Luca's Pov

Nearly two hours spent driving. That was one heck of a long time to spend alone with one's thoughts. Imagine dragons blasting from the car stereo barely did anything to drown the chaos in my head.

I'd taken a long shower earlier that morning. Long because Alex had joined in. Things seemed different between us this morning. Delicate kind of. And I found I didn't mind it. But I minded that I seemed to like it.

He spoke quieter. Avoided my eyes shyly. I liked it. And I hated that I liked it. I hated that I spoke quieter too. Hated that each time he smiled shyly, I wanted to smile back.

He made breakfast for two. And I sat down to eat with him. We barely spoke but there had been no need for words. We were communicating in some other way.

And I liked it.

And I hated it.

The promise I made the previous night kept playing over and over in my head. Which was why I was on my way to see my boss. I could only keep Alex safe if I had more information about what was goin

Alex's Pov Luca raised a brow at me and then looked around him pointedly. All around us, excited and shocked chatter rose as passengers narrated their near death experience to one another. Some stared at us but mostly Luca thanks to the bulge under his shirt that was clearly a gun. He wasn't wearing a jacket. He must've left the apartment in a hurry. “You followed me." I said to him, my voice low so no one else could hear. “I knew you were in trouble." He replied. “How?" My voice was heavy with suspicion and he narrowed his eyes at me. “Because I wasn't born yesterday. I know how shit like this works." “Cause you've done it yourself, huh?" I couldn't keep the bitter sarcasm out of my voice. He glowered at me but said nothing. I was certain we would have stormed away from each other if the train wasn't so cramped. I could barely turn to the side as it was. I had no idea where the train was heading and I was sure neither did Luca. I hated having to put my life in his ha

  • Taming The Beast: His Ruthless Desire   148. Denial.

Alex’s Pov Silence. Heavy. Cloying. I could hear my own heartbeat raging in my ears. And I was sure I could hear his. His eyes, blue, piercing, they held me in place. I stared back, unable to look away. I needed to see, needed to make sure. To make sure this was just another lie. It wasn't. He was not lying. Not this time. And I knew that because….. Because the words were an echo of the pull in my chest every time I saw him. Every time he looked at me. Every time he fucked me. “No." Denial. Safer. He said nothing back. As though the admittance of those words had erased his ability to speak another word ever again. “No." My arm stung where he had held me earlier. Tried to stop me leaving. He always tried to stop me from leaving. He said nothing still. Not with his mouth, but with his eyes, he said everything. All the words I'd longed to hear. All the words I'd yearned to say back. But not this way. Not like this. Not now. Not with what I knew now. Knowing who he was. W

  • Taming The Beast: His Ruthless Desire   147. The Truth.

Luca's Pov Fuck!Fuck fuck fuckity absolute fuck!!I slammed my fist on the steering wheel repeatedly. Alex Young had something to do with Blue wagon. Allegedly. That had to be a lie. A lie to keep me on a leash. Another leash in case the Dara angle wasn't strong enough. Despicable but Moreau wasn't above pulling stomps like that. Except, Alex was being followed and Moreau wasn't behind that. Which would mean a rival faction was. Which would in turn mean Moreau was telling the fucking truth. I hadn't been crazy during the surveillance mission. I'd heard the word Young. Alex Young. Shit! I didn't return home immediately. I couldn't. I found myself in a bar instead. I didn't like alcohol and there was a time in my life I wouldn't be caught dead in a bar. But here I was at midday, attempting to drink my troubles away. I couldn't. I stared at the glass for what seemed like hours but didn't take a single sip. Elias called and then sent a text message but I didn't pick up o

  • Taming The Beast: His Ruthless Desire   146. Anonymous.

Alex's Pov Fluffy clouds and butterflies. How and why? It had been so long since I felt this way. My life was in danger. I'd gotten trailed the previous day and I didn't know what the future held for me but right now? Fluffy clouds and butterflies. There was a change in the air. A change so substantial I could almost put out my tongue and taste it. The apartment Luca had gotten us was a lot more modest than the penthouse. Not to mention smaller. Sparsely furnished too. There was nothing to do but watch movies and sleep. It was disheartening to think this was my life from now on till further notice. But what could I do about it really? Other than trust Luca of course. He was being genuine and sincere for the first time. I could see it in his eyes. There was no hiding it. And there was no hiding the wave of feelings that came flooding in from seeing him look at me like that. Like I meant something to him. Like I meant the world to him. Did I? And did he mean the wor

  • Taming The Beast: His Ruthless Desire   144. A Promise To Keep

Luca’S Pov Alex flew into my arms the minute he opened the door for me. I held him close as he trembled, my heart wrenching in two for putting him through this. “Are you okay?” I asked, pulling back a little to gaze worryingly at his face. He nodded and chuckled nervously, "Sorry. I'm just…." “It's fine." I mumbled, feeling strangely lonely as he pulled away from my arms. “Tell me everything." I listened as he described the man's appearance and how he managed to lose him. I wasn't convinced Alex had lost the tail like he said. And from the tremble in his voice, neither did he. Also, a good tail wouldn't have been spotted that easily. And multiple times. The man sat casually in a cafe. In clear view of his target. Then followed him downtown, again not trying to hide or at least switch appearances. He wanted Alex to see him. To know he was being followed. He wasn't sent as a spy but as a warning. But why? I didn't tell Alex any of this. Didn't want to spook him any f
