“Where have you been, Luca?”

I immediately stepped aside to let my so-called soon-to-be husband into the house.

Luca walked past me without answering.

“Watch your tone with me,” he said sternly, heading toward the stairs.

I clenched my jaw.

“I’m going to be your wife. I should at least know where you’ve been all night.”

He stopped halfway up the stairs.

“I’ve been handling the dirty work.”

I almost laughed.

“Oh, please, Luca. I know you’ve been fucking other women all night.”

His face changed instantly. The lazy amusement disappeared.

I barely had time to breathe before he turned around and came back down the stairs.

He took a step towards me, then another.

Every instinct in me screamed to move, but I refused to give him the satisfaction.

That was until he stopped directly in front of me.

I took one cautious step backward.

Then another until my back hit the wall.

Luca planted one hand beside my head and leaned closer.

His breath smelled like alcohol. I could also perceive the lingering scent of a woman.

“Listen carefully, Sofia,” he said, his voice frighteningly calm. “Do not mistake that ring on your finger for permission to question me.”

My stomach tightened.

“This marriage is a contract. Nothing more.”

His gaze hardened.

“But we can….”

“You don't get to demand my whereabouts. You don't get to interrogate me. And you certainly don't forget who you're talking to.” He cut me off .

“Watch that tone next time, and don’t forget whose family you are from,” he added as he stepped away from me. I released a breath.

I hated him, he always makes me feel so small.

“I don't want you bringing home an STD,” I muttered. “It's not like I care what you do.”

Luca chuckled.

Not because anything was funny. Because apparently my words were beneath him.

His eyes moved over me with a look that made my skin crawl.

Then his gaze stopped at my neck. He stared at it.

My heart slammed against my ribs.

Shit.

Enzo.

Had I missed something? Didn’t I cover the marks properly?

Has Luca seen the marks?

I instinctively touched my neck.

Luca's eyes narrowed.

“Where's Enzo?”

My blood ran cold.

“Why did you send him to keep me company?” I asked quickly. “I'm not a child, Luca.”

“Of course you're not.”

His gaze lingered on me again.

I hated him.

I hated the way he looked at me.

“Where is Enzo?” he demanded again.

My pulse jumped.

Oh, God!.

He knew.

“Luca.” Enzo answered from behind me.

I turned around.

He looked completely composed.

Not a trace of last night's showed on his face.

Anyone looking at him would have thought nothing had happened.

Luca looked toward him.

“Your team has a game tomorrow against the Chicago Bulls.”

“Yeah.”

“Damn it. Why didn't you tell me?”

Luca's irritation shifted from me to his cousin.

“I would've sent one of my men to watch over Sofia instead.”

Enzo's eyes flicked toward me.

Only for a second.

Then they returned to Luca.

“It's fine. I'm leaving for Chicago by noon.”

Luca sighed.

“I would've loved to watch you play, but I've got a billion-dollar company to run.”

Then he looked at me.

An idea seemed to occur to him.

“So my wife will go to my place.”

My head snapped toward him.

“The fuck?” Enzo muttered.

Luca's eyes narrowed slightly.

“What?”

“Nothing,” Enzo said.

I stared between them. Luca folded his arms.

“You're going to Chicago with Enzo.”

“No.”

The answer came out before I could stop it.

Luca's gaze snapped toward me.

I swallowed.

“Why not?” he asked.

Because being alone with Enzo was the last thing I needed.

Because I knew exactly what happened when we were left in the same room.

“I can watch him play on TV,” I said instead.

Enzo's head turned toward me.

His eyes warned me not to say another word.

Luca smiled. The fuck is he smiling for?

“Problem solved.” It’s better if you see it live.”

I stared at him in disbelief.

“Familiarize yourself with your sister-in-law.”

I noticed how Enzo's jaw tightened.

“She doesn't need to familiarize herself with me.”

Luca raised an eyebrow.

Then Enzo made the mistake of speaking again.

“We already did that last night.”

My heart stopped.

Luca's expression changed.

For one terrifying second, I thought the room had gone completely silent.

Then Enzo calmly added, “She was waiting for you when I came. We talked for a while.”

He told the lie so smoothly I almost believed it myself.

Luca studied his cousin for a while.

Enzo stared right back at him. This is awkward.

Two Verdi men.

Two dangerous men.

Finally, Luca looked away.

“Alright.”

He walked towards the stairs.

“I'll freshen up.” “Sofia, bring your ass up here. Let me eat your pussy before you leave,” Luca yelled.

My cheeks heated in embarrassment. Why would he say that in front of his cousin?

“You are disgusting, Enzo yelled after him. I heard Luca laugh before he disappeared upstairs.

“I won’t let him touch me with that contaminated tongue of his, I murmured to myself. I glanced at Enzo, and he was already staring at me with anger and irritation.

His eyes practically screamed murder.

“What?”

His jaw flexed.

“Don't.”

“Don't what?”

He stepped closer. body instinctively went rigid.

“Whatever game you're playing, Sofia, stop.” He whispered.

“I'm going to Chicago with you.”

His expression hardened even more.

“Exactly.”

He walked past me without another word.

I watched him disappear down the hallway.

Jeez.

He hated me.

At least, that was what he wanted me to believe.

Because Luca had just handed me a ticket to Chicago with the one man I was never supposed to want.

And somehow, I had a feeling Chicago was going to make everything much worse.

  • Taken By My Fiancé’s Cousin    An Idiot Called Enzo Verri

ENZOSofia deserved what happened. At least, that was what I needed to believe. She'd called Marcus handsome in Chicago. Then she kissed him at the party. So what exactly was I supposed to believe? That she only did it because she'd been jealous at the party?Bullshit.I hated that I'd even wondered. I had no right to.Not after what I'd done.I was the one who kissed her last night.I was the one who crossed that line again. And now I was standing there judging her for kissing another man?Fuck that. Why did I kiss her? I didn't know, just like I didn't know why I'd been so angry when I saw her locking lips with my teammate.I needed to stay out of her business.Whatever happened between us was a mistake. One I needed to forget.Especially after Nora.I'd already made one mess. I wasn't going to make another by getting involved with Sofia. She could deal with the consequences of her choices. And I could finally mind my own damn business and forget about what happened between us.I ha

  • Taken By My Fiancé’s Cousin    Completely Alone

The look on Enzo’s face was priceless, one look at him and anyone would think Luca had just accused him falsely. Looking at the two of them, a fight looked ready to break out.“How dare you,” Enzo finally spoke.Luca studied him calculatively.Enzo took one slow step toward him. “You walk in here and accuse me of sleeping with your fiancée? What next?”“Explain why you’re fighting so hard for her,” Luca said coldly.Enzo scoffed. “Watch yourself, Luca. I won’t play babysitter for your fiancée just to have you accuse me of such bullshit.”My eyes widened in shock. I couldn’t believe Enzo was talking to Luca like this.Luca stared at him for a few long seconds before letting out a dry chuckle. “You’re getting defensive.”Enzo’s expression didn’t flicker. “And you’re getting careless.”The room went dead silent. My heart pounded against my ribs. This was terrifying to watch.“You’re my cousin, Enzo,” Luca said softly. “Don’t forget that.”Enzo smiled, but there was nothing warm about

  • Taken By My Fiancé’s Cousin    A Nightmare

I woke up a mess, not because of what happened at the party, but because of Enzo’s kiss. It felt so good. I remembered how my stomach was flipping, or were those butterflies? It’s funny how a kiss is riling me up more than our sex could. “Why did he kiss me, though?” I asked myself.I remembered how he told me to go to bed after that without giving me any explanation. My phone ringing interrupted my thoughts. It’s been like forever since my phone rang. When I saw the caller, I sat straighter. It was my dad. He never calls. What could be the matter? I answered regardless.“H…hello, Dad.”“What the fuck did you do at that party last night?!” he barked. My eyes widened in fear. Oh my God!“D…Dad, I can ex…”“I just got a call from one of Luca’s associates!” He cut me off. “Sofia, tell me they’re lying. Tell me you didn’t embarrass the Verri family!”I didn’t know when my hands started shaking. “I…it was the alcohol,” I replied.“I don’t care what it was!” he snapped. “Do you have any ide

  • Taken By My Fiancé’s Cousin    A kiss Too Far

I watched in shock as Enzo slammed Marcus against the nearest high-top table.“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Marcus yelled angrily. Everyone backed up around us, creating a wide circle.“Say another word and you won't be playing the next game,” Enzo barked.“Enzo, man, chill!” Marcus yelled, with his hands up in defense. “It was just a kiss! Why are you acting like she's yours?”I panicked, my heart hammering in my chest. Enzo was about to punch Marcus when the rest of their teammates and some guards yanked him off.“Let go!” Enzo struggled against the hands holding him back.“Bro, calm down!” one of his teammates yelled.Marcus straightened his shirt, glaring at Enzo. “What the hell is your problem?”Enzo’s chest rose and fell heavily. His eyes stayed fixed on Marcus. “Stay away from her.”The words made my stomach flip.Marcus glanced at me, then back at Enzo. A grin spread across his face instead. “Oh.”“Don’t,” Enzo warned.“You’re jealous.”Everyone went strangely quiet.

  • Taken By My Fiancé’s Cousin    Oh Fuck

I had spent the entire night wondering who the hell had called Enzo baby. And I hated that I cared. It wasn’t my business.Enzo wasn’t my boyfriend.Hell, he was my fiancé’s cousin. So why the fuck had the sound of another woman calling him baby bothered me so much?I shrugged as I got off bed.I don’t care, I told myself.A knock sounded on my door.I walked over and opened it, only to find Enzo standing on the other side.“I came to tell you I’m leaving,” he said.“Leaving? Luca asked you to stay with me.”“We’re holding a celebration for my team’s win. I need to go put some things together. I’ll be back.”“No!” I blurted. He stared at me in confusion.“I mean… I can’t stay here alone.”His eyebrows lifted. “You’ve been sitting alone. What changed?”“Just take me with you, please,” I grumbled. “Don’t leave me alone.”“No.”He turned to walk away.“Is this because of your girlfriend?” I blurted. The fuck, Sofia?Enzo stopped and slowly looked back at me.“What does coming with me hav

  • Taken By My Fiancé’s Cousin    Who The Hell Is She?

“Maybe she had overheard our conversation back at your team’s facility.”“This is all because of you!” Enzo snapped. “For some reason, you don’t know how to keep your damn mouth shut.”“Or maybe you should have even an ounce of loyalty towards your own blood,” I snapped.Anger twisted in his face as he started playing with the kitchen knife, and I tensed in fear.“Don’t forget who you’re talking to,” he warned, pointing the damn knife at me.“You don’t scare me,” I scoffed. I was trying to act tough.“I don’t scare you?” His face hardened as he took slow steps toward me.I unconsciously got up from the stool, backing away until I was against the nearest wall.He caged me against the wall with his body.“Say that again,” he murmured, his breath fanning my face.My confidence faltered for a second, but I refused to let him see it.“You don’t scare me,” I said. He lifted the kitchen knife, slowly turning it between his fingers again.“You really have no idea who you’re playing with, do y
