Chapter 10: Changes

Over the next few weeks, Lia kept catching an amazing scent, but when she did, it was usually fading, and she could never find the source. Nova was getting frustrated. She knew it was their mate. Lia kept this between them. The thought of her conversation with Tyler was ever-present in her mind. It was disappointing knowing that this meant there was no chance Tyler was their mate. He wasn’t 18 yet. The scent couldn’t be his. She was even more crestfallen when Tyler’s stay came to an end. He had to return home to his pack and his future duties.

"You'll have to come to visit me soon," Tyler says, trying to hide the disappointment of leaving people he had grown to care about. A car waits behind him.

"Invite us to your birthday," Jael says. "Our alpha would be foolish not to let us go."

"He would be." Tyler looks at an alpha's 18th is a big deal."
