Chapter 2

ผู้เขียน: Stars
I didn't know how long I was out. In my sleep, I felt a few drops of water land on my face, and the cold slowly pulled me back to consciousness.

When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was Adrian — his eyes puffy and glistening, as though he'd been crying for hours.

The moment he realized I was awake, his face lit up with relief. Then, almost immediately, he seemed to remember how pathetic he must look. He spun around, wiped his eyes, and asked in his most casual voice, "Mira, how are you feeling?"

Watching him try so hard to hold it together while clearly dying to fuss over me — I couldn't help it. I actually thought he was kind of adorable. I wanted to mess with him a little.

I pressed a hand to my chest, scrunched my face in agony, and whimpered, "It hurts... it hurts so bad."

He scrambled to his feet, grabbed my hand, and his voice shook as he tried to comfort me. "Don't be scared. I'll find a way to heal you — there are plenty of potions here, I can—"

A cold voice cut him off. "Our healing potions restore all wounds instantly upon consumption. There's no residual pain whatsoever. Can't you tell? She's faking it to get you to baby her."

I followed the voice to a beautiful woman in a witch's robe, focused entirely on a small potion bottle on the table.

That's when it hit me — Adrian had brought me to a witch's cottage.

I'd collapsed in the wilderness, surrounded by barren mountains. Where else would he find help?

He'd carried me on his back for miles, deep into the forest, until he found her.

Caught red-handed, I felt my cheeks burn. "Thank you for saving my life," I said awkwardly.

The Witch didn't even glance up. "Don't thank me. We witches aren't running a charity. I never work at a loss."

That's when I noticed — the moonstone ring was gone from Adrian's finger. The one his mother had left him. Her only keepsake.

My heart clenched. He'd traded something he valued more than his own life to pay for my healing.

The comments were just as shocked.

[That ring was supposed to be the token of love the hero gives the heroine later in the story! Now he's not only missed his chance to meet the heroine because he saved the villainess — he's lost the token too.]

[And the punishment for the villainess deviating from the plot seems to have gotten weaker. Before, defying the storyline would've killed her on the spot.]

[Why am I starting to feel something? They actually look good together — what's happening to me?]

I found a clue buried in those comments. Werewolves were physically resilient — a few claw wounds shouldn't have been enough to make me cough up blood and pass out.

The reason I'd been so badly hurt was the system's punishment for deviating from the plot. But the punishment wasn't absolute. As long as Adrian chose me, it would weaken — maybe even disappear entirely.

While I was still lost in thought, the Witch spoke up again. "How long do you two plan on squatting in my house? This isn't a hotel. If you want to stay, pay up."

Adrian had just pawned his ring. Between the two of us, we didn't have a single coin. Where were we supposed to get rent money?

He looked at me with guilt written all over his face, like everything that had happened to me was his fault.

I didn't care. I smiled at him. "It's okay. As long as I'm with you, I'd sleep on the streets and be happy about it."

"You're all I have left. Don't you dare leave me behind."

His eyes glistened again, threatening to spill over. He gripped my hand tight, his voice raw. "I won't. I'll never leave you."

I beamed at him. "Then can I be your mate?"

He didn't answer directly, but his gaze hardened with resolve. "Not yet. When I take back my Alpha title, I'll give you the grandest Mating Ceremony anyone has ever seen."

[Isn't that supposed to be the hero's line to the heroine? The villainess already stole the token of love, and now she's stealing the heroine's scenes too? Unforgivable!]

[The heroine's father is the most powerful Alpha in the entire wolf world. The hero can't reclaim his title without the heroine's help — and that's how they fall in love. The heroine is the hero's true love.]

  • The Alpha Became a Rogue, but I Begged To Stay   Chapter 8

I stared at him in disbelief. "Sir, you must have the wrong person. I'm an orphan — I don't have a father."The man steadied his breathing and began to explain. My mother had died giving birth to me. The pack witch declared me an ill omen — a curse that would bring ruin to the pack sooner or later. But my father refused to listen. He felt that I'd come into the world already robbed of a mother's love, so he was determined to give me all of his.The rumors only grew worse. Years of war and devastating losses convinced the pack that I was the source of their misfortune.Under mounting pressure, my father sent me away, promising it was only temporary — just until things blew over — and that he'd come for me soon. But I got lost. He searched for me, year after year, and never found me.During that time, still grieving, he came across an orphan girl — a child left parentless by the same wars — and took her in as his own daughter. He never stopped looking for me. But I'd grown into someone u

Maybe I'd been wrong from the very beginning.I was the villainess of this story, destined to be nothing more than cannon fodder on the road to their love.But... but...I refused to accept it.I was the one who saved Adrian. I was the one who spent seven years by his side. I was the one who suffered through the lowest point of his life with him. So why was someone else the one who got to keep him?Serena clutched Adrian's hand, her voice trembling with pitiful sweetness. "Adrian, it hurts so much. Will you take me to the hospital?"His lover on one side. The woman who'd just taken a blade for him on the other. For the first time, hesitation flickered in Adrian's eyes.He took a step toward Serena — then thought of me, barely breathing in his arms, and stepped back.Tears streamed down Serena's face. "Adrian... I... it hurts. I can't hold on much longer."She stumbled toward him, pressing her hand to her bleeding wound.I didn't know if everything I'd done over the years was enough to

Serena said nothing. She stood perfectly still, eyes fixed ahead, refusing to take a side. The tension was suffocating.I understood instantly — she was waiting for Adrian to beg.Maybe Serena didn't truly care about Adrian at all. What she loved was the thrill of conquest. Adrian was famously stubborn — the most defiant wolf in the entire world — and that was exactly what had ignited her competitive streak. But Adrian's eyes weren't on her. He gently wiped the blood from my face and held me tight against his chest."Don't be scared. Even if I die here tonight, I won't let anything happen to you."He set me down. I stared at him, shattered, clawing at the air to hold him back — but my arms were dead weight. I couldn't lift them.[Why is the villainess still clinging to the hero? If it weren't for her, Adrian and the heroine would've already teamed up and handled this.][Damien is the final boss. In the original plot, the hero and heroine have to work together to defeat him — but this t

I staggered toward Adrian, but I'd barely taken a few steps before blood loss dragged me to the ground.Through blurred vision, I could see the panic on his face — but the wolfsbane had seeped deep into his bloodstream. His whole body seized, and he collapsed. The woman in the white dress swept toward him, flanked by guards, her heels clicking sharply over the broken glass."Adrian, are you alright? I'll call an ambulance right now."She crouched beside him, her gaze so soft it could melt.[Unbelievable — that's our heroine. What an entrance. Now that's a real goddess.][The only reason the hero fell for the villainess is because he'd never met the heroine. There's no way he spends one night with her and doesn't fall.]I knew who she was — the one the comments called the heroine. Serena. The woman the storyline had destined to be Adrian's mate.Serena was the daughter of the most powerful pack in the wolf world. They'd forced wolfsbane-laced liquor down his throat, leaving him too weak to fight back. He hung from chains, a gaping wound on his forehead streaming blood down his face.A circle of thugs surrounded him, silver blades in hand, gleefully debating which part of him to carve up first."If you'd just stayed a good little rogue, you might've scraped by. But you — looking like this — still dreaming of being Alpha? Pathetic."One of them pointed to a bright red handprint on his own face, seething. "Which hand did he slap me with? Cut his arm off!"The wolfsbane had weakened Adrian, but he was still conscious enough to struggle. The chains rattled and clanged as he thrashed against them. That only excited them more. Their laughter grew wilder, crueler. The silver blade was inches from Adrian's arm when something inside me snapped. My wolf surged to the surface. I forgot every plot point, every calculation. I unleashed every ounce of wolf energy in my body, shifted, and lunged at the man hol

Adrian and I settled into a run-down cabin in the mountains. Life was hard, but it was ours, and it was happy.Adrian swallowed his pride and took whatever work he could find — the dirtiest, most grueling jobs no one else wanted. He never once complained. Every evening before coming inside, he'd scrub the grease and grime off himself at the door, then walk in with a smile and cook dinner for me.The meals were nothing compared to the feasts he'd once enjoyed as Alpha, but he ate with genuine contentment, picking out every piece of meat and putting it in my bowl. The forest turned bitter cold at night. We'd curl up together in bed, keeping each other warm.He always pulled me close, his chest pressed against my back. Beyond his uneven breathing, I could feel his heartbeat — growing faster and faster.I even thought: maybe spending the rest of my life like this wouldn't be so bad. Then one night, I rolled over in my sleep and my arm hit empty space. I shot awake. The bed was cold beside
