Only I Can Kick You Out

The roaring sound of the engine greeted the quiet residence of the great Devon estate.

The car regally made it's entrance while the gate slowly slid to a close behind.

Alyssa's eyes were all over the mighty structure of the magnificent mansion right in front of her eyes.

Her gaze sparkled with awe.

A chuckle from her mysterious savior got her burrying her face with a blush tainting her cheeks.

She was red-handedly caught, admiring the view like she had never seen a mansion this big before. Well, that's the truth, she had never seen a mansion this big before.

The Devons were really living the life.

The man opened his side of the door and seemed to want to step out, but he paused. Looking at her, he asked, “Little girl, what's your name?”

Alyssa did well to mask the grimace her face bore from the way he addressed her.

Regardless she blinked, resurfacing that impeccable look in her eyes. “It's Alyssa, sir.”

“Alyssa…,” he enunciated slowly, as if testing the name for himself.

“Nice name you've got, Alyssa,” he told her with a trace of a smile.

“Thank you,” she shyly lowered her gaze to her fingers.

When he was about getting out of the car, she suddenly stopped him with a hand on his thigh.

“Uhh…I'm sorry about that,” she flung her hand away immediately, apologizing right away as if realizing what she did wrong.

He appeared startled at first but brushed it off as he responded, “It's alright. What's the problem?”

“I don't know your n-name yet, sir,” she muttered lowly. Her fingers dancing between each other.

“I'm Nathan, Nathan Devon,” he divulged, surprised by the way she hastily sprung her head to look up at him.

Alyssa's eyes widened by the revelation.

This is bad, this is awfully bad.

How could this be?...she got the wrong target!

The wheels of her mind already running wild in thought; thinking how and when she had miscalculated, how and when her plan went wrong.

She immediately locked eyes with him, the shock vividly visible.

“What's wrong?” Nathan questioned worriedly. He caught on to her change of expression the moment he revealed his identity.

Scared that she might have flunked her plan, Alyssa gulped hard, the line of her throat working with nervousness. “Y—Young Master Devon?” the anger in her eyes were immediately patched with surprise.

“Yes, I am,”

Upon his confirmation, she gasped, looking worried. “Ahh, I'm sorry for inconveniencing you this way; Oh my God. If I knew it was you, I swear I wouldn't have caused you trouble. I—”

“Shhh, slow down there little one,” he mused with a humourous chuckle.

“No, really…I really am sorry,”

“There's nothing to be sorry for,” Nathan instantly caught her off her non-stop apologies.

Of course he knew why she was being this bothered about being in the same space with him.

He didn't expect her to know of the Devons influence in the world—since like what she had said; she had always been on the streets.

“No, I, I have to repay you somehow, this isn't right, please accept my apology for bringing you trouble.” Alyssa still insisted.

Her dark eyes were shimmering with tears that trickled down.

“It's no big deal. If you want to repay me, you can do so by coming with me,” he spoke with a gentleness that got her calm.

It was then silent between the two of them, before she nodded. “Anything that will make up for the trouble I've caused Young Master Devon,” she muttered with guilt brimming in her eyes.

Nathan smiled at her and immediately got down and opened the door just before she could do it herself.

He saw the protest in her eyes but chose to ignore it.

Alyssa reluctantly stepped out of the car. Her gaze meeting a more clearer sight of the mighty Devon mansion.

Demurely, she turned to him with brows bent worriedly.

“Come,” he told her, passing her by and leading her into the entrance.

It was already 2 Am in the morning and the grand living room was void of any being.

Alyssa reluctantly trailed behind him, her eyes darting from corner to corner like a scared little mouse.

The lights were switched off, thus making her apprehensive.

All of a sudden, they were switched on, making her nearly jump in fright.

She came to realize that it was Nathan's doing.

Only then did her mind relax.

The grandeur of the interior made her jaw drop. It was extremely lavish and extravagant.

Even her boss's house wasn't this luxurious.

Alyssa bit the side of her cheek when she realized that she had disrespected her master.

The pain brought her back to reality.

“Follow me, I'll have someone take care of you,” he told her.

“Young Master Devon,” she reluctantly called out.

“Hmm,” he hummed in response while leading the way up the series of stairs.

Each step producing an echoe.

“Do you live here alone?” she questioned out of mere curiousity.

Alyssa reckoned he smiled before answering her, “No,” he said. “we're one big family in here,” he responded, not minding how loud his voice resonated.

“Oh,” Alyssa simply replied.

“You sound disappointed,” his sudden statement surprised her.

“Huh?” she probed for elaboration.

“Did you want me to live alone, so it'll be only us together?”

Hearing his introspection, Alyssa fretted.

“No, no, Young Master, don't get me wrong, I just…I just don't want to cause more trouble for you; your family might not…you know,” she tried to explain, her voice lowering by every word forward.

Nathan paused.

They were already at the lobby on the second floor.

He swerved to look at her.

A serious demeanor suddenly replaced his gentle one.

“My family is one of a kind, they are strange…” there was an underlying meaning to his statement. “but ignore them. You're not allowed to follow orders from anyone except me, and no one is allowed to bully you except from me,” he paused looking at her strangely.

His weird gaze made her feel anxious and nervous for some reasons she couldn't understand, but all she wanted right now was to shelter herself away from those piercing gaze that bore right into her, causing her breath to cease unceremoniously.

A chilly smile slittered against his thin lips, “I brought you here, only I can kick you out,”
