleb would fight with him or at least showed anger. But on the other side, he asks what he will do? Does that matter when he already thought about giving up on his love for money?
But Byron still answers.
"I'll marry her. That's enough?"
Hearing his words the atmosphere felt too silent. Not only Caleb was stunned but all the men who were in the room felt dumbfounded at this moment except the grey suit man like he already knew it was coming. He is the only person in a calm position with Byron.
While all the men looked at each other while Caleb fell amazed. The more he was listening to Byron, the more he was getting shocked.
"If you are ready to give up on your girlfriend. I'll give you money!"
Byron crossed his fingers and looked at him with a serious gaze.
Caleb knew he was serious. But he still feels Byron is the suspicious man. Everything is mysterious around him.
"Will he do that to exchange his lover for money?"
Seeing Caleb's silence, Byron suddenly announced, "If you don't like my offer then you can just submit yourself to my men. While your parents could be ready to be homeless the next morning!"
Caleb's body shuddered as he instantly forgot about his love for Abigail and responded with a determined look.
"I agree with your deal! I'll break up with Abigail!"
Byron looked at him with dark stares.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes!" Caleb responded.
Byron smirked.
"That's great!"
"You made a good choice!" He added.
Caleb's hands clenched.
"Now be ready to send her to me! My man will come to take her in two days."
Caleb nodded. Byron looked at him with satisfaction.
"One more thing! In these two days! I hope you can already make her ready to submit to me!"
Caleb nodded as he thought this deal was not bad.
For Abigail, he will forget about her because his life is important and he is too young to die. And it's not like he is sending her to the old man. Byron is a rich, young, and good-looking man. As soon as Abigail submitted him. He will give her a great life. So, it's also a good life-changing experience for her. She will also forget about him with time. It's not like they are committed to each other. It's just a teenager's love.
"Now, you can leave!" Byron finally lets him leave while Caleb immediately turns to go back.
As he left, Byron smirked evilly and muttered in a cold tone.
"Abigail Levine! We will meet soon!"
"Boss! Are you thinking about it?" The grey suit man asked with seriousness.
"Yes! I'm damn serious! Now prepare everything for a wedding ceremony!"
"Alright! Boss!" The grey suit man nodded.
Abigail witnessed their silly, loving conversation and, for the first time, felt a little jealous not to have a love like theirs. Once they were on stage, people kept coming with gifts line by line, and suddenly, Abigail realised she only had a clutch in her hand. Her expression turned to one of loss as she realised she had forgotten her gift in the house."Oh God! How could I forget the gift? Now what?" She bit her lower lip nervously as she saw almost everyone end up on stage while she was empty-handed. "This is surely going to be embarrassing." She muttered with a deep sigh before something clicked in her mind, "Wait a second, I did not check the car. What if I forget that right there?" "I should have checked." She confidently thought and decided to walk out of the hall when someone noticed her leaving and grabbed her arm. "Hey, are you already leaving?" Abigail looked at the woman and instantly expressed, "No, I just forgot something outside." "Oh, Alright. Just come soon, th
Wedding Hall"Abigail! It's you!" Nataha hugged her immediately, "Girl, you turned gorgeous!" Abigail smiled happily before hugging her tightly and replied warmly, "But not more than a bride."Her words made Natasha and everyone around her chuckle. "Girl, I missed you." Natsaha broke the hug and looked over her. She smiled emotionally and nodded, "I missed you, too. Congratulations on your marriage." "Thank you, and I am glad you are here." "Thanks to you, I can attend this today." Abigail simply expressed."Alright, we should stop being emotional. I don't want to ruin my makeup." Natsha teased, making her chuckle, "That's true. So, where is your groom?" "He is right there." Natsha pointed over the group, "Let's go. I will introduce you to him, and don't be surprised when you see more schoolmates.""You mean our classmates?" She paused. "Yes, now, let's go. They were all excited as this wedding not only brought new connections but was almost like a reunion for old friends as wel
"Friend's wedding?" Byron crossed his arms as he curiously looked over Abigail, whose expression grew doubtful and uneasy even before she was rejected. "Yes, she is my schoolmate and invited me personally to attend her wedding." "I see." He simply gave a curt nod as he never thought the things made her wife happy, not another man, but another long lost friend, before asking, finally curiously, "So, what do you want from me?" He waited for her response, thinking she was nervous to ask him to attend the wedding with her. However, when she opened her mouth, his expression turned disgruntled."I want to attend it, if you don't mind." She finally expressed herself, leaving behind others' thoughts."Alone?" He questioned."Yes, but if you wish, I can take Maggy with me." She expressed her side as she nibbled her lip, thinking, What if he rejected her? Go alone. However, he surely doesn't want to hear that and asked again to confirm."Are you sure? Is that all you got to ask? And let Maggy
Gilbert Mansion"Welcome home, Master." "Welcome home, Madam."Maggy warmly smiled to see Abigail and Byron finally returning to the mansion. Byron simply nodded and entered while Abigail smiled warmly and stopped before her, "Mrs Maggy, how are you?" "I am doing fine. Thank you for asking." Maggy politely expressed, and she extended her hand in a gesture for her to get inside, "You come from a long journey. Please have some rest in your master bedroom first.""Thank you for your hard work." Abigail simply nodded and walked right beside Byron, who was walking before her. Once they entered the master bedroom, Byron changed his clothes and refreshed himself before returning to the office. Meanwhile, Abigail needed to check her email to see if she got any new mail from college. So, she simply walked over to the desk right beside the couch and put the laptop there. She sat on the sofa and opened the laptop to scroll through emails when her eyes landed on a familiar name, and her finger
"Sorry, Boss, the flight got cancelled tonight because of a thunderstorm and continued rain," Martin informed Byron over the phone. "Alright, until I get there, you keep an eye on sister's condition," Byron instructed, making him agree instantly before ending the call. He returned to the bedroom and found Abigail almost finished packing her things. He approached her and announced casually, "The flight got cancelled because of the weather. Stop doing that for now." She looked at him with slight surprise as she did not hear him enter before she ended up nodding, "Alright. I will put this bag in the corner." He hummed quietly and walked towards the bed without saying anything more, as he got an intense headache from the last night and less sleep after learning about his sister, so, as soon as he sat comfortably on the bed, crossing his legs and adjusting his back over the pillow. He fell asleep in that position without even realising. Abigail put the bag in the corner and changed in
Byron returned to the resort when he got a personal call and decided to take it before attending to Abigail."Hello, Byron, I am sorry for disturbing you late at night, but I need to tell you some bad news." The Doctor spoke in an upset tone from the other end of the phone, while Byron stood in the window, holding his cigar, which instantly flickered outside, right there, to hear that, and asked in a gloomy voice, "What happened, doctor?" "Mr Byron, your sister's health began deteriorating from last week, even though we are monitoring her almost every hour. It almost felt like her body and mind stopped helping her anymore." He hesitantly explained, but Byron had heard these kinds of things many times in the past years and dejectedly said, "Doctor, I don't care what she wants. I want her to return to me. I want my sister. Do you get it?" The doctor knew he would not take 'No' for an answer and agreed, "Mr Byron, I always try my best, and I will do that still now, but last hope, depen
