Chapter 2: After life?

[KIMBERLY]

All I could hear were loud roaring, hoofing, screaming, slashes from sword, bombing sounds, breaking branches. My hands were over my ears, closing them tightly with my closed eyes. I was scared and in between trances, neither did I know what was happening before me.

"Kim! Kim! Kim!" I turned sideways and immediately, I saw a woman transformed from a giant wolf into a human being, my mouth wide open uttering no word.

"What?" my thoughts wandered in confusion, as a matured man and woman hurried over to me.

Then I realized that I was hiding beside a broken thatch hut, and I was in the middle of a bloody war.

"Kim, are you alright?" the beautiful woman asked with her eyes anxiously looking all over my body, gray hair slightly taking over her black long hair.

"Ye... yes?", I shook my head sheepishly, without knowing if I was okay or not.

"You need to run, you need to run, go very far away. Away from here!" the man urged me.

"Don't trust anyone, leave here! Never come back unless you become stronger!" the woman said insistently.

They were almost about caring but I shed no emotion for them as I was lost between thoughts.

"You don't know us because we disappointed you. We dumped you in the past for you to avoid this fight" the man explained rashly with concern pervading through his voice.

"We are your parents but we failed you. We had no choice but to chase you away to prevent you from this fight" he added.

"But it seems this war can't be prevented. You need to grow, learn and fight!" tears rolled down from her eyes, she said through her sniffles.

"Avenge your parents, sweetheart! Don't let us down" they were so engrossed in me that they did not realize when someone slash them with a sharp sword at their back.

They stared at me, sorrowfully as they fell to the ground.

I began to shake terribly, in pain, confused, lost, hurt.

"No!" Then, I jumped up from the bed.

The wooden strong bed, precisely.

"What?" I touched myself with my eyes rolling around the room.

"Where am I?" I saw myself in a shady hut that had only a small white candle giving it light.

"But..." I pinched myself again and again, because this whole troll feels like a dream, yet I remained in the same location.

"Run, run" again, some voices echoed in my head. The voice was familiar with that from my dream.

I could not figure out where I was, who I was, what I was  doing here, how the wolves of a spirit became my parents when I was an orphan. I sprang up from the bed and began to ache all over. It's obvious that I must have been sleeping for a very long time. My body was covered with injuries that have not been treated, I guess bacteria must have begun to feast on them.

I rushed out of the hut, and saw light. I saw light again. The sun flashed on my skin and I felt somewhat comfortable.

When my eyes lowered away from the sky, I found myself in the thick forest and only at that minute. I begin to hear howling from a distance, do wolves truly exist?

"Run, run." the voice echoed again and I felt a certain push, and at that moment I started running like one whose house is on fire into the dangerous dark bush.

I don't know what was chasing me, I also did not wait for the figure to catch up with me. I ran speedily even when my legs became weak.

"Argh!" I screamed loudly in pain soon after I fell on the dirty damp ground holding stagnant water and tough grasses, my leg tangled with some branches.

"You will be fine, Kim",

"Get her",

Trail of memories drifted back into my head as I saw someone exactly like me working in a top club in the city. I had a friend and one worst boss.

"How am I here?" I shook my head as if I was trying to reset everything so I can fully understand the status quo.

Is this my afterlife? But hell wasn't predicted to be this way nor did I ever treat anyone wrongly in my past life.

"Get her! Find her!", this time it was reality. I heard the vivid voice yelling at some others. They were not so far from me.

"No, not again" I rushed into the bushes, in search of a place to hide until they were totally gone.

I stumbled onto rocks, thick laying roots and branches and I still get up and surged forward. I won't settle for less.

"I don't care if this is a dream, afterlife or past life. I must scale through" I encouraged myself, breathing heavily.

I was gasping for air, I would faint any moment from now. My chasers were not tired, it seemed like a compulsory task to catch me.

"What did I do? What have I done? What crime did my ancestors commit?" I pondered with my pale eyes and dried lips seeking a hideout.

At this moment, what I craved was water to drink and a place to lie peacefully. Maybe death is the only choice.

"Here is her foot print, she must be close. Chase!" the voice gingered the running men.

I started hearing anxious howling, thunderous running feet(s). My heart skipped in fear.

"Is this my death day?" I swallowed hard and continued running.

Fortunately, I found a mangrove tree and I hurried into the big branch. I leaned closer into the tree trying my best to hide every part of my body even if it didn't fit into the tree.

I breathe out heavily in relief that I have finally found a safe place and also in fatigue.

"She is here" my peace got disrupted.

The huge masculine figure stood in front of me, holding a stern grin. My eyes rolled all over his body down to his arm and then again, I locked gaze with a familiar tattoo resting on his arm.

"This..." again, my statement hung in the air as my vision became bleak.
