Issac kissed her searingly. Sucking on her bottom lip and devouring her mouth as his free hand moved to grab her throat in a dominant grip to stop her struggles.

Innessa couldn't break the kiss. His hold on her hair and neck didn't even let her budge. Her eyes moistened because she needed to breathe, and he was being too rough.

She tried to pry his hand off her throat, but it was of no use. Issac wouldn't move. Instead, he deepened the kiss, devouring her mouth, sucking on her tongue, and forcing her mouth to open wider as saliva dripped down to her chin.

He was savage.

He finally broke the kiss, pulling back, glaring vicious daggers at Archie while smirking triumphantly, seeing his ashen face.

Innessa straightened her head as her neck throbbed and she felt dizzy. "She is my girlfriend. Not fake, but a real one. I don't mind you messing with me. Be careful." Issac sneered coldly as everyone around them gaped at him.

Innessa's brows furrowed as she listened to his cold words. She didn't even gather her bearings when he grabbed her wrist and began to drag her out of there.

"Issac, stop. Let go!" She tried to free her wrist, but he didn't let her go. Instead, his hold on her wrist tightened to the point that it hurt her.

She winced, trying to free her wrist, but to no avail as he dragged her out of the restaurant in front of everyone.

He opened his car door and shoved her inside before slamming the door shut. Issac got in the driver's seat and roared the engine to life as he sped down the road.

"Issac!" She gritted her teeth because he was getting on her nerves and was scaring her.

She didn't know where he was driving to. He looked so mad.

"What's wrong with you? Stop the car," She demanded, but he didn't say anything and continued to drive to God knows where, but thankfully to her utter relief, he pulled over the car at the parking lot of her dorm building.

He was furious and was trying to control his rage. Issac wanted to rip Archie apart, limb by limb. He felt like killing him for real. How dare that f*cker confess to Innessa?

"Issac," Her curt voice forced his icy gaze to fall on her as a brief amount of fear swarmed in her eyes before she masked it.

"What was all that?" She demanded in a stern tone.

"What does it look like? That guy was confessing to my girlfriend. What was I supposed to do?" He gritted. It was taking everything in him to talk politely and behave like a gentleman when all he wanted to do was have his way with her in the backseat of his car and imprint his claim on her for eternity so all the f*ckers would stay miles away from her.

"Why did you intervene? I could've answered him myself. And... And why did you kiss me in front of everyone?"

"What's so wrong with that? I just kissed my girlfriend," he said coldly.

"Everything is wrong with this. What you did at the restaurant was so wrong. You were behaving so rudely," She retorted.

He scoffed, glaring ahead while his hold on the steering wheel tightened.

"So, what I did was wrong, but what about that guy confessing to you. Was that alright?"

"I'm not saying it's alright, Issac. You're not understanding what I'm saying-"

"Why did you go with him, Innessa? You have a boyfriend and still go out with him," He grumbled, causing her eyes to widen.

"He's my friend, Issac. I can enjoy a meal with him." She was getting angry.

"Didn't you see how dressed he was just for friends' dinner when he picked you up from the cafe?"

"What? Wait-" She stopped abruptly. Her eyes widened.

"Were you stalking me, Issac?" Her voice was low and full of shock.

He clenched his jaw, glaring ahead, taking a sharp breath to calm his nerves down; he faced her again.

"I wasn't stalking. I was waiting for you outside the cafe."

"Then you decided to stalk me into the restaurant?"

"Why didn't you tell me via text that you were hanging out with him?"

"Why would I tell you that?"

"You're my girlfriend. That's why," He deadpanned. His voice was an octave high, which caused her to flinch back.

Tears pricked the back of her eyes as she tried not to cry. She didn't want to fight him, but what he did was wrong. He not only stalked her but also created a scene and kissed her, which she didn't want to happen in front of all those people. What Archie must be thinking about her? He must be heartbroken. It wasn't like Innessa would've led on Archie. She would've told him the truth and politely rejected him, but what Issac did was wrong. Now that he had mentioned it, she realized she should've told him about her dinner with Archie, but it was her first relationship. She didn't know she was supposed to inform Issac about such things as well.

"I'm sorry for not informing you about the dinner with Archie when I should've," she said, wiping the tear that escaped her eye as she tried to open the door, but it was locked.

"Can you please open the door?" she said, avoiding his eyes.

"You're not going anywhere." He said curtly, causing her eyes to snap to him. Her eyes were moist. And he didn't like the fact that it was because of him.

He surely wanted to make her cry, but only in bed, and that too because of immense pleasure.

"I don't want to talk to you right now," she said in a calm tone, and his eyes narrowed.

"Why? Are you mad I ruined your dinner with him?" He said sharply.

Her jaw ticked as anger flashed in her eyes. "I'm mad at you for stalking me. For barging in there and behaving like a gangster. For kissing me in front of everyone. For controlling the whole situation as if you're a God. I didn't like it." She said all of that in one breath, glaring at him.

He gnashed his molars in suppressed rage. He barely showed her a fraction of his true self, and she was acting like this. What would happen when she'd find out the truth? It looked like Darla or any of her friends hadn't told her anything about him.

"Look, Issac," She breathed in deeply and wiped the tears as she faced him with a calm demeanor.

"I understand you were waiting for me outside the cafe, it's fine, but you following me is not okay. You should've called me. Texted me, but you did nothing about that and decided to stalk me." She inhaled a deep breath and continued. She was behaving like a therapist.

"I understand you were angry, but the way you behaved with Archie wasn't acceptable. He didn't know we were dating. So, he wasn't at fault. You should've let me take care of the situation rather than jumping in. I could've handled it better." She said in a soft tone so he'd understand her.

"So, you prefer I watch rather?"

"No, but that doesn't mean you'll behave like a thug and kiss me in front of everyone as if I'm your property. What about me? What if I wanted to keep our relationship private? And I never wanted to show our intimacy in public. A kiss in public is fine, but what you did wasn't just a kiss, Issac."

His eyes darkened when she mentioned thug. He wasn't a thug, but surely his personality resembled that.

"Thug? Did that irk you? Why do you want to keep it private? And that kiss was marking my territory," His voice was cold, making her heart constrict in her chest.

It felt like he didn't hear a single thing she said. "I hate thugs," she said in a low tone.

"Open the door. I want to go," she said in a small voice, lowering her gaze.

He tsked before unlocking the door as she quietly stepped out and disappeared into the building, causing him to slam his hand on the wheel in anger, cursing profanities under his breath.

Issac couldn't sleep that night. He kept tossing and turning on the bed. Called her seven times within two hours, but the phone kept on ringing, it even said she was on another call, which made him wonder if she was talking to Archie but she still didn't answer him, which irritated him to no end.

At the early dawn, he was in the indoor gym at the mansion, punching the punching bag ruthlessly. Even when Theo stepped into the gym, he didn't utter a word after witnessing how mad Issac looked. After vigorous training. He felt spent. Issac showered and got ready. He went straight to the dormitory and quietly waited for her outside.

Though he wanted to kill Archie, he had a feeling Innessa wouldn't like it. Not only that, but he felt like his head would explode with constant thinking about their argument. He passed the whole time in constant fear that she'd leave him.

F*ck!

Issac f*cking Knight felt fear for the very first time in his life, and he didn't like it one bit. F*ck Archie. F*ck everything else. He wanted Innessa to talk to him, or else he might lose his damn mind.

He noticed her walking out of the building dressed in baggy pants and a white shirt with her bag on her shoulder. Her hair was up in a ponytail. As she got closer, he noticed her tired eyes. He wondered if she couldn't sleep as well. She stepped out only to pause when her gaze clashed with his.

He was expecting her to leave or to be mad at him, but nothing prepared him for what happened next.

Her chin jutted out, her eyes tearing up as she jogged over to him and threw herself on him. Issac wrapped his strong arms around her. His heart fluttered in peace as he nuzzled his face in her shoulder and neck, inhaling her scent to his heart's content as he gave her a little twirl. Her feet weren't even touching the ground as he hugged her tightly.

They remained like that for a couple of minutes before she slowly pulled back and dropped to her feet while he still held her close, kissing her forehead as she closed her eyes.

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry, my love."

They both said simultaneously as they blinked at each other before chuckling lightly. That mere endearment made her heart swell with peace.

Issac grasped her chin and raised her face as he gently pressed his lips on hers, kissing her softly.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have reacted like that. You were right." He said, kissing her fluffy cheek as she blinked, trying not to cry.

"I'm sorry for not informing you about it. I searched for important tips for healthy relationships on YouTube last night, and they mentioned informing your partner about your plans and such stuff. It will not happen again," she said innocently and his heart f*cking quivered as he kissed her other cheek as well.

"It's not your fault. I just lost my mind seeing you with another man." He kissed her temple.

Issac opened the door for her, only for her to find a beautiful red rose on the passenger's seat. She grabbed it, glancing at him in surprise. "It's for you." He said as she thanked him. Innessa kissed him on the cheek before taking her seat as he touched the place where she kissed him.

The things he was doing were beyond him. He was at the point of no return. Imagine the surprise of his cousins when they find out that he loved to be called a baby by Innessa and could die for her innocent cheek kisses. They'll put him in the coffin with all the teasing.

Issac got in the car as they headed to the academy.

"Innessa, why didn't you answer my calls last night?"

"I... It's just that. Whenever some inconvenience happens, I isolate myself to think straight. I... I just need a little time to proceed with my thoughts, and I will come back quickly. I know it's not good, my sister used to tell me all the time to fix this, and I'm trying to overcome this toxic trait of mine." She said in a small voice.

This trait of hers might as well give him a heart attack someday. "It's okay. I understand," he said, behaving like an understanding boyfriend, but in reality, he wanted to barge into the dorms last night just to talk to her.

"Do you want to keep our relationship private?" He asked as she blinked at him in surprise. He knows what she said last night, which means he listened to everything and thought about it.

"No. I... I still want everyone to know I'm taken, but I don't want to reveal the person. Because it seems like you're a famous person at the academy, and if people found out, I'd get unwanted attention, which I'd like to avoid. I don't know how to explain it-"

"I understand it. I completely understand it, so don't worry." He said, grabbing her hand, lacing their fingers as he kissed the back of her hand gently.

After her shift, Issac picked her up, and they grabbed some ice cream on the way to the dorms. He grabbed her hand and clicked some aesthetic pictures of her small, delicate hand in his big, tatted one. He sent the picture to her and posted one on his I* in front of her with a caption.

'Mine ❤'

She smiled so adorably at his sweet gesture. Innessa did the same. She posted the picture of their hands on her I* as she wondered what to write in the caption.

"What shall I write?" She asked.

"Whatever you want," He mused.

"My baby?"

His eyes darkened. The irony of the ruthless man feeling mushy every time she called him baby

"Go ahead."

"No, I'll just put a heart emoji," she said, but he shook his head.

"Write ‘taken’ with a heart emoji," he said, but before she could say anything, he interrupted.

"It'll make me happy," he said. She smiled, feeding him a spoon of her ice cream as she put the caption.

'Taken ❤'

She posted the picture.

Not a second later, her phone was bombarded with notifications.

'You guys look perfect together. Loveeeee🥺✨' Scarlett commented.

'Congrats, Innessa. 💕' Darla commented.

'Lovely 💕😍' Elena commented.

'I'll die single🥺,' Maddox commented.

'Congratulations, guys,' Theo commented.

Innessa liked their comments while Issac was peering into her phone and glaring at the comments of his cousins.

"When did they follow you?" He asked, referring to the twins.

"Movie night." She answered shortly as he made a mental note to give those jerks a piece of his mind.

Innessa's phone blared, and it was her sister calling.

She sighed, shaking her head. It was time for her family to find out.

She texted her sister saying she'll call in fifteen minutes as Issac drove her back to the dorms.

He kissed her on the lips, a gentle yet passionate kiss. He could taste ice cream on her lips as she gently waved at him and disappeared into the building.

Issac smiled softly when his phone blared. It was his mom.

He answered the call only to hear her joyous voice.

"You're dating someone, Issac?" She sounded so excited.

"Who told you, Mom?" He asked in a gentle voice.

"Maddox just sent me an SS. Who's the girl? What's her name? Send her pictures, please. God, I'm so excited. When are you bringing her home?" Harper was on cloud nine.

Issac chuckled as something warm enveloped his heart, knowing that his mom would love Innessa. How nice it would be to see both the women chatting and smiling in front of him. The thought alone brought a smile to his lips.

There was a time he didn't even find Innessa attractive, and look at him now. Addicted to the point of no return.

Irony

"Calm down, Mom. Her name is Innessa," he said, smiling.

"God. FaceTime me, Issac. I want to see your face. You sound like your father when he fell in love with me," she said, making him chuckle as he headed home and FaceTimed his mom telling her about the girl who made his heart skip a beat.

  • Tainted Whispers   Epilogue

The grand corridors of the Volkov estate were steeped in a profound, heavy silence, but inside Victor’s chest, a storm raged, wild, possessive, and entirely unyielding. He moved through the marble halls with long, deliberate strides, his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his dark trousers. On the surface, he was still the Pakhan, the ruthless sovereign who had reduced the Moretti syndicate to ash and brought the regional underworld to its knees in a single night. But behind the icy blue resolve of his eyes, his mind belonged entirely to one person.Serena.The mere sound of her name echoing in his head felt like a dark, intoxicating fever. Victor had spent his entire life mastering control. He had trained his heartbeat to remain steady in the face of death, built an empire out of absolute discipline, and viewed emotion as a fatal flaw in a dangerous world. But Serena had shattered every defense he possessed without firing a single bullet. He was smitten, completely, helplessly, an

The golden hour sun bathed the estate’s private courtyard in a deep, honey-colored light, casting long shadows across the cobblestones. The dark storm clouds from the previous nights were long gone, leaving behind a sky of crisp, clear sapphire. In the center of the courtyard sat a wrought-iron table laid out with late-afternoon tea, fresh pastries, and bowls of bright summer berries. For the first time in memory, the oppressive silence of the Volkov estate was broken not by low, tense whispers of syndicate business, but by the sweet sound of clear, unrestrained laughter.Sarah leaned back in her plush chair, a blanket draped over her knees, her cheeks flushed with a healthy, vibrant color. She was laughing so hard at a story Serena was telling that she had to set her teacup down to keep from spilling it."He didn't!" Sarah gasped, her eyes wide as she looked at her sister."I swear he did!" Serena laughed, her ocean-blue eyes sparkling with pure, unadulterated joy. She reached over,

By mid-afternoon, the heavy tension of the council briefing had completely dissipated, replaced by a quiet serenity that the Volkov estate had never seen before. The glass doors of the grand sunroom were pushed wide open, allowing a cool, pine-scented breeze to sweep across the polished marble floors. Outside, the rain-washed grounds glistened beneath the clear blue sky.Sarah sat on a plush, cream-colored sofa, wrapped in a soft cashmere throw. The pale, ghost-like terror that had masked her face in the cellar was finally giving way to faint color in her cheeks. Dr. Vance had changed her bandages earlier, assuring Serena that with proper rest and nutrition, her sister’s physical wounds would heal without a trace.Serena sat beside her, carefully setting a porcelain cup of chamomile tea into Sarah’s hands."Careful, it's hot," Serena whispered gently, her fingers lingering over Sarah's wrapped knuckles.Sarah took a slow sip, letting the steam warm her face. The morning sun filtered through the sheer silk drapes of the master suite, casting long, golden ribbons of light across the plush king-sized bed. The room was an absolute sanctuary, quiet, warm, and vast, a stark contrast to the damp, iron-scented cellar that had bound her nightmares for months.Serena lay tangled in the high-thread-count sheets, the heavy wool blanket pulled over her bare shoulders. Victor was still asleep beside her, his massive arm draped possessively across her waist, pinning her against the solid heat of his chest. His breathing was slow, deep, and steady, the rare, quiet stillness of a Pakhan who had finally eliminated every threat to his empire.Serena rested her palm over his scarred forearm, feeling the rhythmic rise and fall of his ribs beneath her touch. It's over. The words echoed in her mind, sending a quiet, shuddering ripple through her chest.Lorenzo was dead. The soft moan that tore from Serena’s lips echoed against the wet marble walls of the bath, drowned out only by the quiet hum of the steaming water.Victor didn't slow his touch. Hearing her surrender to him, hearing her voice break softly in the space between them, only inflamed the dark, possessive fire burning in his blood. He deepened his grip, his large, calloused hands kneading the full weight of her breasts, his thumbs rolling rhythmically over her sensitive peaks until she was arching her back against his chest, gasping for air."You like when I touch you like this, Tigritsa?" Victor rasped near her ear, his deep Russian accent heavy with raw, unadulterated desire. His hot breath brushed over her wet neck, sending electric shivers cascading down her spine. "Even after everything... your body still knows who it belongs to.""Victor... please," Serena whimpered, her hands reaching down into the warm water to clasp at his forearms. She couldn't tell if she was begging him to stop

The quiet of the Volkov estate was heavy, almost suffocating, after the violent chaos of the night. In the guest wing of the mansion, Dr. Vance, the Volkov family’s private physician, finished wrapping the clean white bandages around Sarah’s wrists. He worked with quiet, practiced efficiency, applying a soothing salve to the brutal bruises left by the zip-ties and assessing her minor injuries before administering a mild sedative to help her rest.Serena sat on the edge of the plush mattress, never letting go of her sister’s trembling hand. She stroked Sarah’s soft hair, whispering low, reassuring words until the medicine finally took hold. Sarah’s breathing slowed into a deep, peaceful rhythm, her pale face relaxing into sleep for the first time in days.Serena pulled the heavy comforter up to Sarah's chin, lingering for a long moment to ensure she was truly safe, before standing up and quietly stepping out into the hallway.Down in the primary security hub, Victor stood over the slee

The moon was a cruel witness to Serena’s insomnia. It hung over the Moretti estate like a pale, judging eye, illuminating the cold reality she couldn’t escape. Silence had never been a problem for Victor. It was something he understood, something he controlled, something that obeyed him like everything else in his world.
