Dorian’s POV

The moment I heard a man’s voice from inside, my heart began to pound painfully in my chest.

That must be Candice’s husband… I swallowed hard, my throat suddenly dry.

Countless thoughts raced through my head.

Should I leave the toys and gifts here at the door and walk away? Or should I stay… and finally see her face, see the kids?

My legs felt glued to the ground.

What will Candice say if she sees me here? Will she slam the door in my face? Will she hate me even more?

The door opened, and a young man stood in the doorway. He wasn’t anyone I recognized. His brows furrowed as he looked at me.

“Excuse me, who are you looking for?” he asked.

I opened my mouth, about to speak, but before I could even answer him, a voice came from inside.

“Jace, who’s at the door?”

My entire body froze, then my heart picked up.

Candice soft, familiar voice made my palms sweat.
