Chapter 46

Evening came much earlier than expected and Vivian was lying still on her bed, staring at the ceiling. Her body was in pain and she was trying so hard not to cry and she was doing a great job at that. She couldn't help but count the number of squares she could see and soon enough she was lost in her silly game.

She thought it would be enough to keep her from thinking about anything or it was more like that was what she wanted to believe. She wanted to believe it was enough to keep her away from her thoughts, her struggles and her pain but it didn't. She was again drawn back to her thoughts and at that moment, she was trapped in it.

Tears fell from her eyes and soon enough her past was catching up to her. A past she was trying so hard to get rid of but had become her shadow. A shadow that wouldn't let her go and was always following her.
