No Doubting His Identity

Dawn finally arrived with an unfamiliar knock on the door.

Immediately it echoed through once, Alyssa's eyes shot open in alarm.

It's an habit she had grown used to through out her entire life; to always be on guard.

Releasing a sigh, she stood from the soft fluffy, pink bed that she was feeling repulsed by, and sauntered towards the door to attend to whoever was at the other end.

A loud yawn escaped her lips from the dire fatigue she was suffering from.

The whole night, she couldn't get a wink of sleep until six in the morning.

Thus, her tiredness today.

It turned out to be a maid—the maid who had fixed her last night.

“Good morning,” Alyssa hastily greeted first. Her good girl facade in display once more.

“Morning, miss,” the helper responded politely.

“I've come to see if you need anything?”

“Oh, I'm fine, thank you,” a genuine grin spread across her cheeks.

“Okay, that's fine.” the maid said. “I'll come back in a while to call you for breakfast,”

“Thank you,” Alyssa replied, closing the door right after the maid had left.

A sigh fled her lips, resonating in the silent room.

Alyssa raked a hand through her thick dark hair.

Her eyes having a dazed look within them.

This mission of hers, is it likely to be successful?

She had never gone on this kind of mission through out her nineteen years of life.

In fact, this was a suicide mission on its own. Rather, she's used to doing the killing, leaving no trace behind.

The Devons may seem amicable and be the most enviable elite family in country M, but no one knew what dirty doings they had going on underneath the table.

She didn't know what conflict her organization had with theirs, but all she knew was that she's just following the big boss's instructions.

“Infiltrate into the Devons family. I want every insiders information you can gather about them.” these were the exact words that were delivered to her.

Of course an assassin like her wasn't oblivious to the real deal of this pretentious family.

The dangerous and ruthless Shadow organization was under their control. It was no secret in the underground world.

Yet she…just because of her ernest desire, she had half-heartedly accepted this mission.

Her main aim was to trap the eldest Young Master—who has now become the Master of the Devons, into her web—her assassin name was spider for a reason.

Yet, she had miscalculated things and ended up trapping the wrong heir. The youngest Master of the Devons.

The two brothers were renownedly known in underground world for their ruthlessness and cruelty.

Though compared to the leader, Nathan held his own ground too in their organization; Thus her plan wasn't entirely a failure.

As Alyssa strutted into the bathroom, her mind became relaxed by the cold water that drizzled down her skin.

The real deal hadn't even begun, but she's feeling exhausted.

She couldn't help but wonder how this is going to turn out at the end.

But one thing she knew for sure—she's going to accomplish this mission, she had never failed one, and this won't be her first.

Her bath was quick and she made it out right before the maid could come and remind her for breakfast.

Seeing it was taking time, a thought crossed her mind.

‘To know an enemy, you have to understand his base.’

Taking the risk, Alyssa sprang up from her mattress with a dripping hair.

Just before she stepped out of the room, she halted by the door, her gaze travelled to the side where the hair dryer sat atop a table, it's cable connected to a socket.

Alyssa retreated towards it, taking a pin-like object from her jeans, she pierced it into the cable which produced a light spark. However, the hair dryer looked unaffected.

Satisfied, Alyssa cautiously left her bedroom, taking careful steps along the lobby.

She inwardly thanked her stars that no one was seen along the area.

To her her surprise, only five rooms were on the floor she was in, together with her room.

‘This floor must contain all the guest rooms,’ she thought.

Another flight of stairs caught her sight, leading to the next floor upwards.

Deciding to move along, Alyssa hurriedly ascended the stair case.

The structure up here looked entirely different from the one in the previous floor.

In fact, it contained only four rooms and the doors were totally different from the rest she had seen earlier. These particular ones contained digital locks.

Her brows scrunched up.

But it was quick to relax when she remembered that they were not an ordinary family. Of course, top security is required in all aspects.

And as a high assassin, she recognized this locks without having to look at them twice.

Not wanting to waste time there, Alyssa immediately headed for the third floor upstairs.

Her steps cautious, and her senses heightened in alert.

If the second floor was filled with massive protection, then she didn't what to say about this one.

From the ceilings, Alyssa could spot the laser panel installed secretly.

If one was not sightful enough, they wouldn't even notice what danger lies in front.

That's when it clicked, Alyssa realized that they could be cameras installed in the mansion.

And her movement would surely be captured.

“How did I let that skip my mind?” she mused to herself, grimacing at her witlessness.

Brushing that off, she further scrutinized her surrounding.

Just like the previous floors, this one too had a balcony at a farther end. But weirdly, it only had two rooms, and they were indirectly facing each other.

From a single sweeping glance around, Alyssa was certain going further would be a dead trap for her—she needed no one to tell her.

Already, she had committed a mistake of not being mindful of the cameras that might be watching her right now.

Registering enough, she exhaled audibly with her shoulders slumped. An expression of disappointment coated her face, and then she spun around to discretely head back to her room.

Unfortunately for her, her heightened senses had not caught up on the stealth footsteps that spoke her doom with every fall it landed…until she bumped right into a hard wall-like object.

Scrunching her nose and rubbing on it, “Ouch,” Alyssa wallowed while pulling away.

Her eyes first greeted the rare sight of a perfectly manly chest.

With heart pounding, Alyssa slowly dragged her gaze upwards; to be shakened by icy grey eyes that made shivers dance down her spine.

There was no doubting his identity.

Her eyes widened without a grasp on her control.
