Mag-log inChapter III
Freya I opened my eyes to the sound of the car door opening. Scarlet leaned in and gently carried Theo who was still asleep in his school shorts and t-shirt. I stepped out of the car, closed the door behind me and followed her into the house. The moment we stepped inside, I noticed how messy everything looked. Clothes were scattered, plates sat unwashed from breakfast, and dust had settled on surfaces. I was exhausted, but I didn’t know if I should start cleaning or just lay down. Part of me wanted to sleep and run away from the reality I still couldn’t believe was happening. I watched as Scarlet carried Theo into our small bedroom and laid him down carefully. Then she began tidying up the living room without saying a word. I felt a deep wave of gratitude. Scarlet had been my rock since the day we met. We crossed paths in a bar shortly after I ran away from the ruins of my pack. I was broken, homeless and lost. The Moon Goddess must have sent her my way. After I told her a little about myself, she didn’t hesitate. She opened her home to me and has been my only real friend ever since. And my colleagues? My colleagues at the clinic… they barely noticed I didn’t show up today. I picked up my phone to see if there’s any call or text. None. It’s just that… it would affect my pay and I would have less to contribute to this home. I grabbed a small towel from the kitchen wall and started wiping the surfaces. Scarlet walked over to me and gently took the towel from my hand. “Freya, you need to rest.” “I’m okay,” I muttered. “No, you’re not. Have you looked at yourself in the mirror?” She shook her head. “We are of the same age but if you don’t rest properly, you’ll age faster than me. Please, just rest. Theo will wake up soon.” Tears burned at the back of my eyes, but I blinked them away. “Thank you.” I walked into our small bedroom. The room we all shared wasn’t big, but Theo had his own little space. I lay down on the bed and closed my eyes, hoping sleep would help me escape, even for a little while. Seconds passed. Maybe minutes. Maybe hours… but when I woke up it was dark outside. And I didn't wake up on my own accord. It was the plate crashing sound I heard that woke me up. I stretched my body and stood up. As I walked toward the kitchen area, I saw Scarlet and Theo setting up the small dining table. I checked my watch. 7:31 pm. How had the day disappeared so fast? “Sorry about the noise,” Scarlet said with a smile. “Theo was just helping me out. We’ve been trying to keep things under control, but we are good now, come sit. Dinner is almost ready.” I looked at her face. “Have you slept at all, Scarlet?” “How much sleep do you want me to get? Worry about yourself, not me.” Her words hit me harder than I expected. “I’ll just take a quick bath, I'll be right back.” In the bathroom and stripped off my clothes and turned on the hot tap, making the water warm. I sank into the bath tub, letting the heat relax my muscles. As I washed my body and combed through my hair, I tried to push away thoughts of that night… Thoughts of sleeping with a royal wolf… Thoughts of finally meeting the man who kept appearing in my dreams…. Theo’s father. But fear for Theo kept creeping in. His powers were too strong for a five year old. I didn’t want anyone to harm him or make his condition worse, even if he needed proper training… What if going to Blackmoon made things better? What if it made them worse? Why didn’t he find me before? Why now? And how? After that night, I woke up alone in that big bed. He abandoned me. He left without a word. He made his decision. And now he suddenly wanted my son??? How did he even know Theo was his? How did he know I was the one? Unless he knew all along and chose to let me suffer alone. My jaw tightened with anger. I finished bathing, wrapped a big grey towel around myself, and decided to bathe Theo too. When I stepped out, they were already eating at the table. I joined them anyway, still in my towel. I would go back to the bathroom later so there was no point in changing fits. The food tasted amazing, as always. Scarlet owned a restaurant and was an excellent cook. She insisted on being the chef of the house. Tonight she made chicken pasta, one of Theo’s favorites. He was the first to finish off his food and requested for more. I watched Scarlet eat while keeping an eye on Theo as he gobbled down his food. One can mistake her for his real mother. A small pang of jealousy hit me. “Don’t forget your water, Theo,” I reminded him. When everyone was done, Scarlet left the plates for me like she always did. It could be annoying sometimes but tonight, I didn’t mind. I cleared the table and washed the plates off while Theo and Scarlet talked about their day. “I couldn’t let him get away the second time so I got angry.” Theo said, folding his arms and stomping his little feet. “Oh yeah?” Scarlet replied, smiling. “Yeah!” She tickled his side, making him burst into giggles. I cleared my throat, “It’s time for your bath.” “Yayyy!” Theo shouted and ran toward the bathroom door. He always loved bath time. He was happily playing in the bubble bath when I finished washing him. I scooped some bubbles and blew them gently on his face. He giggled and scooped some himself, blowing them back at me. “Don’t be a naughty boy,” I laughed. Theo giggled louder, sending bubbles flying into the air. “Okay, that’s enough—” Suddenly his body jerked. The laughter stopped as his small frame started shaking violently. My heart dropped. “Theo?” His eyes had turned to bright gold. “Theo!” I poured water over him to wash the bubbles away and grabbed him quickly. “Scarlet!”Chapter XIVFreyaThe morning after the feast, the palace felt even more overwhelming. I had barely slept, my mind replaying how those ladies smiled at Damon, touched his arm, and laughed at his minimal responses as if they were the funniest things they’d ever heard. The way he held that lady and danced with her... my wolf was furious. Now, Scarlet and I were walking through the eastern gardens with Theo when the ladies appeared. They moved as if they owned the place, and I almost rolled my eyes. The auburn-haired lady spotted us first and approached with graceful steps. “Lady Freya?… Correct me if I’m wrong,” she said warmly, her voice like honey; I wouldn't even blame Damon if he fell for her already.“That’s correct.”“Oh, I’m Lady Seraphine Valemont. I… heard about your son…” She said, looking at me with those innocent brown eyes that looked deceiving to me.“It must have been so difficult raising him alone in the human world. You’re incredibly strong.” She continued.“And what ex
Chapter XIII King Damon Long tables rasped under the scent of roasted meats, spiced wines, and silver platters piled high with delicacies in the dining hall. The entire court had gathered for the welcome feast, I sat at the head of the main table. My expression remained neutral as the three noble ladies were seated near me. Lady Seraphine Valemont smiled softly from my right, her hair catching the light like warm copper. She spoke gently about alliances and the beauty of the gardens, her voice so soothing. Lady Kaelith Stormrune sat a little further down, her silver-blonde braid resting over one shoulder. She ate with warrior efficiency, occasionally shooting glances my way, it looked like she was assessing me like I was a threat. Lady Selene Viremont, on my left, kept her eyes lowered, offering smiles and soft-spoken compliments. She was a shy one. Lord Varek watched his daughter with barely concealed pride from across the table. I played my role well, polite nods, good
Chapter XII Freya I wiped the last of my tears away with the back of my hand, forcing my expression into something neutral before I left the alcove. My eyes still felt swollen, but I couldn’t let Theo or Scarlet see me like this. I had forgotten the exact way back to the kitchen, so I followed Theo’s familiar scent instead. It led me through corridors until I reached the warm, bustling space filled with the clatter of pots and the rich aroma of herbs. They were still there. Theo sat on a tall stool, swinging his legs happily while talking with Samantha. Scarlet leaned against the counter, watching them with a soft smile on her face. When Scarlet looked up and saw me, her expression changed. She gave me a small, knowing smile. “We were waiting for you so we could leave together.” I sighed heavily, trying to sound normal. “You didn’t have to. I could scent you.” “Oh,” she said, a little sheepish. “I completely forgot.” She turned to Theo. “Come on, T. Let’s head out now.” Theo
Chapter XI Freya Theo scraped the last bite of Scarlet’s chicken pasta from his plate, cheeks puffed out in satisfaction. I took one small taste and the familiar spices settled on my tongue. For a second, I was back in our tiny kitchen, the pressure of worrying endlessly lifting just a little. I missed that place more than I wanted to admit. Theo leaned back with a happy sigh, eyes bright. Scarlet sat beside him, grinning as she ruffled his hair and teased him about eating like he’d been starved for weeks “The food is delicious,” Samantha walked in on us eating. “She’s the best,” Theo chimed in happily, shaking his head. Samantha’s eyebrow arched, then she let out a rich laugh. “I see.” She asked Scarlet where she learned to cook like that. Scarlet launched into an animated explanation, hands waving as she talked about natural talent and years of training. Samantha listened with genuine interest, her silver-streaked hair catching the light, her warm brown skin glowing. The
Chapter X Damon I stormed away from the training fields with Kyle beside me, blood roaring in my ears. Freya’s words kept echoing in my head. You left me that morning after that night. You abandoned us. My wolf snarled inside me… the mate bond only made everything worse. Every second near her tested the limits of my control. “She’s impossible.” I muttered. And those marks she was talking about… what’s that about? There’s a lot I don’t know of my son. A sigh escaped from my mouth. Kyle glanced at me. “That was… intense. You two really don’t hold back.” I didn’t answer. The memory of Theo walking into my arms still burned in my chest. He had called me Dad.… my son had accepted me… and then Freya had looked at me like I was going to break him. We reached the council chamber. Kyle escorted me inside, as he sometimes did when he wasn’t busy with training. All the members were already seated, watching me with interest. They nodded their heads in greeting to us. “Your Majesty,” Lor
Chapter IX Freya We had just finished bathing and were fully dressed when a knock sounded at the door. “Hold on, baby.” I walked over and opened it to find Scarlet standing there with a bright smile. She pushed her way inside without waiting. “Good morning to you too,” I called after her playfully. “Aunt Scarlet!” Theo shrieked with pure joy, running straight into her arms. She scooped him up and spun him around. “How are you doing, T?” she asked, rubbing his hair. “I’m hungry,” Theo complained dramatically. “I haven’t eaten your food today.” Just then, another knock came. I opened the door to see Tasha and Diva pushing food trolleys loaded with dishes that smelled incredible. Theo immediately started grumbling to Scarlet. “No… I don’t want that palace food. I want yours!” I turned to the maids. “Please give me a minute.” I gently closed the door on them. Before I could even turn around, Theo started shaking violently in Scarlet’s arms. She quickly set him down on the bed a
Chapter VII Damon A savage growl tore from my throat. She had hidden my heir. Five years of emptiness… five years of an incomplete bond that haunted me every damn day… all because she ran. That night at the masquerade, the ancient ritual magic had concealed faces, scents, and even the mate bon
Chapter VI Freya My eyes fluttered open to the feeling of cool silk against my skin. For a few seconds, everything was blurry. A thick fluffy blanket pressed down on me, and above my head hung an ornate chandelier with crystal spikes that looked like iron claws ready to strike. Where am I? I
Chapter VFreyaI opened my eyes to the sound of doors closing lightly, but no one else apart from me and Theo was in the car. The car had stopped. My door opened, it was the female standing by the side, looking alert.“We need to run,” she said.I stepped out carefully, holding Theo close to my c
