FLASHBACK
AILEEN’S POV
“Are you saying that I need to eat this meat? It is raw!” I complained and glanced at the meat on the table, I wanted to retch but it looked so appetizing.
“You’re drooling.” The man said to me and I immediately raised my hands to clean my mouth and sure enough, there was saliva running down my cheeks. I glared at him and stubbornly pursed my lips and looked away; I wasn’t going to eat raw food. Food that was still oozing blood is raw! The man sighed and sat down on the other chair that was close to the seat I was supposed to sit on, he crossed his long legs and stared at me; hard. It was cold and judging. The playful demeanor I had seen was completely gone and the person in front of me was a brand new person, a brand new character.
“Miss, you might not know this, but there are other people out there who are like you, I am one as well. Since I was born as a werewolf, I don’t know how it feels to suddenly start eating raw meat or any of that and I know that you are confused about everything. However, if you do not feed yourself with this, I assure you that very soon, human flesh will be what you want to consume.” The man said flatly and my eyes widened.
“W… what do you mean?”
“You have been starving yourself for a week now, for even a normal human, you would be able to eat anything that comes your way if you were so hungry, the same goes for our kind, only that, it would be more brutal.” The man continued, the more he spoke, the more dread filled my stomach. What the heck was he saying?!
“I take it that you have already begun to feel it? Sense it? The delicious smell of human flesh, you imagine feeling the taste in your mouth and the blood dripping from your lips, you imagine tearing your hands into the skin and relishing the taste of their flesh…”
“No… stop.”
“That is one of the reasons why you don’t want to step outside, you don’t want to do anything like that so you locked the doors and isolated yourself. Let me tell you, against the strength of a werewolf, those doors will do nothing. You can break them apart like butter, they would not protect the people outside from you, neither will it stop you, so please, just eat so you won’t do something that you will not regret.”
I bit my lips, everything he said was true. I had begun to crave human flesh, but could I really eat that? Raw meat? I gulped; my lips trembled as I walked towards the table. His words continued to echo in my ears as I sat down, I reached out to take the fork and cut a piece of the meat. The fork sliced through it like butter and just like before, the delectable scent wafted from the meat and into my nose.
I closed my eyes and took a bite, just a small bit and I was prepared to gag, prepared to vomit, but it was pleasant. The raw meat tasted good, it didn’t taste bad, and then I knew, I was hungry. I was starved. Without warning, I started gobbling down the food without any sense of decency, tears flowed down my eyes. It was as if I was betraying the part of me that was human but I was also embracing my new side, my animalistic side.
Truth to be told, I was scared and I told him as we talked. Xander, his name, he told me that it was okay but I shouldn’t let the fear get to me. If I let it, it would lead to disastrous effects; I didn’t listen and look where it got me.
FLASHBACK ENDS.
Someone, please, please save me.
I was transforming, I let the fear control me, it took over and now, I would be known as a freak. I lowered my head, the voices were telling me to run, but where could I run to? I was cornered; everyone was staring at me and even if I was able to run away, what next? What would I do next?
My body trembled, it was getting more painful. I needed something to cool my skin, to cool my heart, I needed him. That silver eyed man. I prayed for him to come, would he hear my prayers? Could he feel my hope?
I wanted to give up, I was about to give up when I heard the doors to the café open and at that moment, I felt it. My entire soul was screaming ‘mate’. Ah yes, Xander told me, he told me that the silver eyed man I met was my mate and his master, he was the one who sent Xander to look for me. He was here.
He walked towards me, his strides were fast but unhurried, he seemed to reach me with just seven steps, I longed for his cool arms and once they embraced me, I melted. The hotness in my skin cooled to an extent and the pain reduced, it didn’t leave, but it reduced and I welcomed it. He carried me in his arms and kissed my forehead, I could feel the rhythmic beat of his heart and it was comforting, he whispered into my ears, “You have done well, now you can rest, I will protect you.” Those words held a spell it seemed, for it lured me to sleep, and sleep I did.
The world had gone dark but I could also see light, the light that was coming for me. From deep within my consciousness, I could hear voices, their voices. One time, I heard the voice of an old man, he said, “Has she woken up? It’s been four days.” And that familiar voice, the person was still holding me so gently replied, “She will soon wake up, and when she does, it’ll be more painful than this so let her sleep.”
AUTHOR’S POV It was already the sixth day since Aileen began her transformation, today, she woke up from her slumber and the last part of her transformation began. Aileen opened her mouth to scream, however, she could not. Her breath had been knocked out of her. Aileen’s skin stretched and rippled, as though it were a canvas being violently stretched and painted anew. Her bones cracked and shifted beneath her flesh, producing sickening, bone chilling sounds. She gasped for breath, her lungs struggling to adapt to the changing shape of her ribcage. Her open and once human eyes burned with a cold intensity as they transformed between icy blue and silver, and matured into the predatory orbs of a fully matured werewolf. Clumps of hair fell to the ground as soon as they grew, and was replaced by a thick pelt of fur that sprouted from her skin. Each strand erupted like hot needles piercing her flesh. Aileen’s howls of pain filled the room, and droplets of sweat mixed with crimson beads o
JOSHUA’S POV “It could affect her in the future, not all the power in the seal was removed and she could have issues controlling her power in the future.” I murmured and Xander nodded. “Traces of the Seal still linger on her and like you said, it could possibly affect her in the future. However, this might be a good thing. If we are able to determine the origin of the seal while it is still on her, we will be able to remove the rest of its traces. But for now, Miss Aileen will have to live with the rest of the seal with you there to protect her when the need arises.” Ryan walked forward to cover Aileen with the blanket. When he went to her, however, he saw that she was wide awake and was staring at him with her blue eyes. In shock, Ryan stepped back but he soon composed himself very quickly, the surprise that was etched on his face had disappeared. “Miss Aileen, you’re awake.” Immediately he said that, I stood up from my chair and went to her side, her drowsy eyes turned to me and I
“Well, I believe Xander has explained some things to you when he first came to visit you? I didn’t want to come myself so I would not overwhelm you with loads of information. I didn’t expect that you would be able to transform so quickly.” Silver eyes said to me as he dragged his chair to sit so close to me and looked me directly in the eye. “You still don’t know how to control your appendages; they’re wagging like you just finished having a treat.” Silver eyes teased me and I blushed, that was foul! How could he compare me to a dog, I was a wolf! A beautiful silver wolf! I had noticed my silver tail when I was eating earlier but I just chose not to mention it. “That day, at the forest, when we first met, you suddenly disappeared. Like, you vanished without any trace; it took a long time before Xander was able to find you. If it wasn’t for the scent you left on the both of us, we would have been unable to track you.” “Okay… I understand but what does that have to do with what is hap
“Can you sense it? Think of the power that coils itself around your heart as a vine, yet this vine does not have thorns." Joshua’s voice swept around my ears like a hungry flame, it was deep and controlling. I gave a satisfied nod; I could, in fact, perceive the force that he was referring to. It pulsated and flowed around my heart like a fish swimming around a pond. It gave out an icy and peaceful vibe, as if it were something that was not meant to be touched. "Take command of it and shape it according to your whims, for your power was created specifically for you to exercise command over it. If you allow it to run uncontrolled, it could put the people around you in risk and, as a result, hurt you as well." Joshua tapped me on the shoulders with the handle of the knife that he was holding. It was a bit uncomfortable though, the cold knife he held, if it was before, I would have welcomed the coldness, but I didn’t anymore. But still, I followed what he said. ‘Tried’ to follow would
AUTHOR’S POV Two days after Joshua and the rest had the conversation, Joshua offered to take Aileen out as she had been in the mansion for a couple of days, without having seen anyone apart from them. "Are you all set?" Joshua asked as he got off the couch, moved closer to her, and offered his hand to her to hold. Aileen placed her hands in Joshua's while she eyed him, but he only smiled and proceeded to twirl one of his fingers around her palm before completely encasing her’s with his large hands. Aileen had seen that Joshua has a strange fondness for holding her hands, and she has to admit that she finds this endearing. "Where are you guys heading to?" Xander inquired, and Ryan also displayed an expression of interest, regarding the plans that they had together. Joshua grinned as he gazed up at the enormous ceilings and said with a chuckle to Aileen, "Since we've been stuck in here for a while, I'd like to take her on a tour of the city. We won't stay out for too long." Aileen's a
AUTHOR'S POV "Are you telling me that I can have this car? You've got to be kidding, right?" Joshua shrugged and put one of his arms on the steering wheel. As he did this, Aileen saw the veins that ran through his arms. Aileen continued to stare at Joshua. Aileen had noticed this when she first saw Joshua's upper body while he was training her, but she would never stop being surprised by his body type and structure. Joshua had a physical shape called an hour glass, which was unusual to see in men at the time. His defined muscular frame and chiseled chest matched his broad shoulders and sculpted arms, which were all hallmarks of his physique. His waist was tight and slender, and it gently transitioned into a toned abdomen, which combined to form a visually pleasing and stunning man. He would be the envy of a great number of guys and perhaps some women. "Are you satisfied with what you see? It will be yours going forward, so you can look at it whenever and whenever you choose; but, w
AUTHOR'S POV "Well, that forest we went to on the way here was just a diversion; the place I was really bringing you is here." Joshua parked the car in front of a massive club that was blasting music quite loudly. Because everything was so loud, Aileen immediately grimaced and covered her ears, but Joshua slowly removed her hands from her ears and held it in his. The heat from his palms enveloped her hands. "It is better to get used to it because then you will be able to associate different sounds with what they truly are." "What exactly do you mean?" Aileen tried to ask a question, but someone cut her off. As Aileen studied him, she noticed the black ears on top of his head twitching against his black outfit. The guy was aware that she was staring at him, so he gave her a tiny bow. When he raised his head again, he had a grin on his lips, and his adorable fangs were visible. "I'll be back in a few hours; in the meantime, you can take care of the car." Joshua gave over the keys to
AILEEN’S POV "Whoa… This spot is stunning; I don’t know how I could have missed it all these years that I stayed here." I breathed in the scent of the clean river and the forest that was some miles away from us. It was a good thing that we chose to come to this place, the smell of alcohol, of sex and everything that was in between burned my nose. I held onto the railings as I raised my head and closed my eyes, I listened to the wind and thought about everything that had happened. The burden that had been weighing on my heart for a prolonged amount of time was finally lifted when I transformed into a werewolf. It had been a very long time since I was able to experience this kind of freedom, this liberty at being myself. I suddenly turned to Joshua who had been staring at me, I felt his eyes but I chose to ignore it. "You haven't been to this place before, have you?” He asked me and I shook my head, my tied hair followed my small movements. Whenever people stopped, they turned to star
