ILYANA’S POV

I was outside of the pack house, ready to leave with both Misha and Tina, when we saw someone running towards us, yelling for us to wait.

“Is that the beta?” Tina was the first to notice.

I squinted, trying to see clearly, and recognized Carius running towards us. He was panting heavily by the time he reached us, stopping right in front of me.

“My lady…” he said between breaths, “the alpha has requested your presence.”

“Ooooohhhh,” Misha teased, eying me suspiciously.

“Why would he

ILYANA’S POV“Wha…what do…you want?” I stuttered, staggering backward, trying to put distance between us.His white hair flowed down his back, unnaturally smooth, his face even paler than the last time I had seen him. His fangs peeked out as he slowly licked his lips, his red eyes gleaming with something darker, something more intense than before. I didn’t know much about vampires, only the little Atasha had told me after the last time, but I could tell this much—He was hungry.Hungry for blood. And the only blood in this room was mine.He stepped closer, unhurried, certain, like he already owned the space between us. “You,” he said without missing a beat, his voice low and sure. “I want you.”He twirled a lock of his hair around his fingers, his tone smooth, almost indulgent, like he was savoring the thought before even touching it. “Ever since I tasted your blood the last time, I haven’t been able to feed on anything else. Nothing satisfies. Nothing compares.” His gaze dragged slow

  • The 7-time rejected omega   CHAPTER 40

ILYANA’S POV.I chased after him for some minutes, but he was too fast, and now I was scared. I was stranded in the woods, with no idea how to get back to the pack, but that was not even my main concern. What unsettled me the most was what had happened to Kael and why he had left like that. One minute, everything had been fine. Perfect, even. And the next, he had run away from me like I was something filthy, something he could not bear to touch. The sun was already setting, and a terrifying chill slowly crept through my body. It had started small, barely noticeable, but now it spread everywhere, sinking into my bones. Every part of me felt tense, alert, and afraid. The woods seemed to close in on me, the sounds of crickets and distant birds echoing too loudly, too close, like they were watching me.I had taken three different paths, each one somehow leading me back to the same tall baobab tree.I turned again, choosing another direction, desperate to find my way back to the pack, when

KAEL’S POV.“What you wanted to show me is this? A stream?” Ilyana asked, scoffing lightly as she slowly walked to the edge and looked down.We were deep in the forest, standing on a rock that dropped into a stream below, only reachable by jumping. Ilyana was different now, and my wolf gnawed restlessly inside of me. She spoke more freely now, met my gaze without hesitation, even hissed at me in the car earlier, and I found myself wanting more of it, more of her in ways I shouldn’t.“It’s not just any stream. It’s a safe haven,” I replied, watching as she rolled her eyes, and I realized I could drown just watching her do that.“Do you know how to swim?”“Swim?” Her eyes widened as she turned to me, disbelief flashing across her face. “Like in that water?”“Of course in the water,” I chuckled before rolling my eyes. “Just jump in, don’t worry.”Her eyes widened further, shock turning almost frantic as she tried to process my words. “What do you mean—”Before she could finish, I pushed

ILYANA’S POVKael led me out of the packhouse, the firmness and warmth of his hand sending warm, sparkling sensations throughout my body. I don’t think he realized he was holding my hand. The minute I nodded and agreed to come with him, his hand had shot out, wrapping around mine, leading me all the way out of the packhouse, rounding the entire building, stalking through a gate I had never seen and didn’t even know existed until now.Two guards opened the door, bowing as maids scurried out of the way for us, muttering greetings under their breaths. We kept walking until we arrived at another entrance, a smaller gate this time. Something fresh and new hit my nose, soft and unfamiliar, and I glanced around to see where it was coming from when Kael’s hand suddenly left mine.I felt the absence instantly. It was sharp and immediate, making me feel like I just lost something. He pushed the smaller gate open, and my breath stilled at the sight in front of me. I could not move. I could not

ILYANA.“Your highness….”The minute I said it, Selene shot up from where she had collapsed, her voice rising sharply as though she had just been handed the perfect opportunity.“Your highness, thank goddess you’re here,” she hissed out, breathless and urgent. She quickly smoothed down her dress, her hands moving over the fabric in a rushed attempt to regain composure before pointing directly at me, her head darting between me and the alpha king.“This omega disrespected me. I’m not sure you saw everything, but she pushed me to the floor!”She turned fully to Kael, and just like that, her tone shifted. The sharpness melted away, replaced with something softer, controlled, almost pleading.“I want you to punish her for me. I’m Alpha Theo’s mate, Luna of his pack. On behalf of the pack, please punish her.”I said nothing. I didn’t bother pointing out the sudden change in her voice, how easily she slipped from venom to sweetness depending on who she was speaking to.She stepped closer to

ILYANA.After that, I left the room. The alpha king had more things to discuss and wanted me to stay but I didn’t want to. I didn’t want to be in the same room with all my past mates, their judgy eyes fixated on me. Something unfamiliar wrapped around my chest as I left. My mind reeling from the incident in the room, replaying every single word—and how much I would love to be that confident one day.I was confident yesterday in front of the alpha king, but that was nothing much. I was confident with Lucienne, and many more but none of that was enough. They were only small times and I wished for more bravery. To be confident and so sure of myself every time of the day and in every single moment. Just like Atasha, or Misha, or even Kael.I had just rounded the corner to my room when I heard my name being called by someone I hoped it was not.“Illy! Illy, is that you?” Selene called out, her footsteps echoing through the hallway.I turned back to see her haughty smile, her face pancaked
