Mila’s POV

Tears trickled down my cheeks the second I turned my back on them. My heart was pounding in my chest, half-expecting Axel to come running after me, to grab my arm and say something—anything—to fix the mess in my head. I wanted him to run up to me and tell me he was sorry, tell me he didn’t mean to do what he did. And swear he would never do it…

I couldn't help myself. I glanced over my shoulder.

He wasn't following me. He was trailing right behind Tiffany

  • Tempting The Twins   Mila is mine

Axel’s POVMr. Harrison was up front yapping on and on about some literary elements in a popular movie. I had drowned out his voice moments ago. I wasn't listening to a single word.Tiffany wasn't here. After she shoved Alice into the lockers and stormed off, I went after her, but I couldn’t find her—she must have ditched class entirely. Which meant she was mad-mad, nothing like I was used to, and yet it didn’t bother me. Not nearly as much as it should have.My eyes drifted across the room, landing straight on the back of Mila’s head. She hadn’t looked at me since I walked in. Not even a quick glance. I knew because all I had been doing was gawking at her. She sat upright in her seat, staring intently at her open notebook like her life depended on it. I hated how quiet she was being. I hated that when she turned her back on me in the hallway earlier, her voice had cracked, her eyes wet with tears right before she ran off. My chest tightened just

I wanted him to run up to me and tell me he was sorry, tell me he didn’t mean to do what he did. And swear he would never do it…I couldn't help myself. I glanced over my shoulder. He wasn't following me. He was trailing right behind Tiffany, his hand in hers as she pulled him down the hall. He had chosen her of course, what was I thinking?I sniffled as I stood there staring at them, feeling my heart break in two. I wiped the tears from my face with the back of my hand, swallowed the lump in my throat, and hurried straight into AP English.Paris and Princess were already sitting at our usual seats."Oh my God, baby, what happened?" Paris asked, leaning across his desk. "Who hurt my girl?" he leaned in to

  • Tempting The Twins   Me or her?

Axel’s POVI just stood there, rigid as stone, watching Mila completely unravel right in front of me.We literally never talked at school. Never. Yet here she was, in the middle of the hallway, right in front of Tiffany’s face, screaming at me like I belonged to her. Tiffany was still holding on to my arm, but I couldn't even feel her presence anymore. All I could focus on was Mila. The way her bright blue eyes shone with pure rage, the flush creeping up her neck. The nerve of her to walk up to me and yell in my face—I couldn’t lie, it was hot. It was hot as hell. My lips almost curled into a smirk at the thought that she had loved the gifts. She wanted them. She was actually going to say thank you to me, until…Her voice cracked, and she blinked repeatedly. “You hurt me," she sniffled, her chest heaving. "On my own birthday... that was so cruel."She turned on her heel and started walking away, her shoulders shaking as she wiped at her eyes with

  • Tempting The Twins   Why? What?

Mila’s POVI jerked hard, pulling away from Aaron so fast I almost tripped. My heart was pounding in my chest.I turned quickly toward the direction of the noise, straining my ears to listen, but the hallway above was dead silent and completely dark. Nobody was standing there."Mila—" Aaron started, reaching out a hand toward me."No," I whispered, backing away from him until the back of my knees hit the table. "No, Aaron, we can't... anyone could come down those stairs. Carol, my dad, Axel... anyone."I didn't wait for him to answer. I grabbed my purse and practically sprinted up the stairs as quickly and quietly as I could. I hurried down the dark hallway, slipped into my bedroom, and shut the door behind me, leaning my back against the wood while trying to catch my breath.I reached out blindly and flipped the light switch. The moment the light came on, my jaw dropped. My bedroom was a mess. The gifts I had f

  • Tempting The Twins   The boy in the dark.

Mila’s POVCarol walked over to the front door and pulled it open.Liam was standing on the porch, wearing a dark button-down shirt with the top few buttons undone. The moment his eyes landed on me, his jaw dropped. He stood there for a second, not uttering a word."Wow," he breathed out, shaking his head. "Mila... you look incredible.""Thank you," I said, feeling my cheeks heat up.He glanced over my shoulder, noticing Aaron standing behind me, and gave him a friendly wave. Aaron just stared back at him with an icy glare, keeping his hands firmly planted at his sides without giving so much as a nod.Liam didn't seem to notice the tension. Instead, his gaze shifted to Carol, a charming smile on his face. "And you must be Mila’s older sister. I was wondering where she got those good looks."Carol let out a delighted gasp, crossing her arms over her chest, her cheeks slowly turning red. "Oh, you sweet talker! You do know

  • Tempting The Twins   Date Night.

Mila’s POVGift he is about to give me? What did he mean by that?As if he heard my questions, he clarified, ““I’m yet to give you your gift. But listen here, you’d love it.”I smiled at him. “Oh, really?” I asked in a calm voice, even though my mind was spinning out of control. If Liam didn't put those gifts in my locker, then who did?My mind raced. Could it be Aaron? But he’d already given me the charm bracelet at breakfast, so that didn't make sense. Axel was the only other person, but the thought was almost laughable. He couldn't even bring himself to say a simple happy birthday to my face this morning. Why on earth would he go through the trouble of stuffing my locker with red roses, expensive skincare, and tickets to a movie I had only ever mentioned in passing in his presence?"Anyway," Liam said, cutting through my spiraling thoughts as he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a sleek, printed voucher. "My actual gift is
