Target spotted!

Alyssa fearfully took steps backwards, her body quivering by the sight of them.

“Give up!” he spat, making her tremble with a flinch.

Something told her he just loved the fear in her eyes.

It fuels his ego.

Alyssa's gaze shook, she parted her lips to question in an almost inaudible tone, “Please let me go, w-what do you want from me?” almost choking in tears.

Her terrified question was met with a psychopathic laughter rumbling from the leader of the gang. “Well, you can take a wild guess, little lamb,”

Already plastered against the smooth wall, Alyssa trembled.

Just then, one of the gangsters moved forward and whispered something in the leader's ears.

She watched as he immediately got tensed, but skilfully tried to hide it as he dragged his attention back to her.

“Look here, little lamb,” he started.

“Be nice, and we will be as well; now be a good girl and come with us. We won't hurt you if you cooperate.” the gang leader uttered with a dirty smile latched to his face.

Scared beyond words, Alyssa was broken with confusion.

Her mind raced with thoughts of escaping, but so far she came up with nothing.

She hasn't gone this far just to be captured at the end!

There must be something she can do…something that could—

Before her brain could come up with something,

A flash of light and the heavy roar of an engine echoed through the silent parking lot.

Not long after, a red Audi sped to a stop at a frightening speed, just in front of her.

It stopped just in-between her and the—for some unknown reasons—suddenly frightened gangsters.

Alyssa's face paled.

Could this be her doom?

She had not expected they would be more!

Was her decision to come in here wrong?

She has just given herself away to be slaughtered; there was no light at the end of the tunnel for her anymore.

Seconds passed but there was still silence from all sides, every second got her heart speeding rapidly.

And whoever was inside of the very luxurious car, hadn't stepped out yet.

“Hey! Whoever you're, you're getting in our way.” the leader gruffly threw out.

Alyssa didn't miss the crack in his tone though.

Her trembling gaze darted from the men to the car.

However, just immediately after the man's warning, the door to the car opened up, leaving them in suspense.

A towering figure made its appearance.

It turned out to be a man.

The lights coming from the car's headlights didn't let her take a proper look at him.

It shone so bright, she had to squint her eyes to adjust to his form.

“Who the hell are you?” one of the gang members probed with a look of scorn.

Surprisingly, their leader went quiet.

The man didn't immediately give them a reply, he sized them up with a chilly gaze that could pierce one's soul, before mouthing the words, “You don't have to know who I am, all you should be aware of is….this is my territory.”

His calm and collectiveness startled Alyssa.

Was he not scared of offending the rogues?

She was even afraid for his sake.

But to her astonishment, the gang member who was obviously infuriated, wanted to make a retort, but was stopped by a hand on his chest—which belonged to the gang leader.

He shook his head at him, and a look of understanding seemed to flash between them and the latter immediately stepped back.

The gang leader then made a gruff sound. “You better watch your back from now on, Mister, you don't know whose bad side you've gotten on.” he raved with malice in his tone.

“Let's go,” with his eyes still on the man who had ruined their task, the gang leader begrudgingly ordered his men.

Resigning, they all followed him, turning their backs on the duo and leaving the premises as failures.

When they were gone, Alyssa slumped down listlessly to the ground, her breath escaping freely.

Her actions called on his attention, and the man immediately inclined towards her.

The cold look still in his eyes made her shudder.

Alyssa didn't expect him to come to her rescue, but looking at him now…

The man seemed to have noticed that he scared her. His cold features softened a little as he strode away leaving the car door wide open, headed towards Alyssa who was spiraling on the ground weakly.

Alyssa whimpered upon his approach.

“I'm sorry if I scared you, I didn't mean to,”

She was surprised by his gentleness.

Was he not the owner of that dangerous voice just a minute ago? Or that frightening terrifying gaze just now?

She stared nimbly at him with wide eyes that were moist with tears.

Her fear couldn't be masked.

A faint, yet visible smile broke out on the man's lips.

Now that he was in front of her and not blocked by the car's flashy headlights, she could see him properly now, and couldn't deny his charm. But she was still apprehensive.

To her astonishment, he stretched out his hand towards her, his palm bare and offering to help. “What's an innocent girl like you doing out here by this time of the night; at that, being chased too?”

Alyssa perfectly heard the curiosity, but she lowered her head and looked away from him cautiously.

Would he believe her if she said ‘nothing’, and she didn't know who those men were?

Seeing the girl's apprehension, the man surprisingly lowered himself and grabbed her hands instead, making her gasp.

He slowly assisted her in getting up, all the while, Alyssa had her eyes glued to his.

“Come, I'll take you home,” he said, as he let go of her.

“Tell me, where do you live? I'll take you there.” he kindly offered.

Alyssa looked at him cautiously, she kept silent over his kind question.

Seeing this, the smile on the man's face dwindled.

It couldn't be what he was thinking.

“You have a home…right?” his deep voice asked her.

Alyssa found herself speechless, she slowly shook her head sideways instead with her eyes on the ground.

Seconds later, she heard a sigh coming from her savior. And then he said, “Get in,”

“Huh?” baffled, Alyssa sprang her head up to look at him.

“Get in the car,” he repeated once more which got her heart ramming wildly in her chest.

She hesitated with gradual strides.

He then walked ahead of her to open the door of the passenger seat.

Watching his back, the demure expression on Alyssa's face suddenly vanished, replaced by a spine chilling smile, and eyes that held impure intentions.

The once innocent and frightened look in her eyes dispersed along with the cold wind.

Pressing on the side of her left ear, she muttered crudely, “Target spotted, mission successful, boss.”
