CHAPTER 3:THE BOSS

I was laying on my back with my phone to my ear as I chatted to Claire. It's been 2 weeks since I've seen her and that was a record for us. I miss her! I miss our chats!

But the two weeks that I've spent in LA have been pretty okay. I've spent most of it indoors except for my walks with Max. But I feel safe in Zachary's home. I like it here.

"How are you doing?"Claire asked."I worry about you being alone all the time,it's not good for you."

I clicked my tongue off the roof of my mouth."I'm okay, don't worry. I have Max for company."

"A Dog is not company,Milly. It's not as if you can have a conversation with him."

"I chuckled."A dog doesn't argue with me,he's exactly what I need. I feel safe here-In this house. When I'm outside it's a different story."

"That's understandable,Hon. You're going to feel out of sorts for awhile and that's perfectly normal. Healing takes time!"She always knows just how to cheer me up.

I sat up in bed,tucking my blonde hair behind my ear."Do you think that he's alive?"It's a question that's been on my mind constantly since that night.

I wanted to know!!

I wasn't sure what answer I wanted. If Liam's dead then that means that I'm a Murderer. If he's alive then I know he's going to do everything in his power to find me.

"I don't know."Claire sighed."It's been two weeks since. I hate to say it but I'm sure we would have heard something by now if he was dead."

I guess she's right. Surely she would of seen it on the paper or something."I worry about you,Claire. Liam knows where you live,I'm worried about him trying something."

She sighed."Don't you worry about me, You don't need to. I know how to take care of myself, and my building has security so Liam is getting nowhere near."

I'd hate if anything happened to her because of me-Because of a man that I got involved with.I wouldn't put it past Liam to hurt her if he was desperate enough.

I heard the front doorbell ring from downstairs and my heart jumped into my throat,even Max did a jump from the bed. No one has called by in the two weeks that I've been here.

Automatically I thought of Liam!!

"Someone is at the door."I stood from my bed and walked out of my room with Max following behind me.

"Who is it?"Claire asked.

"I don't know. Maybe it's Liam coming  for me."I joked,but of course it could be a possibility. I was nervous so I was trying to do my best and lighten the mood.

"I'm sure he wouldn't just knock on the front door."

I walked into Zachary's room that was dark,but from what I could see it was just as fancy as the rest of the house.I crossed his bedroom and had a sneaky look out his front window."It's okay, It's just Michelle!"I walked out of the room,breathing a sigh of relief.

"Well isn't that great. Now you have some company other than that dog." She chuckled."Michelle mentioned that she was going to call over,It must have slipped my mind."

I walked down the stairs with Max by my side."I should go. Call you in a few days?"

"Sure,Have Fun!! Bye,Hon!"Claire hung up the phone and I quickly made my way to the front door. I'm sure Michelle is getting tired of waiting at this stage.

"Well about time,I was starting to lose hope."She held the bottle of wine out towards me and smiled."It's Party Time! Can I come in?"

"Sure."I opened the door wider for her to come in. I followed Michelle towards the kitchen."So it's Party Time?"

"Exactly. After this drink you and I are  going out."Michelle removed some wine glasses from the cupboard and set them down on the worktop."You should get changed first."

I have literally two sets of clothes that I came here with and they're both casual."I can't go out. I'm not even kidding you when I say that I don't have anything to wear."

"That's okay,Doll! I brought some with me,I'll grab them from my car after this drink."Michelle took the bottle from my hand and filled two glasses. She clinked hers off mine."Ching Ching!!"

It wasn't long before Michelle and I were making our way through the over crowded nightclub,towards the bar area. The light were flashing and the music was loud,already bringing on a headache.

I'll stay an hour or so-We'll see!

Being out in a crowd was making me feel anxious already and I couldn't stop thinking about Liam. If he was in this club I wouldn't even know it.I could feel my heart race just thinking about it.

"Two white wines please!"Michelle shouted,over the bar to the barman.She turned around and grinned at me."So-You see anyone you like?"

"I wasn't looking."I'm sure it looked like I was,but really I was trying to be smart and keep my eyes peeled just incase Liam did find me after all.

"You should be looking,there's some nice looking men here."She glanced at me sideways,and chuckled."I might be Gay,Hon. But I can appreciate a good looking man."

"Trust me,I'll never change my mind about dating."I turned around and picked up my wine glass just as the batman set it down. If Michelle knew my reasons,she would understand why I don't date.

I won't make the same mistake twice.

FLASHBACK

Liam was holding my hand in his as he guided me through the crowded nightclub towards the bar. I was here to meet his friends,but I think he figured out 5 minutes in that I wasn't much of a party girl.

I didn't mind coming out though,I just wanted to make the effort for him. I wanted to make him happy.

We stopped at the bar and he looked at me with a grin on his face. Of course having his eyes on me was making me blush,like always."Let's go back to my place,Em."

"Really? I don't mind staying,I'm having Fun!"I was lying of course and he caught on to that straight away. "Okay,I'm not. But it has nothing to do with your friends,nightclubs just aren't my scene."

"Me neither-Not anymore."He took my hand in his again."Let's get out of here,Babe. I want to have you all to myself."

It's been three weeks of having this amazing man in my life and I was feeling lucky. To have someone care about me the way he did was exactly what I was missing. I looked at him and smiled."I Love You!!"

Crap I said that out loud.

Immediately after saying it I regretted it,Not because I didn't mean it but because I was worried that saying it now was too soon. We haven't even slept together yet.

"Oh,God!!"I groaned."It's too soon,I'm such an idiot! Just pretend that I didn't say anything."I looked away totally red-faced and embarrassed. I can't believe that I just did that.

Liam pulled me close to him and turned my face around so that I was looking at him."Do you mean it?"He asked me,and I nodded my head in reply because I was too scared to use words."I love you too,Em."

END OF FLASHBACK

I walked in the door after a night out with Michelle. Surprisingly I actually had a good night,despite the fact that I remained sober. I was glad to be back into quietness.

"Max.."I kneeled down in front of him and rubbed his golden coat. But the short black dress that I was wearing was riding up and making me uncomfortable."Time to get out of this dress."

I walked towards the stairs and Max followed behind me. I rounded the corner towards my bedroom unzipping my dress along the way, when suddenly a very naked man walked out of the bathroom dripping wet.

We both got a fright upon seeing each other.

"Who the hell are you?"He shouted. He held the knot on his towel that was covering him from the waist down.

I'm guessing he's Michelle's Boss.

I held my dress against my body feeling nervous to be around a man again."I'm Emi-I mean I'm Kate. Just Kate!"
