ALPHA RYAN POV

The incessant beeping wore on my nerves. I was becoming accustomed to awakening annoyed. This time, I immediately recognized the beeping as coming from my hospital machines. I remembered everything that had led me to that point, and the most recent was confessing to Councilman Hartt that the others and I had murdered Carissa Carter.

As I lay there, strapped down as though I were some violent criminal, I reflected on the events in vivid detail, and everything continued to come back to one person.

CARISSA POV“When Alek’s mother grew ill and died, the family began to crumble. Gypsy’s are powered greatest by the strength of the matriarch, and now that LuLu had passed, the females were no more. One by one, each of the six brothers died in horribly tragic deaths. Cursed deaths. Losing his mate, Alek’s father, Gerald, could not go on. But Alek wanted his family's souls to rest, so he called upon the demon that cursed them and struck a new deal. This deal abolished the curse over the deceased souls, allowing his father to live peacefully in his final days. The demon agreed but gave Alek an impossible task. Any wolf would not have been able to complete such a horrible task unscathed, and the demon knew this, which was why it was given as payment.”“I don’t understand. What was the curse, and what was the impossible task?” I adjusted to be more comfortable as I leaned forward to listen uninterrupted.“Th

CARISSA POVThere was a soft humming, calling out for me to open my eyes. Despite its gentleness, it was impossible to ignore. The melody stimulated my senses, sparking me to life. I felt it, like a curfew flowing through me.The light was blinding, and I had to raise my hand to shield my eyes. It was an unnaturally bright light before me, but it also had a calming tranquillity. You wanted to follow further into its brilliance. So that is what I did.The soft, angelic humming continued to fill my senses, and I found myself smiling and humming along with it. I wanted to see the source of this euphoric pull.“Hello, my dear Carissa.” A calming voice sang out.“Who’s there?” I called out in confusion. It was met with the softest chuckle.“Silly girl, you spend a few weeks with my sister, and now I am long forgotten. Just typ

NARRATIVE POV"I, Carissa Carter-Winslow, hereby condemn Ryan Davis, Alpha of Trinity Falls Pack, to death by his own choice. I take control of the Trinity Falls territory but do not claim it as my own. Before the pack, council and the Goddess as witness, I relinquish ownership to the Alpha of BlackFoot Rogues to do with as they deem fair." She didn’t see the pride and light fill Thorin's eyes when he heard her acknowledge her birth name. She publicly accepted both her father's surnames. The sky darkens, and rain begins to pour at her declaration to the skies above—a sign that the Goddess has witnessed the challenge and transfer of titles. Beast felt the shift in power alongside Alpha Thorin.CC turned away from the sky and looked down at the still gasping and terrified Ryan sprawled on the ground, coated in red dust—the same red dust that had followed them back and steamrolled this entire moment. It was

NARRATIVE POVThe warriors on both sides closed in a circle and watched the two opponents sizing each other up. There was a mixture of fear and excited anticipation in the air. Long forgotten was the dark energy that unnerved them moments ago.It was clear to the group that Ryan had a severe physical advantage, but there was power in CC’s calm demeanour. She was assessing and waiting for her prey. Her sense of calm and patience sent a shiver down the spines of the Trinity Falls warriors as they witnessed the challenge take hold. The silence between both sides hung heavy in the air. Ryan smirked when he realized that CC wasn’t confident enough to advance on him. She was waiting for him to strike. She was aware of the strength difference between the two. He may have been half the size of the behemoth watching on the sidelines, but he was twice her size, which is all that mattered to him. He could easily ou

NARRATIVE POVRyan began to panic. “Don’t you see that Carter is behind this? He is working with the rogues. Why else would we be meeting here, in the specific location where his daughter died? This is him undermining the pack. He can’t be trusted!”“What do you mean, this is where his daughter died?” another warrior asked, causing Ryan to groan in annoyance.“This is where Carissa died, okay. Can we move the fu.ck on already? Carter can not be trusted!” Ryan shouted in frustration.“How would you know that?” Carter asked. He knew the answer but wanted the group to know it too.“Because I fu.cking killed her! OKAY!” Ryan screamed. “I rejected the bi.tch and then Kim, Matthew and Britt beat the sh.it out of her until she had no breaths left to beg for mercy, and then I shot her

NARRATIVE POVAfter several hours of marching out, Carter arrives at the warehouse with a small army of seven warriors, including one of the Elders, Elder Clark, and Councilman Hartt. The attendance of the Councilman and at least one Elder was necessary as an official witness to the pack challenge, should it be disputed once the Council arrives with the warrior army reinforcements later. Everything must be legally documented, especially if the rogues were to win the challenge and gain possession of the territory. The other twelve warriors and two Elders, Elder Rose and Elder Preston, remained back in the Trinity Falls Pack's pack grounds. They were tasked with guarding the pack house and watching over the weaker pack members, the untrained women and children, as they hid in bunkers until the challenge concluded. The weight of this moment and the desperation of this victory hung heavy in the air
