I was stunned by how Xavier reacted just now. I raised my head to look at him, because he was much taller. I was wondering what was going on in his head, he was acting possessive and jealous. The way he glared at Lucas scared me.

Chloe and Lucas were equally stunned, especially Lucas. I can only imagine how heartbroken he is after finding out that I have a mate and I have been marked. Even though I have tried to keep my distance from him to avoid his feelings for me from growing, it didn't help.

Turning back to Xavier, I wiggled my wrist, trying to free myself from his grip. He looked at me and quickly let go of my hand. The anger in his eyes quickly faded and was replaced by guilt. He probably realized that he overreacted. I'm just glad nobody got into a fight.

"Do you want to go with me?" Xavier suddenly asked, his tone was also much softer.

"Yes." I answered, nodding.
