After causing an uproar yesterday all over the internet, I wanted to reward myself today.

So I asked Black to take me shopping right after Carmelo left for work. Last night, he brought me a bouquet of red roses and told me about the news of Antonio’s doom. Not knowing I was the one who detonated the bomb, and that I was just getting started. Thanks to him I had connections with all the bad guys all over Italy. If I couldn’t kill him in flesh, then I would snatch everything that he had. Just like how he did it to me.

“Where should we start, Ma’am?” asked Black, pulling over at the narrow parking spot he’d found. “Anywhere I could get skin care products. Oh, and nails. I want to get my nails done.” I said, smiling as I texted Carmelo my whereabouts. It has become a ritual to update him on everything I did throughout the day until he returned home.

At first, I was getting annoyed by it. But as days went on… it didn’t feel bad to have one person who cared so much about you an

~82~ChiaraThe helicopter landed in about thirty minutes, right at the skyscraper’s helipad where my gallery was located. Black held the door for me, and I stepped down, cursing the hair for getting into my mouth. Chong was already waiting for me with his blue suit and his signature round eyeglasses, with an IPad pressed to his chest. Black and four other men were behind me, all in black suits. I had to quarrel my way out of having six bodyguards as Melo wanted. They were five in total and I’d already felt suffocated let alone six of them.“Good morning, Madam. I see you have officially become a boss lady.” He blurted as we headed inside, smiling. He had no idea. “I was made for greater things.” I teased back, putting my phone back in my bag. “I couldn’t agree less.” I sighed, when I was reminded of the number of people contaminating my air behind me. “Brief me, Chong, before I kick you down these stairs.” He quickly flipped his IPad. I would never admit this to him but, I missed him

  • Tangled by lies    I'm not leaving you

~81~ChiaraHe rubbed my back with one hand and caressed my hair with the other. His hot breath fanned my forehead. “How about your trip?” He said after a while.“I cancelled it.”“But you have to go. They will look after me.”“And leave you like this? Have you seen your face? You look like a low budget zombie.”His chest rumbled as he snorted weakly. “I’ll be fine, tesoro.”“I’m not leaving you. I want to remain with you. I’ll leave tomorrow.”He was quiet for a short while before saying with a grin, “Okay.”Then silence came. Followed by his peaceful breath. He dozed off again. So I shut my eyes as well.It felt weird. My hand searched around but his end of the bed was empty. My eyes shot open and sat up abruptly. I went downstairs. Hands balled into fists when I heard the tapping coming from his study. I was going to kill him!I pushed the door open and found him sitting on his desk. In the darkness and the only light in the room was coming from his monitor. I switched on the ligh

  • Tangled by lies    Horrified

~80~ChiaraI spent almost the entire night parking my things and making arrangements with Chong for my arrival today. I went to freshen up and then went to the kitchen, my eyes searching for any sign of the man. The waft smell of bread hit my nose, “Marina,” she looked up at me, taking bread from the tray and arranging it on a bread basket.“Good morning, Ma’am.” She beamed at me. “Morning. Have you seen your boss?” She shook her head, “He still hasn’t come down yet.” Which was weird because he was an early bird. He should’ve been down by now or knocking at my door until I agreed to have breakfast with him. If he were in his study then I wouldn’t have worried like this. Something was wrong. “Okay.”I went back upstairs and stopped by his door. This was the first time ever to attempt this even after having been in his room before. My heart drummed at the thought. I raised a hand and knocked but it went silent. I knocked again and again, silent. I frowned and grabbed the handle. It was

  • Tangled by lies    Wild woman

~79~CarmeloIn business there were white days and black days, but lately for me… it seemed like the black cloud refused to leave me. I was yet again coming back from a failed investment meeting. However this time around it was at Conti Casa Reale. Same paint quality problems. I’d been working with them since forever but now their paintings lacked standard and quality. It didn’t last even six months and it would begin to peel or get scrappy. All in all, the investment was a big failure now. And my PR team and theirs were trying their best to hide the news to the media. I could only imagine the horror of the clients that we had already signed contracts with to construct their homes. They placed their trust on us and we were failing them.I went to speak to the company CEO again today, but he kept repeating the same words. ‘Give us some time while we’re fixing the problem.’ However time wasn’t locked in our pockets and my clients would soon start to question the delay. The reputation o

  • Tangled by lies    Sick family

~78~Chiara“Yeah, that’s not it. And this one is cheugy, this too, mh-mh. Please get me something that’s giving.” Celia dismissed several dresses before she even tried them on.Okay, I thought I was a shopping animal. That was until I witnessed how Celia Conti was spending her brother’s money like a river today. I’d like to think it was a payback but no, she was experienced. Hence melted my heart as we hopped from one shop to another, abusing the black cards in our possession. She might be younger than me but our tastes weren’t that far from each other. In fact she had her own sense of style in fashion and I adored that. For some youngsters it took some time for them to figure out their style.“I’ll take this, this, and this, oh and please wrap that mini bag for me, the black one,” she sauntered to the heels section. The few people who were let inside the shop gawked at her. “Yes, Ma’am,” the shop attendant had a hard time following her around with all the things occupying her hands

  • Tangled by lies    Wooing me

~77~ChiaraYesterday was a nightmare. I always couldn’t sleep because my demons wouldn’t let me but last night, something else chewed my mind up. I’d say I was dreaming and it never happened because it was just for a quick second. But the way he looked at me, I didn’t need a translator to know what he was thinking about. I was thirty for God’s sake. And I still felt like a teenager at that moment, shying before my first crush. Bullshit. He was always reserved, never showing me that side of him. And maybe that was why I couldn’t get the image out of my mind. What started as an innocent curiosity of wanting to see him baking turned into a thirst trap and fucking mess in a blink of an eye. We ended up sitting down, leaning by the kitchen wall, laughing at ourselves and the scattered cookies. I then helped treat his burn with a first aid kit he showed me to get in one of the many kitchen cupboards. For what’s worth, the cookies were delicious even though they were too sweet, too bad mos
