Behind A Facade

Xavier's POV.

With my attention divided between Madelyn and the road, it was hard to focus on driving. I wanted to know who her kid referred to as daddy. I wanted to know if the man I thought was behind this was actually the one.

“ You know it's been approximately two minutes since I asked you a very crucial and important question, Madelyn. Are you going to answer the goddamn question or do I force it out of you?”

Hands visibly shaking, face pale in less than a minute, lines of worry scribbled on her once beautiful face and a heart that beats faster. I have never seen her this scared or worried about nothing in the six years I have been with her.

“ Madelyn..”

I had stopped over. Couldn't risk us having an accident because I was trying to keep my eyes on the road and at the same time, trying to keep them on the young lady who had gone mute the moment Valerie said what she said.

“ They.. my kids..” and she went blank
