Adrian’s POV

“Ezra, please don’t!” Sera cries, clutching our son to her chest.

Our son.

For a split second, everything blurs — the dining table, Ivy’s pale face, the sound of her heels scraping against the floor. All I can see is Ezra’s limp body in Sera’s trembling arms. My mind can’t keep up. Just a moment ago, I was furious — too furious — and now I can’t breathe.

“Sera…” The name slips from my mouth, hollow and useless. My throat burns as panic claws its way up.

Ivy’s crying too, loud and shaky, calling Ezra’s name like she actually cares. But something about it feels… off. Like she’s performing grief, not feeling it.

“GILLIAN!” I bark.

My security chief bursts through the door, his face alert.

“Tell Philip to get the car ready — now. And call the nearest hospital. Emergency.” My voice is steel, but inside, I’m chaos.

He hesitates, eyes darting to Ezra’s still form, but one sharp look from me sends him running.
