MasukKyren’s Pov
“Why do you look like you are about to kill?” Dominic muttered, leaning against the door with his hands in his pockets. I glared at his reflection through the mirror angry at the way he looked put together while I stood here struggling to fucking wear a damn cufflink. Whoever invented these things needed to be hung, because why would someone think that these little contraptions should make such a big deal in a man’s attire? I stifled a growl, holding myself back from ripping off the million-dollar suit I had ordered. Tonight, was already starting off on a wrong foot and I could feel the threads of anger surging through me. Not only had Noah flaunted every direct order that I had given him, but he had acted like we were long-lost friends. Now thinking about it, I should have put up a fight, maybe commanded the council of elders to send in someone else. But even as the thought crossed my mind, I knew that it wouldn’t suffice. If he was working with rogues and dealing in illegal things I needed to be on the ground, needed to be the one to see it firsthand. “You know the world won’t end if you decide not to wear the cufflinks,” Dominic muttered, reminding me of his presence. “The fucking media will be there and the last time we had taken your advice there was a whole segment on their show dedicated to analysing the things that I did and how unregaled I dressed to functions” I hissed. He sniggered, “That was two years ago, and well…” he paused, his eyes meeting mine. “Fine, I will help, but you better make sure that you compensate me greatly,” I rolled my eyes at his antics, I could tolerate his words, mainly because Dominic wasn’t just my right-hand man, he was my best friend. “What is that?” I asked, pointing to the file he had dropped on the table. “The team brought back something on Noah, his wife, apparently the bastard has been married for two years now,” he huffed. Two years? That sounded… why the hell did I care if he was married? For all I know, she might just be as dangerous as he is. “Let me see…” “You don’t have the time, the party is in less than an hour and we are already behind time,” I huffed. Noah was really pushing it, the press, the party and then the fucking speech? “Let’s get this over with, the faster we do this, the earlier I can get home,” I hissed. Dominic shook his head, “You make it sound like it is a torture chamber you are heading to,” I cocked my eyebrows, “Isn’t it?” The drive was quiet, mainly because my mind was still stuck on the fact that Noah was a married man, who would be so desperate to stay with someone as thieving and horrible as him. The sound of cheers and bright light flickering snapped me back to reality. “We are here,” Dominic muttered, his hand slapping my shoulder. Fucking bastard, the public light has never bothered him. Noah stood in front with a fucking bright smile on his face, I couldn’t help but imagine what it would feel like to punch those teeth out. The thought brought a wide smile to my face. “Careful now, I can hear your murderous thoughts,” Dominic teased. “If I need to survive this, I am going to have to sink into those comforting thoughts,” I growled. “Alpha King Kyren, welcome to the Silver Fang pack,” he greeted, his hands stretched out for a handshake. “I know the last time we met was at the council meeting about two years ago, you were…” Does he ever shut up? How proud is he of his fucking voice? Because in my ears they sounded like nails scratching on a damn chalkboard. “My wife had made sure she planned this just as I had ordered,” he said in a proud tone, his hands pointing out to the decorations. And he is a conceited asshole. “Erm,” Dominic coughed, his subtle way of telling me I needed to speak rather than look around the room with a bored look on my face. Just as I was about to comment on the display, my eyes landed on the most porcelain skin I have ever seen. But that wasn’t what caught my attention, it was the way the dress stuck to her, the slit made my imaginations run wild. She was ethereal. “Allow me to introduce you to my lovely wife, Azelea…” Wife? She couldn’t be the one married to this crook? “Your highness, welcome to our pack, I am sorry for my tardiness, I had to…” “Thank you for taking your time to do this… this is a fantastic job that you have done,” He frowned, he fucking frowned because I had complimented his wife. Somehow a dark shady part of me liked it. And the way she blushed, I loved it even more. “Would you like to give a speech now? the people have been waiting to hear from you,” noah said, his tone matching the displeasure on his face. No. “Maybe later, I would like to hear more about the things that you have done,” I said to his wife. If I was going to endure this, I needed to find something that would keep my mind off reaching out and clawing out his throat. She smiled, an ethereal look that had me mesmerised, she looked like the moon goddess, her voice soft like a damn siren. I could be trapped in her web, I wouldn’t care. The music started, just as a few dignitaries graced the dance floor, Dominic was somewhere in the crowd, obviously being the social butterfly. I shouldn’t do this. But the tug that I felt at the back of my mind couldn’t stop me. “Would you join me on the dancefloor?” Her eyes flickered towards her husband, I held back from growling at him. But just as I thought she wouldn’t, something flashed through her eyes, a defiance, the look of revenge you would only see on a scorned woman. I was intrigued. Her gloved hand touched mine, her dazzling smile blinding, “With pleasure your highness.”Author’s PovAzelea sat on the workout bench. She could hear the chants, the loud cheering of people trying to get the adrenaline pumping. In a few minutes, she would be called out. Her emotions felt like they were on a switch, confident, scared, just a rotation that she couldn’t control. Her eyes had been on the door, and each time it opened, all she hoped would walk through was Kyren. But each time, it was filled with nothing but disappointments.“He can’t be here,” Emma said, grabbing her hand. “The rules won’t let him see you until after the fight,” she said.Azelea bit her lower lip, she hated how that sounded, they were blocking her from seeing Kyren, the only thing that would give her some encouragement that she needed.“I understand, but maybe...”“Don’t let your head get tested, just stay focused, after the fight, you are going to have all the time that you want to have with him,” Emma said.Azelea smiled, arguing wasn’t going to change the situation, a lot had happened alre
Azelea’s Pov The morning was here, with it came the dread. The fear of the future that I was about to face. Emma walked in, smiling softly as she saw me on Kyren’s chest, “I could come back,” she said. Blushing at the fact that she had pushed open the door without thinking about what would happen inside. Kyren sighed, we haven’t really spoken since the night came, we just held each other enjoying the warmth that we could provide. For me, I had things that I wanted to say to him, words that I wished that I could share. “No, you can stay, I have to run, I need to make sure things are fixed,” Kyren said. I wanted to grumble, wanted to hold him back to my chest. But he had a role and I had to keep my hand ready for the war that I was about to face. It was my turn to blush the minute he planted a soft kiss on my lips as he walked out of the room. Help, I think I am falling. “I swe
Author’s Pov Noah was filled with excitement, it felt like he was a kid all over again, waiting for the best lunar moon, the one time in the year that they could have uncontrolled animal instinct. Let the wolves out and just be free. But this time it wasn’t the lunar moon, it was the freaking tournament that had him excited. Kane walked into the room, his eyes dark as he stared at him, “Can we talk?” he said. Noah sighed, this was one thing about Kane, the man acted like he was against anything that had to do with excitement. He hated it, hated being free and excited. “What do you want to talk about?” Noah asked. Kane looked around, the women were in the corner of the room, eyes on the television as they watched the fashion show. This wasn’t their pack, and the least privacy they could have was here, in here. “Hudson,” he said.Something caught his attention, it had been a slight sh
Kyren’s PovShe had locked herself away in her room, and I couldn’t reach out to her, no matter how hard I tried. A part of me was begging me to let her be, to let her have the space that she wanted, but that space? Was that the problem? Was it bad that I wanted her to have space but be close to me? Around me?A knock on the door broke me out of my thoughts, my head snapping to the door as I watched Dominic walk in with a smile on his face. “Hey,” he greeted.I huffed, I had nothing to say.“Do you have a minute?” he asked his eyes taking in my form.Did I?I had more than a minute to spare.“What is the problem?” I asked. He ran his hands over his face, his eyes had that tired look in them as he stared at me, “We have…. You have to give Declan an audience,” he said.My eye darkened, my head snapped towards his direction as I stared at him, “What the hell are you talking about?” I growled.I was even more angry that Declan was still in my place roaming freely, and knowing him, he was
Author’s Pov“Still creeping through the shadows like you usually do?” Caliste purred, her eye fixed on Declan as he moved.Declan had that grin, the soft one that said he was happy to see a familiar face, one that wasn’t interested in killing him. “Still causing havoc?” he teased. She shrugged, “What can I say?”He let out a low laugh as he shook his head.“Tell me, how did Kyren marry her and not you?” he asked. She glowered, her eyes darkening as he stared at him, “I don’t want to talk about that,” she snapped.“Sore topic?” he taunted, tutting lowly as he stared at her.He knew what he was doing. Pushing her. something he enjoyed. Caliste had been easy to read right from the first time that they met. He had always wondered why Kyren kept her closed, something he still couldn’t place his hands on.“So, what are you going to do about it?” he asked, staring at her with a soft look on his face.“Kyren is mine…”“But he wears the ring of another…” he countered. Her glare hardened, “W
Azelea’s PovThe sun’s rays glowed softly into the room, the warmth filling my body with happiness.Last night had been magical, I felt a part of him, and a part of me that I never knew existed. I rolled over, my hand touching the side of the bed, reaching out to him, but it came up empty. His side of the bed was cold, the kind that suggests he hadn’t been in bed for a while.I stood up, my hand reaching out for my bed robe as I covered myself up, “Kyren?” my voice was low as I called out, my body filled with dread. He should be here, shouldn’t he?Nothing, I came up empty. Was it that bad?I thought we had a minute and now, seeing…The door opened, and Kyren walked in with a cold look on his face, his eyes taking in my form. My heart dropped; I wasn’t sure of what to do.“Hey,” I muttered, suddenly feeling self-conscious of the whole situation. “I should probably… I should give you space,” I said.He shook his head, “The elders have decided,”My heart dropped. My body was vibrating a
