로그인Cassie’s POVI stared at Nate, my heart squeezing for so many reasons. But a few were because I really was starting to fall for him. He was such a nice guy, and I could tell that he really did care for me. I loved being cared for. That was one of the things that made me fall for someone. That was how I fell for Rafael. He had cared so deeply for me. I used to not overthink whether he loved me or whether he wanted me in his life. At that time, I knew. But not anymore. Now, it was pretty clear that Rafael hated me. He showed that in his words and in his actions. He showed that when he left me when I needed him the most; something that I would have never done to him. Every single time I thought of that, it’d feel like I was being stabbed over and over. And I pray that he would feel exactly how I felt…that he would feel it someday. The anger and pain. The temptation to yell in his face and tell him over and over that he was a monster. The urge to just make him feel my pain! But such w
Nate’s POVI stopped in my tracks, my heart thumping in my chest as I tried my very best to process what my mate had said. What? She could not be leaving! I was doing everything that I could to clear her name so she could officially be mine; so I could make her the Queen of the Werewolf World, and this was what she had just told me? I had gone against my uncle and against so much, disguised myself to be a lowly warrior, risking so much…all for her. And this was what she was saying; that she was leaving the pack forever? “Cassie, is this a joke?” I asked, my question genuine. Because it had to be, right? “You can’t be leaving.” I chuckled without humor. We were in the park now, and there were a few people around, but they were in their own worlds; they were not paying attention to us. “Nate, I’m sorry, but I am,” She replied. “I can’t stay in a pack that hates me.” She sighed. “I can’t even go anywhere without people looking at me weirdly. I can’t go to a restaurant because I woul
Holy sh*t.I tried to speak, but only gibberish came out. The blonde girl unfolded her arms from her chest and walked past me, entering my room before going over to the bed and sitting on it, giving me her full attention before crossing her perfect legs. “Who were you talking with, Cassie?” She asked again. “Do you now have a boyfriend? How would you leave tonight when you have a boyfriend?” She chuckled. “Oh, no!” I replied without missing a beat. “It was a friend,” I said. It was not like I was lying; Nate was my friend. We were nothing more than that. And we probably won’t be anything more than that because I would be leaving. “Hmm…” She smiled. “I guess.” She shrugged, adjusting herself on the bed. “Anyway, I’m here because we need to talk. You know…about tonight. You need to know what to do and where to go. Because I won’t be with you, dear.” “Yeah, of course,” I said in response, nodding while smiling as more hope filled my heart. It all seemed to be getting more real, and I
I was speechless. I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out. I just stood and stared at him. I could not understand or wrap my head around how someone who used to love me so hard would be telling me these hurtful things. It did not make sense to me. All the love he had for me- where had it gone? Did it just disappear? And the same for Rafael. When he would look at me, all I’d see would be hatred and anger. I swallowed hard, feeling tears burn my eyes. But I was not going to let them drop. I was not going to cry in front of Leon. All I needed to remember was that I was going to leave all of this behind soon. Very soon. “Say something,” Leon said, taking a step closer to me. “What’s wrong? Nothing to say? Are you not going to yell in my face and tell me how you suffered so much in prison? And how everyone hates you for something that you did not do?” He scoffed. “Well, grow the f*ck up, Cassie. Sh*t happens. There are people out there who have been through worse. So you eithe
Cassie’s POVI was in my room, trying to pack my things for tomorrow. The first time I had tried to leave the pack, that time I had no real help. And I needed to do it quickly as well. That was why I had packed only a bag at the time. But not this time. Of course, I was not going to drag a lot of suitcases with me. But at least I had the option of taking one suitcase where I could put things that had value to me. Like some of the old things from my room, and all the clothes and things that I would need. Starting a new life somewhere else was not going to be a walk in the park. I would have to get a job, work, and save up. I would need to start all over, but I was willing to go through that if that meant that I would finally get to be happy; if it meant that no one would hate me as much as everyone hated me here for something that I did not even do. When I was done, I pushed the closed suitcase back in the closet. Leon did not know that Sage was going to help me to leave the pack. I
Sage’s POVI arrived at my parents’ place, a nice and luxurious house that was built in the countryside of the pack, mostly in the forest area. I had made sure that this had been done because I wanted to keep them safe. I had already lied to Leon and everyone that my parents had died. People who knew them personally had been confused by this, but soon, when they could not reach my parents, they started to believe this lie. I had told everyone that they had died from malaria. And how I had buried them somewhere that I did not want anyone to know because I felt like the pack had failed them. It was all lies, but truthfully, this pack had failed a lot of people. Most of them were omegas. Being born a certain way should not mean that you should get to live a low-quality life. No one chose who they were; it was just something that happened. I killed the engine and removed my seatbelt before getting out of the car. I had driven very fast here, above the speed limit. But that was one of t
