Chapter 41

Bella's pov

Sunset, after 6 PM

The last glow in the sky faded away, and night fell. I picked up the daffodil vase from the windowsill, intending to move it to another place.

I treaded lightly, trying not to make any sound to wake Haydn. He had been exhausted lately, never fully asleep since I got pregnant. The afternoon sun was perfect today, and he unintentionally dozed off while talking to me. I didn't have the heart to disturb him, deciding to let him rest and recharge.

Suddenly, Haydn opened his eyes with a start. His eyes were dark, and his expression appeared cold.

"Haydn, did I wake you?" I asked with concern.

"No," Haydn shook his head, uttering a brief word. He rubbed his temples, seeming somewhat in pain.

"Did you get a headache?" I placed the vase down, moved behind Haydn, and used my index fingers to massage his temples. "Feeling better?"

Haydn nodded gently. "It's time for dinner," he said, then left the room without another word.

He didn't invite me to join him,
