INICIAR SESIÓN"What did Mr. Daniel want from you? I saw him holding your arm," Nathaniel asked as he drove Lora home.
A soft smile played on his lips, but beneath that calm expression, he was burning with jealousy. He and Lora had met abroad seven years ago, and ever since then, he had been trying to win her heart. Nathaniel had always been there for her, offering his support and helping her whenever she needed a friend or someone she could depend on. However, Lora had neither turned down his advances nor accepted his feelings. Since he had never openly confessed his affection for her, she had never felt the need to address it either. Seeing another man show interest in Lora made him feel somewhat uneasy. Lora let out a sigh at Nathaniel's question. Her encounter with Daniel had left a bitter feeling in her heart. She glanced at Nathaniel and replied, "A business partnership." "Did you agree?" Nathaniel asked quietly. Without even realizing it, he tightened his grip on the steering wheel as he waited anxiously for her response. His knuckles gradually turned white from the force of his grip. "I told him I'd think about it..." Lora replied, turning her gaze towards the window as they approached the building where her apartment was situated. Despite having reunited with her family, she still preferred living on her own. Her mind drifted back to her conversation with Daniel, and a trace of hatred flickered across her eyes. Seven years ago, if her parents hadn't arrived in time to rescue her, she would have lost her life in that explosion. The memory of Daniel's cruelty stirred up a fresh wave of anger inside her. 'How dare he compare me to Sophia Bennett? That woman died seven years ago,' she thought bitterly. "Lora, we've arrived." Nathaniel's voice pulled her out of her thoughts. He turned towards her and added, "I wish the journey had been a little longer." Lora chuckled softly before replying, "Thank you for bringing me home, Nathaniel. I had a wonderful time tonight.” "Can I come upstairs? I'd love to say hello to the little ones," Nathaniel asked, prompting Lora to turn and look at him. Nathaniel had always been thoughtful and considerate towards her. He had stood by her side through everything and had always done his best to protect her. There had even been moments when she considered giving him a chance. However, starting a relationship wasn't something Lora wanted to focus on at the moment. She smiled gently and replied, "It's getting late, Nate. You can meet them another time... Goodnight." Although Nathaniel felt a little disappointed, he didn't let it show. Instead, he nodded and said, "You're right... It wouldn't be appropriate. I'll come and see them tomorrow with some gifts." Lora smiled at him before stepping out of his car and heading upstairs to her apartment. "Sebastian, is this handsome uncle our daddy?" Tessa asked innocently as she sat beside her brother, staring at the tablet in his hands. The twins were watching the livestream of their mom's introduction party when they suddenly spotted a man who looked like an older version of Sebastian. Sebastian didn't respond. His attention remained fixed on the man displayed on the tablet, while a serious expression, far beyond what one would expect from a five-year-old, settled on his little face. "This handsome uncle looks exactly just like you, Sebastian. I have a feeling he's our daddy," Tessa commented. "I would be so happy if he really was.” "Tessa, whether that man is our daddy or not is something we still need to find out. But whatever happens, we must never mention him in front of Mommy," Sebastian instructed, his brows drawing together. "Why? He attended Mommy's party and even held her arm. I saw it with my own eyes," Tessa replied innocently. "He has to be our daddy." "It's not that simple to explain. Didn't you notice the woman sitting beside him in the wheelchair? From what I know, she's none other than his fiancée," Sebastian explained. He zoomed in on the woman's picture on the tablet, his eyebrows pulling together as he looked at her face. 'So, this is the woman Daddy loves?' he wondered silently. "Are you saying our daddy abandoned Mommy because of this woman?" Tessa asked, her eyes widening in disbelief. After all, they had both witnessed how hard their mother worked every day to provide for them and take care of them. "That's why we can't assume this man is our daddy until I've investigated everything properly. Otherwise, we might end up making Mommy sad." "Alright, I understand. But if that woman really is the reason our daddy left us, I'll help Mommy get back every bit of what she's owed," Tessa declared, her eyes sparkling with a mischievous glint. Sebastian smiled gently and touched Tessa's head. "Sebastian, Tessa, Mommy is home!" Just then, they heard Lora's voice coming from the entrance. Sebastian quickly placed the tablet aside, and the two children immediately pretended they hadn't been doing anything. Tessa rushed into her mother's arms and hugged her tightly. "Mommy, you're finally back! Did you enjoy yourself at the party tonight?" "Of course! I had a wonderful time with my grandfather and grandmother!" Lora replied excitedly, her heart overflowing with warmth. Tessa carefully studied her mother's face before asking, "Mommy, are you upset?" Lora didn't seem to be in a particularly good mood. Tessa frowned and thought, 'Could Mommy be unhappy because Daddy was with that lady in the wheelchair?' Lora was caught off guard by her daughter's question. She gently caressed Tessa's hair and smiled before answering, "Mommy is perfectly happy. But why are you two still awake? Haven't you gone to bed yet?" She had assumed the children would have fallen asleep under the nanny's care. However, despite how late it was, they were still wide awake waiting for her. "We were waiting for you, Mom. I can't fall asleep without getting my goodnight kisses," Tessa replied sweetly. "Aww, my precious baby," Lora said affectionately. She leaned down and planted several kisses on Tessa's forehead and cheeks before moving over to Sebastian and showering him with the same affection. "I love you, Mom," Tessa whispered. "And Sebastian loves you too." Lora's heart melted instantly. Despite all the pain Daniel had caused her, her two children remained the greatest gifts he had ever given her. They meant everything to her, and nothing else mattered more than their happiness. Lora pulled both children into a warm embrace, completely unaware of the calculating glint that flickered in Sebastian's eyes."Lora..." Daniel said through clenched teeth. "How dare you describe me as a scumbag?"Although he had only been teasing her after she accused him of stalking her, he never expected her to insult him that way.Fury rose inside him as he stared angrily at Lora."Isn't that exactly how scumbags behave?" Lora asked calmly. "There's no reason for you to stand so close to me, Mr. Daniel. Please maintain some self-respect and behave professionally."Daniel tightened his jaw before moving away from her. He scoffed and replied, "Don't think too highly of yourself, Miss Lora."Lora breathed a sigh of relief. With Daniel standing so close to her, it had been difficult to hide her hatred, and she didn't want to give herself away."I'm not thinking too highly of myself. I simply expect both of us to remain professional and know our boundaries," Lora said firmly.Daniel frowned but said nothing, trying to contain his anger and the embarrassment of being rejected."Why did you come back to my offic
"Mr. Daniel, you should at least knock before entering my office," Lora said coldly."Lora Sterling," Daniel stressed her full name, "there's something I need to confirm with you.""What is it? If it's about work, I've already started on my first design. I'll inform you once it's ready," Lora replied."Lora. Or should I say Sophia? I want to talk about your real identity," Daniel said, staring directly into her eyes.Hearing Sophia's name once again, Lora couldn't help rolling her eyes. She couldn't understand why Daniel was so fixated on finding out who she was."Mr. Daniel, I've told you countless times. If you're having mental problems, please visit a hospital and get treatment. I'm not a doctor."Daniel seemed to have expected her to respond that way. He smiled at her, slowly pulled out his phone, and showed her the picture displayed on the screen.Lora took a quick look at the photo, but her expression remained unchanged."Mr. Daniel, I don't know who this Sophia you're always ta
"I promised to marry her, Grandfather," Daniel replied.Ivy had been hurt because she was going to meet him. If he left her, he didn't think he would be able to live with himself.Fredrick Kingsley frowned as he looked at his grandson. He couldn't understand how someone as intelligent as Daniel could let a woman deceive him."As long as I'm the head of this family, I'll never allow it," Fredrick declared. "Ivy Williams will never become our family member."His words carried authority, and Daniel didn't dare argue with him. Although Fredrick was old, he was still the Chairman of Daniel Group and had not lost his commanding presence."Father, she was hurt because…"I don't fucking care what lies that woman has told you to make you behave this way. Daniel, if you want to end up like your father, then keep entertaining her. I was already disappointed in how you treated Sophia. She was such a sweet and kind woman, but you ruined everything," Fredrick remarked.Silence followed his words. F
"He still behaves as though everything in the world revolves around him," Lora muttered quietly.Daniel had already left, but the anger inside her was still growing. She had returned with a new identity, hoping to leave her painful past behind and begin a fresh chapter of her life. However, it seemed she had somehow become caught up with Daniel and Ivy all over again.Lora's eyes turned cold as she remembered what the thug had said before they set the warehouse ablaze. Someone wanted her gone, and the only person she could suspect was Ivy.Now that Daniel was paying her unnecessary attention, Lora knew it was just a matter of time before Ivy made her a target once again.I must stay away from Daniel at all costs if I want to keep myself and my children safe, she thought. If Ivy ever discovered that Lora had Daniel's children, only God knew what she might do to them.Nathaniel noticed the change in her expression, he asked, "Do you know Daniel?"It was rather strange how the man kept s
"How did you find out about this place?Aren't you still new to this city?" Lora glanced around the elegant restaurant before asking.Nathaniel smiled."I made some inquiries about the finest place to take a beautiful woman out on a date," he answered.Lora went still, her eyes widening slightly.Noticing her reaction, Nathaniel burst into laughter."Look at your face. I was only teasing you. I actually wanted to bring you here to celebrate your first business partnership," he explained.Lora relaxed after Nathaniel cleared things up. She quietly breathed a sigh of relief before responding, "Thank you, Nate. You've always treated me so well... whether we're abroad or here. I truly appreciate everything.""Nothing comes for free. After we've finished this meal, you'll have to take me out for dinner in return," Nathaniel remarked.Lora chuckled and shook her head before giving him her assurance."Of course. I'll be the one paying for our next dinner."The restaurant was illuminated by s
"Ivy, what are you doing?" Daniel asked as he returned, his voice pulling her out of her thoughts. His gaze fell on the file in her hand. Ivy quickly placed it back on the table before turning to him with a smile. She had wanted to look through the documents, but Daniel had returned before she could finish."Daniel, can I work for your new jewellery company?" Ivy asked.Daniel frowned before settling into his swivel chair. "Ivy...""You've always looked after me, and I'm a jewellery designer too. I would love to help you with the new company."In her words, the crease between Daniel's brows deepened. He considered her physical condition, and conflicting emotions began to stir within him."Do you think I'm incapable of working just because of my condition?" Ivy asked in a gentle, pitiful tone.Guilt washed over Daniel. He didn't know how to turn down her request without hurting her feelings. After clearing his throat, he replied, "Of course, you can work. You can join the company as on
